Most of the people appearing in our videos are employees at Crutchfield. We pull in folks from around the company to share their expertise. A lot of our on-camera stars come from our Advisor Group — they help people choose the right gear via phone, email and chat every day, so they're good at explaining the products and technologies.

Niles MultiZone Audio Systems can send sound from music sources, like your iPod®, to multiple rooms in your home.

Video Transcript

Tara: Hi. I'm Tara, and this is Ringo, and we're here in the Crutchfield video studio to talk about Niles MultiZone audio systems.

Ringo: They're flexible, they're cool, and they send music throughout the entire house.

Tara: Right. And we've set up a simple system here to show you some of the coolest features.

Ringo: So let's say we're here in the living room with the receiver, which happens to be the Niles ZR-6.

Tara: And the receiver is where you're going to connect your audio sources, like a CD changer. Niles receivers have built-in radio tuners, but the ZR-6 in particular also lets you connect an iPod®.

Ringo: And the job of a multi-channel receiver is to actually send the music throughout to the individual rooms.

Tara: You'll put a controller in each room where you want to listen to music. They install flush in the wall. And this is where you'll select sources, as well as adjust playback and volume.

Ringo: And we happen to be here in the "kitchen" with the TS-Pro touch screen controller. It's easy, it's intuitive, and it was designed with the iPod in mind.

Tara: Definitely. For example, if you connect an iPod to the ZR-6 receiver you'll see the same menus that you're used to on the screen.

Ringo: And this model is great for the main room in the house. It looks good and it can control every room. And we also offer some more basic controllers as well.

Tara: Right. And those are really ideal for other rooms like a kid's bedroom or a laundry room. There's a couple of things we wanted to mention about installation. First of all, you'll run CAT- 5, or Ethernet, cable in the wall to connect each controller back to the receiver.

Ringo: And of course you're going to need speakers to play music in each room, and because this is an in-wall controller a very popular source would be in-ceiling or in-wall speakers.

Tara: And those speakers connect to the receiver with in-wall rated speaker wire. You can learn about installing in-wall cable at crutchfield.com/inwallwire.

Ringo: We've shown you a couple simple things this Niles MultiZone system can do, but it's actually expandable up to eighteen zones, and you can really customize it for your home. If you have any further questions, crutchfield.com/NilesMultiZone.

Tara: And if you're interested in creating a system you can call one of our A/V designers, like Ringo here, at 1-800-555-9407.
