Features
Overview: The Boston Acoustics MCS 100 is a 6-piece Multi-Channel Solution home theater speaker system. It includes 4 identical front and rear satellite speakers, a matching center channel speaker, and a powered subwoofer. Additional satellite speakers can be purchased separately for 6.1- or 7.1-channel systems (065100SATB). The system comes with three 15' lengths of speaker wire for the front and center and two 40' lengths of speaker wire for the rear speakers. A 15' mono RCA cable for the subwoofer is also included.
Design: The speaker cabinets are made of molded ABS plastic. They are internally braced with MDF to eliminate resonance.
Reduced Baffle Diffraction Design (RBDD): The front baffles of the satellites and center speaker are gently curved both vertically and horizontally to give you a wider, smoother dispersion.
Grilles: The MCS 100 satellite and center channel speakers are equipped with removable silver cloth grilles.
Boston P.O.P.: The Boston Personal Option Plan (P.O.P.) allows you to match your environment with optional grilles in multiple colors for the Horizon series speakers. In addition to the Onyx (black) grilles that come with the speakers, you can purchase grilles in Glacier, Chocolat, Rose Bud, Chili Pepper, Silver, Caramel, or Pearl Gray. These optional grilles are available directly from the manufacturer.
Drivers
Tweeters: The MCS 100 satellites and center speaker each use a 3/4" Kortec soft dome tweeter for crystal clear high frequencies.
Mid-Bass Drivers: The MCS 100 satellites have 3" copolymer mid-bass drivers with foam surrounds. The center channel speaker has two 3" mid-bass drivers.
Enclosures: Each satellite and center channel speaker feature a bass reflex design with a rear-firing port. The center channel has dual ports. The speakers are equipped with spring clip terminals.
Mounting Options: The satellites and center channel can be placed on a tabletop or wall-mounted. The speakers come configured for tabletop placement with a rear foot (2 on the center channel) to keep the speaker upright. For wall mounting, the foot can be removed and the speakers hung on a #8 screw using the built-in keyhole slot. You can also use an optional wall-mount bracket that accepts a 1/4"-20 screw to fit the threaded screw hole that remains when the rear foot is removed. The center channel speaker has no keyhole slots, but has two threaded screw holes (also 1/4"-20) for optional wall-mount brackets.
Subwoofer: The MCS 100 system includes an 8" down-firing powered subwoofer in a bass reflex enclosure. The subwoofer features an auto on/standby circuit which automatically turns the amplifier on when a signal is detected, and off after several minutes when no signal is detected. The only control on the subwoofer is a level control. It has a mono RCA line-level input.
MagnaGuard: All MCS 100 speakers feature MagnaGuard magnetic shielding which ensures the speaker's magnetic field does not interfere with the television's picture.
