I purchased a radio at Best Buy for my 1990 Toyota Pickup truck. I went to have them install it and they said that my truck didn't have a factory installed radio and was missing the original rails. So at this point I can return the unit to them... Do you have the install rails if I purchase the radio from you?

Hi, I fit a clarion CX505 to replace my shaker 500 Mustang 2005 I don't know where to plug the blue/white wire(amplifier turn on lead) because there is no wire unuse with the factory plug The sub don't work Do i need the metra AFDI-5v?

  • Robert Ferency-Viars from Crutchfield

    Posted on 6/17/2015 12:20:27 PM

Jacques, yes, you need the AFDI-5V to eliminate the turn-on "pop" from the subwoofer amp, once you get it working that is. Here's our web page for your Mustang's wiring harness. Click on the "Details" tab, then click on "Download owner's manual" to get a wiring diagram that will show you how to connect the wiring harness to the AFDI-5V, which should then get your subwoofer working. Good luck!

HI, to change the stereo, do I have to change the speakers amplifiers etc?

  • Robert Ferency-Viars from Crutchfield

    Posted on 6/24/2015 11:02:05 AM

Shafayet, normally, no. You can change either the speakers or the stereo independently of one another, and that's how most people do it: first the stereo and later on, the speakers, for example. There are a few factory audio systems, most notably some older Bose systems, where this is not the case. In those systems, if you're going to change one part, you have replace the entire system and maybe even run new wiring. But that, thankfully, is a rare situation.

Do you still have install kits for 2000 Mercurys? The hole is double din size just like in my 2005 Ford f150. The kit for that vehicle has been great; now ten years going.

  • Alexander Hrabe from Crutchfield

    Posted on 7/6/2015 9:46:48 AM

Brad, yes, we do have kits for a number of 2000 Mercury vehicles. You can use our vehicle selector to confirm which stereos fit your car and which kit you'll need for the installation. Or just give us a call at 1.888.955.6000.

Dash kit? (Radio / disc changer). My 2004 disc changer quit working on me. I'm fairly handy on installation work with radios and dash kits..ect. Can you tell me what direction i need to go to find a dash kit to add a double din DVD player to my 04' Infiniti fx35? They seem fairly hard to find online and I've had good luck w crutch field before . Let me know if there's something out there I can get through you guys

  • Alexander Hrabe from Crutchfield

    Posted on 7/13/2015 9:30:39 AM

Tim: Unfortunately, we don't carry a kit for the '04 Infiniti fx35. You'll have to fabricate a kit to add a double-DIN stereo. If you know of a professional installer in your area, it might be worth checking with them to see what they can do.

Just spoke to Marshall about a mounting issue for a Kenwood marine unit for a boat . I inquired if there was a flush mount kit, as I don't have a dashboard (sailboat). Marshall directed me to a universal mount kit and offered to ship it free. Although it wasn't what I had in mind it will work out better. Thanks Marshall and Crutchfield your customer service is fantastic!

  • Alexander Hrabe from Crutchfield

    Posted on 7/27/2015 9:24:36 AM

Andy, we can't help you with installing the head unit from your old car into your current car, if that's what you're asking. There's no guarantee that it will fit and we don't carry OEM to OEM wiring harnesses. However, if you're interested in an aftermarket stereo, you have options (depending on your model X5) and we can help you with that. Give us a call at 1.888.955.6000.

Robert, that will depend on your vehicle. You can use our vehicle selector to confirm which stereos fit your car and get some info on what else is needed for the installation. Or give us a call.

  • Alexander Hrabe from Crutchfield

Jerry, this is the kit we recommend for a double-DIN installation. However, installation will require modification of your sub-dash. You may want to give us a call before you order online, or consult a professional installer if this is your first installation.
