Video: JVC App Link Mode
JVC's App Link mode lets you add some cool functionality, like GPS navigation and streaming music, to compatible JVC DVD receivers by connecting your iPhone® 4 or 4S. Android™ users can control Pandora® Internet Radio through the Bluetooth® connection in the Bluetooth-enabled models.
Zak: I'm at the JVC booth at CES 2013 and Jacob's gonna take us through the new multimedia receivers and how they work with advanced App Link mode.
Jacob: Yeah, absolutely. So we have three multimedia receivers this year. We have the AV61, the AV61BT, which adds Bluetooth into it, and then the AV71BT. All of these have WVGA screens, and they're also detachable, too, so you have detachable anti-theft security on all these units, which is something that's kind of unique, you know, keep peace of mind in the vehicle.
App Link mode is something we developed to work with various apps that are good for driving such as, like, navigation, audio streaming applications, internet radio and stuff like that. So we work with about fifteen different app companies right now and in each one, advanced App Link mode allows you to connect to your iPod or iPhone and display the application contents on your screen and get the audio through your speakers.
And in some cases you can have full control over the application on the screen too. So like I said, you know, we work with companies like MotionX-GPS Drive for navigation. We work with DashCommand for vehicle diagnostics, and then all the way over to, you know, like Pandora and TuneIn radio for internet streaming and stuff like that too. So, pretty cool feature, and it's just kind of a way that you can get a little more than audio out of your iPhone when you connect it to your A/V head unit.
Zak: Great. Thank you, Jacob.
