The Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder clamps to your tablet, providing a stable base for your device. The magnesium alloy clamps have rubber slipcovers to hold your tablet securely without scratching it. Use the Cylinder to position your tablet slightly angled towards you on a flat surface. Or fold out the built-in kickstand and have the Cylinder hold your tablet upright.
Two front-firing 1-3/4" full-range speakers deliver crisp, clear sound from your music and movie soundtracks. A side-firing 1-11/16" woofer fills out the bass, and the system's advanced digital signal processor optimizes speaker performance to provide an engaging, spacious soundfield.
Tara: We're here at the Definitive Technology booth at CES 2013, talking to David about their new Sound Cylinder. So David, what can you tell us about it?
David: We're introducing it at the show here. We've noticed that all of the tablet users out there have a real problem in they get used to using videos, You Tubes, whatever, as part of having the experience, but the sound quality of the iPad is so grim — same thing with any of the tablets we've played with — that you end up almost having to wear headphones to listen to it. When you're using it around the house being tethered like that is really inconvenient, so we've created a cinematic experience for your tablet.
Cute little kickstand. It's designed to stand on a counter and give you a nice, warm, rich sound. We've picked up technology from our home speakers, where we're using a 2.1 technology, where we're actually using a separately amplified bass driver that gives you better bass response than anybody else is accomplishing anything close to the price in Bluetooth.
The other nice thing about Bluetooth, very easy to pair to the unit, very easy to select. Right on the front you can kick it in. We've done an automatic pairing procedure so there's no special buttons to hit. All you do is turn on Bluetooth, turn on this, and say connect on your tablet, and you're done.
Tara: Excellent. Thanks. So that's the Sound Cylinder from Definitive Technology.
