Tracy picked Blaupunkt's Hollywood cassette receiver its excellent tuner, strong internal power (25 watts RMS, 40 peak x 4), six-level loudness control, and 4-volt preamp outputs make it a great choice for a system controller. The Hollywood and its companion IDC-A09 5-disc CD changer are custom-mounted in the 4-inch tall dash opening for a simple, yet elegant look.
Kenwood's KFC-P602 component system makes sweet music in the front doors the 6-1/2" woofers fit nicely in the factory door openings, and the 1" tweeters are flush-mounted in the upper door panels. The JBL GTO962 6"x9" 2-way speakers pump out some extra mid-bass punch from the factory rear deck locations. All interior speakers are powered by the Hollywood's internal amp.
Tracy was resigned to losing a good part of her trunk to an amp and sub enclosure, until she checked out the MTX Amplified ThunderForm for the Honda Accord. A special-design MTX 10" woofer teams up with a 100-watt Class D amplifier in a color-matched high-density polyethylene enclosure. The ThunderForm is molded to the curves of the Accord's trunk, so compact it's easy to overlook at first glance. Tracy used a StreetWires amp wiring kit (instead of the power harness included with the ThunderForm) to route power from the battery to the MTX enclosure.
Tracy now grooves on CD, cassette, and radio at her fingertips, with excellent imaging and powerful bass, all without altering substantially the look of her Honda. Check out the photos and you'll agree nice job, Tracy, on your all-powerful Accord!
