Virginia E-Retailer Wins Top Award

Charlottesville-based Crutchfield Corporation has just been selected for inclusion in BizRate.com's "Circle of Excellence." Of the 1,500 web merchants surveyed, only the 20 best were honored. "Circle of Excellence" awards were determined through surveys of one million online shoppers who rated the quality of services they received during the past Christmas holiday season. BizRate.com's unbiased ratings have become the standard for the online retail industry.

Company founder and CEO Bill Crutchfield said "This is a tremendous honor for the 500 employees of Crutchfield Corporation who work tirelessly to serve our customers, and it is testament to our corporate strategy of providing our shoppers with the best information available."

Founded in 1974 as a car stereo mail order retailer, Crutchfield has evolved into the nation's leading catalog and online retailer of car and home audio products. Of its $208 million in sales last year, the company sold $64 million through its online business. Visitors view approximately one million pages each day on the company's 6,000 page Website. Based on publicly available information, Crutchfield sells more car and home audio products than any online retailer in the nation. Also, the company is the largest online retailer of any type in Virginia and, most likely, in the entire Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.

Founded in 1974, Crutchfield Corporation is the nation's largest direct integrated marketer (catalog, call center, Internet) of consumer electronics products, offering a convenient, full-service shopping destination to buyers of car and home audio/video products. Providing an unprecedented level of customer service, Crutchfield is noted for its high integrity, courtesy, product expertise, and technical support. The company offers some 4,000 products and carries all major branded lines, including Sony, Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Panasonic/Technics, JBL, Rockford Fosgate, Yamaha, U.S. Acoustics, Clarion, Infinity, Bose, Aiwa, Polk Audio, and others. Mailed to approximately 6.3 million households, Crutchfield's catalogs include comprehensive explanations of products and technology intended to help consumers make informed buying decisions. Crutchfield was the first authorized audio/video retailer on the Internet, launching its Web site http://www.crutchfield.com in the summer of 1995.
