Crutchfield Corp. expands agreement with popular Microsoft's MSN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- September 1, 2000 -- Crutchfield Corporation, the leading Internet and catalog retailer of consumer electronics, announced today that it has renewed and expanded its working alliance with Microsoft and MSN. The expanded e-commerce relationship includes additional advertising and marketing of Crutchfield and its products on the popular MSN. Crutchfield also utilizes Microsoft Passport on its web site. Passport is an online wallet that facilitates easy commercial transactions for users. The alliance will be the largest in the four years that the companies have worked together. "Each year, we've stepped up the volume of the relationship, which goes to show how pleased we are," said Alan Rimm-Kaufman, vice president of marketing for Crutchfield. Microsoft has distinguished itself by the way it has accommodated Crutchfield's corporate mission to market high-end, durable goods in cyberspace. "Other agreements in the Internet world have more of a transactional feel. Microsoft understands that we have different requirements for advertising and marketing, and they've treated us very well as a result," Rimm-Kaufman said. Founded in 1974, Crutchfield Corporation is the nation's largest direct integrated marketer (catalog, call center, and Internet) of consumer electronics products. It offers a convenient, full-service shopping destination to buyers of car and home audio/video products. Providing an unprecedented level of customer service, Crutchfield is noted for its high integrity, product expertise, and technical support. Mailed to approximately 7.5 million households, Crutchfield's catalogs include comprehensive explanations of product and technology intended to help consumers make informed buying decisions. Crutchfield was the first authorized audio/video retailer on the Internet, launching its web site (www.crutchfield.com) in the summer of 1995. ### |
