Tara: I'm here on the Crutchfield campus with Polk's Atrium line of outdoor speakers. Today we're going to discuss which models might work best for your yard.

All of the models feature a rugged, all-weather design. They've undergone rigorous testing and they meet or exceed military standards for outdoor readiness. So no matter which model you choose, they'll sound great and last for a really long time. All of the speakers are designed to minimize distortion, and their cabinets were specially built to spread sound over a larger area. But which model's right for you?

As you go up in number, the speakers will play lower and can handle more power, so they're better suited for larger areas, or if you want the best sound possible from your outdoor audio system. The Atrium4 and 5 are good for smaller listening spaces, and the 5 goes a little bit lower than the 4. To add more bass to these speakers consider adding the Atrium Sub10, which is an outdoor subwoofer.

The 6 and 7 models are good for larger listening spaces, and they're going to have better bass response. The 7 goes a little bit lower and it's more efficient, meaning you'll get more volume from the same amount of power.

The Atrium8 is Polk's flagship model. It's great for large spaces or more demanding listeners, and it's going to give you excellent bass response. It's also ideal for small or awkward spaces because of a really cool feature it has. Instead of installing a pair of speakers, you can run both channels to this speaker, flip a switch, and it'll play the left and right channel of stereo music.

Polk's made these speakers really easy to install. It's usually tricky holding up a speaker while attaching it to the bracket, but this one just pops on and is much simpler.

When you buy from Crutchfield you'll get our free tech support, and that means if you have questions while you're installing the speakers and connecting them back to your receiver inside your house, you can always give our folks a call.

My 11 year old Atriums have survived 3 moves, continuous humidity, salt air, hurricane, dust, and still produce superb sound in a wide range of power.
