Video: Skype on Panasonic TVs
Most of the people appearing in our videos are employees at Crutchfield. We pull in folks from around the company to share their expertise. A lot of our on-camera stars come from our Advisor Group — they help people choose the right gear via phone, email and chat every day, so they're good at explaining the products and technologies.
Panasonic came to Crutchfield to give us a demo of how to video chat with family and friends using Skype™ on a Panasonic TV.
What we are looking at here is the Panasonic 2011 Viera connect menu. Going into the Skype account, and having a USB connected Skype camera, sign in with an account. And this system is great to be used if you have families overseas, elsewhere in the world, or down the street.
We can add their contacts in just like we do on our cell phones using the menu. We just search by their user name, or their screen name. One of the contacts that I have currently listed here is a Panasonic sales support representative in the northeast region. And on the new 2011 home theaters in a box and Blu-ray players, with the insertion of a SD card, will allow us to record a outgoing video message.
So we can call Jason and he has recorded an outgoing video message. We can also increase the screen size. Now Jason can now go into his system at home and access the voice mail, or if we were to receive an incoming video voice mail we would be able to access it in that menu there. And that is the 2011 Skype interface for Panasonic Viera TVs.
