Zak and Chris take a look at Canon's PowerShot G10 in this short video.

Zak: Hi, I'm Zak.

Chris: And I'm Chris, and we're down in the Crutchfield studio to give you a close look at Canon's PowerShot G10 digital camera. Now this is a point-and-shoot camera, but it's top-of-the-line. It's almost an SLR. It has so much versatility. It gives you 14.7-megapixel recording, which is huge for a point-and-shoot, right?

Zak: Yeah, that's a lot.

Chris: Razor-sharp photos. 5X optical zoom. Plus a really large three-inch LCD screen. That's large for a point-and-shoot. And also a viewfinder, so you can decide how you want to compose your shots.

Zak: I like the fact that they've made the wide-angle lens a 28mm lens now. Normally, you're talking about 35 to 38 millimeters on a point-and-shoot camera. But this one lets you get even wider. So when you're taking pictures of landscapes or buildings or something, you don't have to be as far away to do it. For instance, we took this group shot outside just a minute ago, and the photographer was right in front of us, rather than having to step back a few feet.

Chris: And we didn't have to smoosh together, like sometimes you have to do.

Zak: Right, sometimes you don't have those few feet. It's really handy there. If you like to take control of your photos, there are dials and knobs within easy reach to do so. For instance, exposure compensation for changing light. ISO control here — you can go from mode to mode on the top dial. And there's a nice round wheel right by your thumb that lets you go through the menu with ease. It's really well laid-out.

Chris: Yeah. And you can also shoot in full manual control, or even RAW mode, which gives you greater control over your final image. Or if you're just in the mood to just point and shoot — you just don't want to fool with all that — you can put it in auto mode. And this camera is so smart. We tried to take a bad picture earlier in auto mode and couldn't do it.

Zak: Couldn't do it.

Chris: So that's Canon imaging for you. It's just a really great camera, whether you're an SLR owner already, and you just want something smaller to take on short trips or just day-to-day; or whether you're new to digital photography and you just want to ease into that more creative control.

Zak: Yeah. And if you want to learn more about it, go to crutchfield.com/CanonG10.
