Why is this question important?

If you choose the home theater option, we'll only show you receivers that can play back surround sound through a home theater speaker system. These receivers can play music in either stereo or surround sound, in addition to multichannel movie soundtracks.

If you choose "stereo," we'll only show you receivers with amplification and connections for a pair of speakers. This type of receiver is mainly used for music playback.
