Features

Enclosure: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R2S-1X10 houses a single R2SD4 10" subwoofer. The sealed enclosure is constructed of 5/8" Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and covered with black high density carpet. There is a pair of high current spring posts on the right side (when facing the subwoofer); the terminal will accommodate pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge. The subwoofer's dual voice coils are wired in parallel and present a 2-ohm load to your amplifier.

Voice Coil Former: The R2SD4-10's voice coil former is made of anodized aluminum to provide superior heat dissipation. Unlike traditional plastic, aluminum acts as a heat-sink to quickly dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil. This keeps the subwoofer cool and improves durability.

Stitched Tinsel Leads: The multipoint, periodic stitched technique of attaching the tinsel lead wires to the spider spreads stress and strain over a greater area, reducing fatigue and the possibility of shorting. This significantly improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.

Stamped Steel Basket: The R2SD4-10 subwoofer features a stamped steel basket for added rigidity.

CEA-2031 Compliant: The power handling specifications for the R2SD4-10 subwoofer conform to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.

Q
Would this fit under the passenger rear seat of a 2006 chevy colorado crew cab?
travis  Jan 20, 2024
1 answer
A
Based on our measurements, it does not appear to be possible. However, we would recommending checking with a tape measure when possible just to be sure. The measurements of this enclosure are 19-1/8"W x 13-1/2"H x 5-1/4"D1 x 3-1/4"D2.

Q
How do you hookup 2 of them to mono amp?
robert  Jan 03, 2024
1 answer
A
You would need to make certain that your mono subwoofer amp is 1-ohm stable, Robert. IF your amp is 1-ohm stable, you would connect the Rockford Fosgate R2S-1x10 subwoofers in a parallel wiring configuration. If your amp is not 1-ohm stable, connecting both subwoofers would cause damage to your amp. I hope this helps!

Q
Can you replace the speaker on this with p3s shallows?
angelo  Oct 03, 2022
2 answers
A
The P3 shallow fits fine & works well in that box, but I think it needs more air space to perform lije it is supposed to
michael  Feb 08, 2023
A
According to Rockford Fosgate, that enclosure is designed to only mount the R2SD4 subwoofer. Crutchfield has not tested other Rockford subwoofers in that enclosure to verify fitment.

Can two fit behind the back seat of 2017 tundra crewmax?
brent  Jun 14, 2021

We do not expect this box to fit. Our research department has a limit of 11" for the box height and this box is taller than this limit. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check for other options

What the mounting depth on this box?
connor st.  Aug 19, 2020

A
Dimensions were listed on the Crutchfield website when i bought mine. I would have to pull seat to measure actual depth. It is tight behind rear seat in my Tundra CM but fits.

Q
Could I run 300 watt RMS to this Subwoofer? I want to use a Rockford Fosgate 600 watt 5 channel amp to power my speakers as well but the amp supplies 300 watt RMS to the sub channel and im wondering if that is too much.

well with every amp, or the amps i've been using, the amount of power can be reduced. Even by manually tuning with the settings on your receiver or EQ.. I also prefer bigger amps anyway. The awesome support staff at crutchfield would know more.
glen  Apr 23, 2020
A
That's probably exactly the power you want but you need to adjust it down and get it just under what you need. The speaker hits great but if you overdo it the sub wont last long. Test it good and keep the power just under what works and it'll last a long time like mine has. Happy thumping!

Q
Will this work with a Memphis srx 1.250?
chris  Apr 30, 2019
2 answers
A
This Sub/enclosure would be a great match up with the Memphis 250.1 amplifier. We generally recommend powering a sub between 75-150% of the rated RMS power, with it being better to be over the RMS than under. Feel free to call one of our Advisors if you have more questions! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

It should work just fine. You will need to adjust the gain to the appropriate level. This is important to get the best sound out of the speaker/ woofer. I have a 200 watt amp in my GMC Sierra and have the sun mounted behind the back seat. It fills the sound in very well but not obnoxious. More like a thump than a boom. If you have the owners Manuel for the amp it wil/ should tell you how to set up the gain in ohms for the speaker level to match your system.

Q
Would a punch p200-2 power this sub?
jamie  Feb 14, 2016
1 answer
A
That amp only provides 50 watts RMS @ 2 ohms per channel. The sub is rated at 100-400 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. Even though bridging the amp for 200 watts will result in an impedance mismatch as the amp is stable at 4 ohms for 200 watts while bridged. You wouldn't get clean frequency response as the amp would offer too much resistance to effectively drive a 2-ohm sub. You're better off looking for a mono amp with a rating of 200-300 watts RMS @ 2 ohms stable for this sub box.

Q
Will this fit behind the seat of an 08 gmc sierra extended cab?
slade  Dec 10, 2015
1 answer
A
Hard to say. Everything in my research points to people installing under the rear seats in the '08 Sierra. There's plenty of custom boxes for that application. I'd start by measuring from the back of the seats to the rear wall...you'll need 5.25" just for the box, but you'll want closer to 6" (at a minimum) to compensate for the sub cone and excursion movement (don't want the sub cone banging against the rear seat). Secondly, you will need to measure farther up the back of the seat (the distance upwards will be the boxes height measurement) to ensure you're getting 3.25" of clearance (probably need at least 4" for aforementioned compensations). Hope this helps. Another box to consider, though vastly more expensive, which is smaller (and totes a 13.5" sub) would be the JL Audio Stealth boxes. Best of luck.

What size wire (GAUGE) are the terminals?
brock  Oct 10, 2015

Anything larger than .12 ga. is overkill for 10" sub terminals...but you could probably squeeze .08 ga. into these connectors.

I believe im running 8 gauge

Q
I have a Polk 660.4 300 Watt Amp. I plan to use the front channels for two 6x9 Polk DB691's and bridge the other 2 channels for this sub HOWEVER the Polk amp is 4OHM and the Sub is 2OHM (rockford fosgate r2s 1x10). Will I have a problem ? The Polk amp will have very limited ventilation btw...
johnf  May 29, 2015
1 answer
A
The sub will present a 2ohm load to the amp, as you said. At 150w bridged on an amp rated for a stable 4ohm load, coupled with the fact that ventilation will be limited, you're likely to run into problems with the amp overheating and activation of any protection circuits, likely causing the amp to be somewhat useless. It's usually okay to have present more resistance to an amplified channel capable of stable lower resistance operation (i.e. 4 ohm sub with a 2 ohm amp) but the other way around will cause problems. I hope this helps answer your question.
tobias  May 30, 2015
Q
It looks like the box is around .38cf, but this sub by itself has a recommendation of .7cf for a sealed box and bigger for a ported. Doesn't that mean the box is too small for that sub?
jim  May 30, 2014
2 answers
A
There's a trade-off between enclosure size and low frequency response. The R2SD4-10 has a resonant frequency Fs of 38Hz and to get that a sealed enclosure should have a volume of 0.7 cubic feet. Since this enclosure is smaller, the speaker's resonant frequency will be a bit higher and I wouldn't expect the R2S-1X10 to operate well all the way down to the claimed 38 Hz. But you probably won't notice the difference.
stephen  Jun 04, 2014

The speaker sounds great in its enclosure and fits perfectly behind the seat in my truck. No downsides for my use. Save the rocket science for rocket science
