Product Research

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch EQ wired remote is an equalizer for your amplifier's bass and treble that can be mounted anywhere in your vehicle. This remote control will automatically over-ride your amplifiers on-board EQ settings and deliver up to 3x the bass and/or treble with the turn of its rotary knob.

Compatibility: The Rockford Punch EQ is for use only with 2007-up Rockford Fosgate amplifiers (Power and Punch series) with the Remote Punch EQ port. .

On-Board Equalizer: The Punch EQ wired remote features an onboard equalizer with up to +18dB at 45Hz and/or up to +12db boost at 12kHz. The Punch EQ works along with the crossover switches on your compatible Rockford amplifier. When the crossover is set to low-pass, the Punch EQ acts as a variable bass boost; 0-18 dB at 45 Hz. When the crossover is set to high-pass, the Punch EQ acts as variable treble boost, 0-12 dB at 12 kHz. When the crossover is set to all-pass, both the bass and treble boost circuits are active.

Note: On the 4-channel amplifiers, the Punch EQ controls only the rear channels.

LED: The Punch EQ features an built-in LED that lights up when your Rockford amplifier is powered on. The unit also comes supplied with an external LED that can be mounted in a separate location up to 8" from the Punch EQ.

Connection: An RJ-45 jack is located on the rear of the Punch EQ. The Punch EQ comes supplied with a 16.5' remote cable that is ran through your vehicle and connected from the Punch EQ to the RJ-45 jack on your compatible Rockford amplifier. Once you install the remote Punch EQ, the rear Punch EQ control on your Rockford amplifier is disabled, and replaced completely by the remote.

Installation: The Punch EQ comes supplied with cables and mounting hardware for installation. The wired remote can be mounted in a variety of ways.

  • Outside the Panel Install: In this installation the Punch EQ is surface mounted with its housing intact by the supplied metal mounting bracket and two mounting screws.
  • Panel Install: In this installation the Punch EQ's housing is disassembled and the module is flush mounted in the dash. The remote module is installed from the backside of the panel. The unit's rotary knob extends out approximately 0.5" from the dash.
  • Panel Install-Separated LED Placement: In this installation the Punch EQ's housing is disassembled as well as the internal LED. The built-in LED is removed and replaced by the external LED and can be mounted approximately to 6" away from the Punch EQ. Both the wired remote module and wired external LED are installed from the backside of the panel and flush mounted in the dash. The unit's rotary knob extends out approximately 0.5" from the dash.

Q
I read that this will only boost 45 hz? I want to run this with a Power T600-4 4 channel amp to control high (12 khz) as well as the low (45 hz) parts of the Punch EQ. Will this boost both ends of the spectrum, or just the bass?
james  Mar 15, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings James. Excellent question. This Punch EQ cannot really do both at the same time. With a 4 channel amp, it can only control the rear outputs, not both front and rear. You almost need two of these, and two 2 channel amps to accomplish your plan.

Q
Is this a 6 pin connector and knob controller it's what I'm looking for?.
daniel  Oct 05, 2023
1 answer
A
This knob is not universal and is only intended for use with specific Rockford Fosgate amplifiers. Although it may connect to whichever amplifier you're using, it may not be configure for use with an amplifier outside of the Rockford 2007+ Punch/Power series.

Q
Will it work with a PM300X1?
gene  Sep 01, 2023
1 answer
A
The PEQ would not be compatible. However, the PLC2 will do the job. Here's a link to that item: www.crutchfield.com/p_575PLC2/item.html

Q
How to install with an amp thatâ??s already plugged in? Is it a plug and play type? And should the volume knob be all the way down before plugging it in with the car off?
massimo  Dec 24, 2021

A
Do you have a RF amp? If so there should be a plug in and to tune the amp turn it up so you know where clipping point is and not fry your subs or speakers.
robert  Dec 24, 2021
A
Yes it is plig and play. Yes the volume should be turned all of the way down with first installation and the car can be running or turned off...

Q
The rj45 cable is too long Iâ??m using it on a motorcycle application I. Would like to buy a 3 footer. Where and what cable can I buy?
emilio  Nov 23, 2021

A
We do not offer a cable that will work in place of this one and Rockford Fosgate does not list a shorted one on their web site. We do offer RJ45 connectors and the tool to attach them that can be used that to shorten this cable: https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/rj45.html?fa=1#&nvpair=FFCategory|[rank315350]In-wall%20Cables%20%26%20Distribution

Q
Will this fit a rocksford fosgate punch p1s2-12 with a Pioneer GM-A3702 2-channel amp?
dylan  Apr 14, 2020
1 answer
A
assuming you have ONE sub - sub is 250 watts, 2 ohms. at 95 watts per channel amp is way too small to power that sub, and also is not stable to run bridged at 2 ohms. a 4 ohm version of this sub is made, but that amp is still too weak to power it. hope this helps.

kerry john  Apr 20, 2019

Q
Is it 6 wire cable.????
trenton  Feb 02, 2019

A
It's pretty close to that ... we only needed a couple of feet from the amp since we mounted amp under seat so I never really measured it... it's all tucked under the carpet to the console now... I'm pretty confident it's at least that long though... my son is at Texas Tech University 2 hours away so I don't have it to even try to measure it.

Will this work with the P300-10 powered subwoofer?
rebecca  Mar 04, 2016

A
The p300-10 comes with a remote bass knob but you don't have to use it unless you want adjustability from the drivers seat.
jim  Mar 04, 2016
A
edit.. *** I can't see why it wouldn't work...
gary  Mar 04, 2016
A
A remote bass knob should have been included with the sub, I know this works with the newer amps, incanted er why it wouldn't work with this set up as well. It wouldnt be cost efficient for Rockford to make a different knob.

Q
Ok, I am going to run 2 subs with 2 identical amps. I would like to run just one Rockford Fosgate PEQ Amp Remote Control up front to run both amps/subs. Is there a splitter/collector that I can run both amp remote wires into and then just run one wire/remote control to the front?

markus  Oct 22, 2016
