Perfect fit and simple to install
very good fit and finish and I like the fact that it was not glossy finish. perfect for my dash finish
Pros: very adaptable
I bought this as part of a kit to install a new Kenwood DDX9703S into my 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX since a standard double-DIN head unit leaves about a half inch gap on the left and right side in the dash. However, this piece is also used to mount the head unit to the car. The plastic side pieces, which attach to the head unit and to the car, are too flimsy for my liking. This flimsy-ness is made worse by details on this head unit: the screw attachment locations on the sides of the DDX9703S are recessed a bit, so since these pieces are plastic I couldn't tighten down the attachments enough without fears of damaging the plastic mounting pieces. I ended up not using this, instead swapping on the metallic mounting plates from the stock head unit, and purchasing a full trim piece made for this model Impreza that reduces the dash opening to a standard double-DIN size.
It only takes 4 little screws to put this together, but those screws were a royal pain to put in place. Once I got it finished, it was a perfect fit in my dash and holds the headunit well. I'm holding off on 5 stars because of those difficult little screws.
Pros: Perfect fit in my WRX dash, holds headunit securely, I like the little storage pocket under the radio.
Cons: Those little screws had me cussing like a sailor!
While replacing factory head unit with aftermarket piece, Crutchfield supplied this kit. Some instructions called for keeping the OE brackets, but that left a poor finished product. Discarded the factory brackets and went with the kit. It turned out quite well. No gaps.
Pros: Good fit and finish.
Cons: Plastic (wish there were other options like wood or carbon fiber)
I bought it and had my gear professionally installed. Looks good in my car with the Kenwood head unit.
Pros: Looking good.
Perfect fit trim ring looks factory
The SB-K926 kit for Subarus is pretty straight forward in design. The product is entirely plastic, and must be assembled before installation. Overall, the kit is fine, but is a little flimsy (until your head unit is bolted in). The only issue for me is that you will need a small screwdriver that is at least 6" in length before the handle in order to reach the assembly screws. I do like the addition of some longer deck mounting screws since most decks only come with very short ones.
Pros: Simple installation.
Cons: A little flimsy. Need of a long but small screwdriver to assemble.
Works great. Was difficult to get the pieces to meet up with the other properly. Finally got it to work.
It does the job it needed to do and looks good once installed, but it was very awkward to handle and assemble-poor design.
Pros: Good dash fit in factory opening, looks nice
Cons: Difficult to assemble the sides to the front-poor access to screws. Had to fiddle a bit to get it aligned with dash holes. It's thin plastic, I be worried about it breaking easily on a cold day.
The kit provided was good (my application used the double DIN trim piece), it does help fill the void in my Subaru that was left by the aftermarket stereo's provided trim kit. However, it is very plain looking and doesn't match the look of the plastic in my car. And the kit uses flexible plastic, even the mounting bracket, which is concerning about the longevity of the plastic holding up over time. Also, because of the design, the stereo sits recessed a bit, which would be ok if the stereo itself didn't have a recessed screen. So it sits back in the dash a bit more than I'd like.
Pros: Worked well with my car
Cons: Possible flimsy plastic could break over time, doesn't match style of plastic on the dash very well and it recesses the head unit a bit too far.
Made for a clean and easy installation.
Excelente calidad y fácil de instalar! Excellent quality and easy to install!
Cons:Crutchfield response on January 5, 2016 Translation provided by Crutchfield's International Sales & Support team.
It fit in my dash and it works but it seems far less substantial than the steel mounts that came with the factory unit. I fear that a thief will make short work of this mount! If I was making this purchase all over again, I would buy a double din head unit so that I could use the factory mount instead of putting this flimsy plastic mount in my dash! The quality of this product is simply not of the same level as the factory mount and the new head unit it holds.
Pros: It fits.
Cons: Very flimsy. Will not slow down or deter thieves.
We installed the Kenwood KDC-BT362U in my daughters 2008 Subaru Impreza. It worked fine but we had to trim out some plastic inside to get it to sit straight. There is a little gap between the mount and the stereo where it dips in the middle but it isn't enough to pull out and return. We just installed it and as of now it seems to look like it is supposed to be there.
Pros: Provides a cubby in the space the stereo doesn't use
Cons: Could be a little sturdier but good enough
It came with everything needed but the only drawback is my double din unit does not fit inside.
Pros: Looks nicely made and all hardware was included.
Cons: Does not fit my double din and will either buy a different one or have to make modifications
Does what it is supposed to. Mounted right up to the unit I bought and makes it fit nicely.
Just what I needed; Installed/fit perfectly.
This was a perfect fit. Only needed to use the front mask. The rest of the kit was unused for my 2013 WRX install.
Pros: Good look | Simple install | Perfect fit
Good product. Easy to use. No problem with install.
This was said already, but my single din pioneer stereo did not fit in this dash kit because the storage pocket was too big. I will have to buy a different mounting system that will fit with my stereo.
Cons: Worthless for single din stereo systemCrutchfield response on September 15, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
This fits perfectly in my 2010 Subaru Forester. I didn't need the metal sleeve that goes around the receiver (which most other adapter kits do) and I also didn't need the collar that goes around the face plate either. Gives it a nice "it's always been there" type look.
Pros: Fits very nicely. Looks like it belongs there.
Cons: wish it would've told me that I didn't need the sleeve and collar. Wasted like 30 minutes figuring it out (really not a big deal though).
The dash kit worked! It does feel a little flimsy at first, but when it is put together it feels a lot better. My stereo didn't quite fit perfectly, I had to have it back a hair in the slot, but completely unnoticeable with the face-plate on.
Pros: It works.
Cons: A little flimsy feeling at first. Didn't quite fit the stereo perfectly.
When I received this kit, I was annoyed to discover the screws which were supposed to come with it were missing. I ended up going to the hardware store to find some screws which would work. This kit was included in my order at no charge, but that doesn't mean Crutchfield should let their quality control standards slacken. Aside from the missing screws, the kit more or less fit where it was supposed to, but I didn't feel much confidence with regard to its sturdiness. Had I known this complimentary kit would be as it was, I would have ordered a higher quality one and thrown this one away.
Cons:Crutchfield response on August 3, 2015 After researching this review, the installation kit for this customer's Subaru does not include screws. It's meant to be installed re-using the factory Subaru screws that secured the factory radio. The customer's Pioneer receiver also includes screws that enable this receiver to be attached to this installation kit's brackets.
Crutchfield is great because they'll send you everything you need along with your stereo automatically so you won't waste time poking around the internet looking for what you need. This mounting gear fit perfectly into my Subaru Impreza 2008. The plastic that goes around the stereo on the dash looks great and gives it a seamless fit. I actually used the sidewall mounting harness from my original stock stereo instead of the plastic ones just because I preferred the metal.
Pros: easy to install and all the parts you'll needs.
Cons: The harness is plastic and I would prefer for it to be metal.
Helps to close in the space around an aftermarket radio well. The only issue I have with this is mine came a little bent and is noticeable if you kno what you're looking for. Otherwise it looks great. No issues with installation either.
Pros: Easy install
Cons: So light it's flimsy and can bend easily
doesn't fit well without modification, wouldn't let head unit sit flush with the face.
Pros: It was free
Cons: took modification to work with my head unit
Easy to put together...perfect fit! Makes installing in my Subaru super easy!
Pros: Easy to assemble...great fit
Be careful when intially setting this up, as the side panels are attached to the fascia with the smallest of screws -- easy to strip out or simply pull out while trying to fit the compartment. My suggestion: Tighten down one side (don't overtighten!), then leave the other side loose. You'll also find that some single-DIN radios won't sit flush against the fascia with the compartment installed. You'll have to set the radio back...not ideal in some situations involving radios with a removable face.
Pros: -Fills the space
Cons: -Rather flimsy -Compartment is too large, some radios will not seat flush against the fascia
Great fit and quality, but the pocket will slide out of the slots if you move it at all side to sideal then you have to take it back apart to fix it. But looks great other than that
Pros: Looks great great fit
Cons: Can get loose
It fit, it works. Nothing more to say other than quick delivery and installed within minutes.
Seems the Pioneer DEH-X8600BH is a tad oversized for this kit. Had to trim the cubby on the top and man handle the head units metal bracket into place. You can see a little bit of the metal frame which I just ended up painting black. Looks very clean even though I had to cut it down to fit. Was only able to use two screws to secure the bracket back in the dash. Even with two screws missing the unit is very secure and doesn't move at all. Overall a good product.
The kit fit my 2013 wrx, but my new headunit, Pioneer DEH-X6700BS, did not fit. The new deck was a little too wide and tall. I had to trim off some of the sides and the top of the "pouch" thing (don't know what to call it). Even after I trimmed this the deck is pushing the sides of the kit outward and I can't put in all four screws. Overall if your new headunit fits I guess this is an okay product for being free with a new deck purchase.
Fast shipping. Good instructions and install kit was made perfect for my car.
This equipment is basic but works,at first it seems disappointing but meets the purpose, fits single or double dins with ease
Pros: Low price,durable,easy to install
Cons: Assembly required is divided on 3 parts
The install kit was great. Minimal gaps make this look great in my 2008 WRX.
Pros: Free with purchase!
Great product. Fits perfectly, make sure you have a mini screwdriver set to get 2 of the 4 screws connected, otherwise it gets rather difficult to put in
Got the right part exactly like I wanted and it was a easy install!
Pros: Right part, very easy to install
Cons: Nothing at all!
makes installing stereo a breeze. the only complaint is the two upper screws that hold the front on are behind the mount bracket and are hard to install, you need to put the front on FIRST as to slightly bend the plastic mounts to allow the screws to be inserted in the front. if you have an extra long shaft number one phillpips then it wouldn't be a problem.
Pros: works holds stereo nicely.
Cons: front plate hard to install without extra long shaft screwdriver or installing it first.
Kit fit perfectly in 09 forester. Along with a pioneer dbh head unit. Looks decent!
Pros: Perfect fit
Works well for any double din that doesn't fold down for DVD insertion. I had issues with mine coming into contact with the bottom lip that hangs under the stereo. I had to cut it very thin so its extreamly flimsy, but still works fine.
Cons: had to modify
Works and good for being free. Mine was a little warped but fine once in dash. Seems a little flimsy for heavy double din head units but no issues so far.
Pros: Free, works
Bought for 2012 wrx. U will only be able to use the left and right bracket. And leaves alot of death space... not a clean look
Pros: Better than nothing
Cons: The whole design
fit perfectly and holds properly.
Pros: fits well
Cons: kinda flimsy and heavily relies on the unit for bracing.
Good fit and easy.
Pros: Quick instillation, nice look.
Cons: I wish u could have used the factory metal mounts in conjunction with the kit.
Fit perfectly in my Subaru. No issues installing. Hold my new deck perfect.
Pros: Direct fit
I used this to install my KDC-X597 in my newly purchased 2008 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. It fits the stereo perfectly and looks great in the car as well. I don't have any complaints. Depending upon your stereo and car combination, you may not need to use the metal shroud is designed to fit around the main stereo head unit.
Pros: Easy install. Good fit. Looks great.
Cons: None. Pretty darn simple to do.
This had to have been the easiest installation ever. Thank you
Works Perfect in my 08 WRX
This bracket was so easy to put together and made the installation of the new unit a breeze. I have never had a self-install go so quick and easy. It looks like it was installed by professionals.
Pros: Made specifically for my 2011 Impreza. No adjustments needed and looks like a professional install. IT WAS FREE !! Came with my unit.
Cons: NONE !!!
The kit's frame fit exactly in the dash but pocket insert was fabricated incorrectly. It was too high to allow standard din Kenwood (without cage) to fit. Dremel tool and hour later, the head unit finally fit. Dont buy; get it free
Fits very well. Looks like it was supposed to be there from the factory.
Pros: Good fitment
Pros: Fits easy
Cons: Plastic vs stock metal.
Mounted with a JVC HU, fits well, but took forever to figure out due to the unclear nature of the instructions.
Pros: Fits well.
Cons: Plastic=weak. Instructions=not clear.
This dash install kit seems to be well made and fits nicely in the dash without a large gap around the vehicle dash. The texture and color of the kit goes well with the interior colors of my car. This dash kit does not seem to fit as well and it isn't as easy to assemble as the metra brand kits I have used in the past. That is the only reason for 4 stars. Overall this is a really nice product and had I not been used to metra I would consider this a 5 star product.
Pros: Relatively easy to install and looks pretty nice once installed.
Cons: Assembling the side plates to the front trim ring is somewhat difficult and the plastic seems a little softer than a metra brand dash kit. The gaps seem a little larger than on metra kits I have used in the past on different vehicles.
Great fit, good look. Would recommend
Work perfect even it was for 2010 and I upgrade my 2012
Pros: Perfect fit 2012 WRX
Fits cleanly and securely. However, does not use your HU's DIN sleeve, and does not use your HU's trim ring. The result is a think gap all around the HU's face panel.
Pros: Clean and secure fit
Cons: Unsightly gap around some double DIN head units.
Look up "cheap" and a photo of this product should be there! Very poor quality plastic. I would up using the factory mounting brackets off the OEM head. And the Kenwood trim ring fit better in the dash.
Pros: Think the plastic is recyclable.
Cons: Flexible plastic
Used this kit to install an Alpine S920HD in a 2012 WRX and it works great. The screws mounting the side brackets to the front were a little difficult to access but not a big deal. The kit was not sent with my order but a quick call to support had it sent out
Cons: Screws mounting the side brackets to the front were a little difficult to access
Easy to install and looks good. No fitting problems for me.
Pros: Easy to install and looks good.
Installed and went in smoothly. Could not ask for a better product.
Pros: predrilled and slotted. slightly flexible plastic. fit great.
This was a great install. Very easy. This dash kit was a perfect fit for the OEM dash of the '08 impreza. It looks likes the car rolled off the dealership lot with this stereo installed. There is no noise of the stereo shifting around while driving at any speed.
Pros: easy to install, great fit, factory look
Looks like it was from the factory. Fits perfect, the only improvement would be to the instruction sheet that came with it so that it wouldn't have taken me four tries to get it right.
Pros: Looks factory perfect.
Cons: Needs clearer instructions.
Looks great. Fits perfect.
Pros: Easy install. Looks great in dash.
This trim kit looks great in my 2013 Subaru wrx.
Pros: Perfect fit.
Cons: Screws for front trim piece were difficult to get to
At first I thought I wasn't going to like it based on how flimsy it kind of felt but once the aftermarket radio went in and with the use of a little tape (to tape down some plastic that was bending to the head unit), it was nice and sturdy and fit very well. Very easy to install and very nice looking.
Pros: Easy to install, comes with all parts, looks great
Cons: Some pieces are a little flimsy, but nothing a little tape can't fix
This is just the worst looking dash kit I have seen. It looks terrible.
Pros: Filling up landfills
Cons: Flimsy, scratches, doesn't fit well
Perfect except thereis a thin gap on top where if your not paying attention is where your CDswill wind up , on top of the head Unit.
Pros: Almost perfect fit
Cons: Should include a bumper for the thin gap on top.
It's been a while since I've done a car stereo install, but remembered how easy it was when I bought my last deck via Crutchfield over 15 years ago ... so when my daughter asked if I could help her with an new deck ... I remembered how Crutchfield had brackets and connectors to simplify the installation. The instructions are a key to how to get things opened up.
Pros: looks descent,good fit
Cons: cheaply made,hope it lasts
This adapter was not good. It does fit and hold my radio but that is the end of the good part. It is made from plastic that feels cheap and the texture does not match the rest of my dash. You have to use these tiny screws to put it together so make sure you have a very long and very thin Phillips head screw driver. Crutchfield sent me a dash adapter for a Legacy by mistake and it was 100 times better than this thing.
Pros: It fits in the dash and holds a radio
Cons: poor build quality and crappy finish
Fits perfect and looks great, the bin is actually useful too.
Pros: Fits good
Cons: Not as nice for double din stereos
Inorder to fit to the 2012 impreza cut the plastic tabs off and screw in the existing mounts from the stock radio then install. Very clean
Cons: Not an exact fit but can be made to work
Used to fit a Pioneer AVH-P3400BH, a double DIN unit, into a 2012 Subaru Forester.
Pros: Fits. Looks reasonable.
Cons: To fit a double din you have to cut out the center bar with a sharp knife. It would be better if the bar was made to detach in some way (e.g. snap-in / snap-out).
