Video: Klipsch Gallery G-17 Air
Powered speaker system
The Klipsch Gallery G-17 Air's Apple AirPlay compatibility makes it an important part of your home wireless network. It can wirelessly connect with any Wi-Fi® enabled device that uses iTunes® — such as an iPod touch, laptop, or iPhone. And because AirPlay can support multiple speaker systems simultaneously, you can have two or more G-17 Airs in different rooms all playing music from your computer, for example. Crutchfield Advisor Kramer tried it out, and shares his observations.
So I got to spend the summer with the Klipsch G-17 AirPlay speaker system. It was a real treat actually. Really blew me away in terms of sound quality, you know, for a fairly compact size. The side ports really give you some deep, authentic bass, and the clarity of the sound is really something that you'll notice right away.
I'm an Apple guy and love using AirPlay, so it was the perfect companion to my iPhone and iPad, being able to stream whatever music I had, whatever content I wanted to listen to wirelessly to the speaker. Also very portable, so I could take it from my office to the living room, take it out to the porch. If I'm cooking out for the summertime, I can listen to music all afternoon — so very easy to set up.
The remote control allows you to switch songs, change volume, change sources. And when I brought it back in, plugged into my computer, you can listen to audio directly through the USB as well. It is wall-mountable and the speaker grille does come off, so if you want sort of a lower footprint option for a hideaway space it works very nicely as well, so really a nice piece to consider for the house.
