Most of the people appearing in our videos are employees at Crutchfield. We pull in folks from around the company to share their expertise. A lot of our on-camera stars come from our Advisor Group — they help people choose the right gear via phone, email and chat every day, so they're good at explaining the products and technologies.
Just one of Harmony's smart universal remotes can replace all the remotes on your coffee table. They provide ultra-simple control over your audio/video system, making it easier to use. Learn about the One, 900, and 1100 remotes in this short video.
Tara: Hi, I'm Tara, and this is Ringo, and we're here in the Crutchfield video studio to talk about Harmony remote controls. Today we'll be talking about the One, the 900, and the 1100.
Ringo: And the great thing about all of these remotes is you can take all of your other remotes , stash them away, put them in the closet and just one of these remotes can control all of your gear.
Tara: All Harmony remote controls will give you one-button operation, and that means that when you hit the activities button, like watch Blu-ray, it'll turn on your TV, your home theater receiver, and your Blu-ray player and make sure that everything is on the right input.
Ringo: One of my favorite buttons on these remotes is the "help" button. Let's say for example you turn on all of your equipment and the cable box doesn't come on; if you press the "help" button it will actually step you through the procedure to fix the problem.
Tara: Set up is super easy. You program the remote by connecting it to your computer and using the intuitive on-line wizard.
Ringo: So, I just happen to have one of these Harmony One remotes in my house and the first thing that I noticed when I picked it up is that it actually is very comfortable to use. A couple neat things about it is it has a color touch screen and it actually wakes up when you pick it up. It illuminates and it has a handy-dandy rechargeable cradle.
Tara: The Harmony 900 adds RF capability, so you can hide all your gear away in a cabinet or in another room and still control it using this one remote. It features a sharper touch screen and four color buttons that work great for your DVR, Blu-ray player, or gaming console.
Ringo: And this is the Harmony 1100 remote which features a simple streamlined layout, a larger 3-1/2" touch screen, and it actually features only the buttons that you need to use so you don't have to worry about all those other ones.
