Q
Is this product really only compatible with Kenwood systems?
daniel  Jan 12, 2019
1 answer
A
Yes. The Kenwood KCA-iP202 USB Direct Connection Cable for iPod allows you to connect your compatible iPod or iPhone (with the older 30-pin dock connector) to a 2011-up Kenwood multimedia head unit which features a front-panel USB port and rear-panel 3.5mm audio/video input.

Q
Is there an updated version of this cable with the lighting plug instead of the 13 pin?
john  Sep 19, 2017
2 answers
A
Hi John It looks like there is a Kenwood KCA-IP103 iPod Lightning to USB cable. I have not tried it though. It does look like any other Lightning to USB but maybe better quality? I no longer use my cable and just send the music to the head unit via Bluetooth. Chad
chad  Sep 19, 2017
A
No, need to use the adaptor to utilize the lightning plug. I was told technically the new I-phones aren't supported, my 7 works with everything but the video.

Q
Can I use this to mirror a iPhone 4s screen to kenwood ddx374bt?
zach  Jun 30, 2017

A
No. You can connect to your iPhone but not all functions are available.
john henes  Jul 05, 2017
A
It worked with my 4s, it did not mirror so much as showed the image on the head unit and not on the phone screen. It only showed videos, it did not have any touch screen functionality, or show the home screen. My 6s will not even play videos, sound yes, images no.

Q
I have a DNX6140. It is 7 years old, I would like to know if they have a replacement cable for the iPhone 6S?
joe  Apr 10, 2017
1 answer
A
According to Kenwood's support site, I'm afraid the DNX6140 would not work with an iPhone 6S--it only works with the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. I wish I had better news for you, but if you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
I have a Kenwood DDX419. It still works well after several years. However, I've never been able to watch videos from my iPhone on the head unit as the manual promises, and I'd like to do so. Will this adapter (with a lightning adapter) allow me to view Netflix and YouTube videos on the head unit from my iPhone 6 Plus? Or my iPad? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I don't believe video is supported through the lightning cable, I'd suggest picking up an old 30 pin iPod or pre lightning iPhone to use to stream Netflix or other video to your deck.

A
I have the Kenwood DNX890 HD and have the IPHONE 4s. I use the adapter and have no issues viewing videos/movies on my head unit.

Q
I have installed the OEM KCA-IP202 cable. My sound through the iPod is inconsistent and often fades to the front speakers. If I move the iPod when seated in the cable, the sound will go back to stereo. Does the iPod connection end commonly wear out on this cable? Since it is difficult for me to get to the 3.5 mm input of the receiver, I'd like to be more certain that replacing the cable will resolve the issue.

Unfortunately I can't help with an answer. I use mine with a Ram bracket that holds the phone in place so have never had this problem.

Red- The OEM KCA-IP202 was a failure for me as well. Sound kept gong off or not even coming through at all. Unhooking and rehooking worked a couple of times, but it still would repeat it's erroneous ways. Finally it just stopped. I ended up just bluetoothing my phone to the Kenwood radio. I would either, send defective part for a new one (good luck, I tried that too), or toss the thing, cut your losses, and move on. Sorry!

Yes it does. It supports audio and video from iPod/iPhone as well. Basically, the same concept as plugging the usb end of your charger into a computer.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: I'm afraid Kenwood does not offer a cable like this with the Lightning connector. Sorry we didn't have better news on that. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

I have the kenwood DDX371.. With this cable will I be able to watch YouTube or Netflix on my deck through my phone? Thanks
alejandro  Mar 09, 2014

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That cable will work with your receiver and allow you to stream video apps as long as the app manufacturer has designed it that way. Netflix will work and YouTube should work as well. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Is this cable compatible with the Kenwood DDX470? That model is not listed as compatible with any of the Kenwood cables. Also, is the cable required for audio only playback? I don't see why I would ever need to play video through the unit. Would it be required for the album artwork, etc. to display on the unit? I'm a little confused, here...
matthew  Dec 17, 2013
1 answer
A
The Kenwood DDX470's rear-panel USB (type-A) port and rear-panel 3.5mm A/V AUX input allow you to connect select Apple iPod/iPhones using the Kenwood KCA-IP202 iPod cable (113IP202, sold separately). The unit's USB port handles the control, metadata display, and charging of your iPod/iPhone. You can navigate through your music and video files using the head unit's touchscreen controls and view song and movie info on its display, while your iPod/iPhone charges. The 3.5mm AV input handles audio and video transfer from your iPod/iPhone to the Kenwood DDX470. By using the Auxiliary input, the music travels to the receiver as an analog signal, so you can even play the Digital-Rights-Protected files you've stored on your iPod/iPhone. The unit's rear-panel AV input must be set to "iPod" in order to playback audio/video from your connected iPod/iPhone. Video can only be displayed while the vehicle is in park.

Q
Does it matter if the small jack port cable is 2 or 3 channel? I need to run an extension cable from my visor down to unit but noticed it only had 2 channel
jeff  Dec 03, 2013
1 answer
A
Thanks for your question Jeff. In general a 2 channel mini cable will only carry stereo audio. The 3rd channel on these cables is often video. A quick call or chat with an Advisor should help determine the best cable for your application.
