Sensitivity ratings tell you how efficiently speakers convert power into sound; the higher the number, the louder the speakers will play. This rating measures how many decibels a speaker can produce at a distance of 1 meter with an input of 2.83 volts, usually a higher figure than the 1W/1M rating. It's most helpful when comparing speakers of different impedances, so many car speaker manufacturers prefer this rating.
