Video: Audioengine wireless adapters demo

By

Aaron Cochran, the trainer from Audioengine, came to Crutchfield to demo their wireless adapters.

Tara: Aaron's here today showing us Audioengine's line of speakers and wireless adapters and we had a chance to sit down with him and find out a little bit more. So Audioengine has a line of wireless adapters. I have the iPod one upstairs, and I use it with my iPhone and it works very, very well.
Aaron: Yeah, it works really great. It's a pretty simple solution. The AW2 is just a simple plug in to the bottom of an iPod or an iPhone and it comes with a receiver. And this receiver plugs in through USB and in the packaging you get a USB power adapter so you can plug it in to somewhere that has power if you want to send the audio to something that's not a computer. So you can hook it easily with a little RCA adapter to any stereo. Of course, it works great with our products too — has a thirty foot range so it's got a pretty good distance and it uses a very cool switching 2.4ghz technology to transmit so you get uncompressed CD quality audio really simply with no set up necessary.
Tara: So that was the AW2, but there's also an AW1. How do those differ?
Aaron: Well, the AW1 is actually a universal transmitter system. You know even though iPods and iPhones are really popular, we felt like there needed to be another option out there. There are a lot of reasons why you might want to use a universal transmission system. So one of the easiest ways to use this is by plugging the transmitter into your computer and plugging the receiver into either an Audioengine A5 speaker or you can use the power adapter and audio output cables to send it to your stereo. Another easy way to use an AW1 is to use it as a rear wireless speaker system or even like a wireless subwoofer. So really you can do a lot with it and the range is pretty good too. We actually have a hundred foot range, and that's probably being pretty conservative.
Tara: And we tested it today during our training. You were wandering around with your laptop and trying to see how far it could go.
Aaron: Absolutely. It was a lot of fun.
Tara: So Aaron thank you so very much for sitting down with us today and talking to us about Audioengine. And if you want to learn more about Audioengine speakers and adapters you can call us, email us, or chat with us online.
