I am a Do-It-Yourself mom and was recently in the market for a car CD player to go in a 96 Toyota. The new stereo was to be a birthday present for my son as he was to assume use of the car upon turning 16. I priced some CD units locally after being drawn in by advertisements of "free installation", only to find that parts (brackets, harnesses, etc.) usually run $50-60, depending on the car.
I have received excellent products and service from Crutchfield in the past, and researched the same CD player on their website. Not only was the price of the stereo twenty dollars less, but I also discovered that NO new bracket was required for the installation and the harness was provided at no charge. This potential savings of $70-80 was enough to entice me into my first attempt at car stereo installation - especially with the knowledge that Crutchfield Technical Support was always available to coach me through any problems.
Piece of cake! With Crutchfield's excellent written instructions, I was able to complete the project in only 2.5 hours. I hit two snags and received prompt assistance: once by email as I was doing the preliminary wiring, then by way of a rescue call to Grant at tech support when I was struggling with setup before putting the dash back together. I couldn't be more proud of myself or pleased with my savings! What next? I immediately went back to Crutchfield.com and purchased new car speakers for my son with the money that I had saved. I'm absolutely sold on Crutchfield.
