Take a closer look and you'll notice a couple of cool innovations. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the surround to the cone that yields up to 25% more cone area, for fuller sound and stronger performance. They build the crossover into the speaker frame so you don't have to find an area to mount a separate box. The slots around the frame eliminate the need to redrill screw holes when the factory holes are just a little bit off. Grilles are included.

Features

Injection-Molded Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mineral filled, injection-molded polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

Woofer Size: Although the FlexFit basket allows a wide range of screw hole positions, it does not offer the standard three hole 6-1/2" pattern. Drilling new screw holes may be necessary.

PEI Dome Tweeters: The 1" dome tweeters are made of Poly-Ether-Imide (PEI); PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The tweeters have multiple mounting configurations; choose flush or surface mount. The surface mount housing can be positioned at a 10° or 30° angle. Depending on the mount used, the installed dimensions are:

Crossovers: The high-pass crossovers are integrated into the baskets of the woofers. The slope is 12dB per octave.

Speaker Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" wide positive (+) terminals and 0.187" wide negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the vehicle-specific speaker harnesses Crutchfield supplies for many vehicle applications. We recommend that a pack of assorted female quick slides (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately) be purchased and spliced to the harnesses to adapt them to the speaker terminals.

If by the middle you mean the center of the cone, no. The center part is a concave design.

Not necessary, but you can if its your preference. I'm running two pair of these a pair of 6X9's and a pair of 12" P3's. Only amp is a mono for the subs. Sounds great.

It requires your car battery to operate. Which is a 12v battery.

I'm not sure why the instructions say that. I installed the system in my Subaru with no problems and I didn't have to use a 12v battery.

The crossovers are built into the woofers so the wires for the tweeters plug right into the woofers

They come with a passive crossover. I wired them in with the crossover in series. Tweeters that come as a component system work best and last longer if you wire them according to the manufacture's directions.

The speakers have a crossover built into them. They don't allow as much freedom as a traditional component speaker but for the price they are very decent speakers.

On this model of speaker, the crossover is built into the 6.5" speaker. When you get them, you will see 2 sets of terminals on the 6.5". One set is for the vehicle wiring, the other set is for the tweeter. I loved this about these speakers, because it made wiring a breeze. You don't have to worry about mounting a separate crossover and all the extra wiring that goes along with it. Rockford even provides the extra wiring for the tweeter in the box. I love these speakers and would recommend them to anyone.

Best to install on the pillar or top of the door facing you ,or mount in the dash pointed toward the windshield ,that will be the best sound

I had a 08 frontier and I fit the same size tweeter in the factory location. I took the old assembly out and made a bracket out of plexiglass glass and they fit like a glove. I installed the p 165, s in my girlfriend's 12 corolla They sound really good and are well built. They will need an amp to get the best sound out of them.

Yes but for a Chevy Silverado. They sound great but maybe need some real tuning. If not it sounds like they are screaming at you without bass. But after the tuning they sound really great. Kenneth
