Decent quality but it was free
Pros: Free with purchase
I wanted to replace the aftermarket head unit in my motorcycle fairing with a glovebox to place my iPod in but couldn't find anything that fit until I came across this. The installation was very simple and came with several parts to mount it. I kept the single DIN on and slid this inside and screwed the mounting brackets to it, very easy. It doesn't come with a cover so if you installing this on a motorcycle you'll have to buy a marine cover.
Pros: Versatile applications and easy to install
Cons: Wish it was big enough to hold my IPhone 6s
fit great, different face plates for a nice fit
Pros: easy install
Found product to be as advertised. Simple straight forward instructions that when followed gave clean looking completion to install.
Pros: Simple. Clear instructions. Nice add on.
Cons: No cons
Very basic, it fits the opening. I decided to improve it by bonding the shell halves together, putting thin foam insulation between the face plate and shell, and gluing thin felt in the interior. The foam insulation makes the mount to the dash opening tighter and prevents rattles. The felt in the interior trims it nicely, keeps any objects I put into it from rattling, and provides some damping of any vibration.
Pros: Fits the dash opening and easy to install. It was easy to upgrade as described in my review and now the unit has a much higher quality feel.
Cons: Snap together fit doesn't seem very positive.
It looks slightly cheap but mostly just does exactly what it is supposed to do. The 2 piece pocket made modifying it easy. The mounting matched up fairly well. If you are not so handy, it will be a slight puzzler.
Pros: Fits and does the job. Easy to modify.
Cons: The front plates are not exactly high end. They certainly work, though.
Not needed for my install
Pros: Not needed for my install
Excellent stereo, sounds great, Bluetooth works perfect!!! Kenwood really did a great job!!! Crutchfield did an excellent job getting it to me and the installation was a snap thanks to their install kit and instructions and great price!!!
Pros: Bluetooth, color changing face, and sound
Fit great, works great. Do not try to take apart as it will break tabs and not go back together.
Pros: easy install, fits great.
Cons: instructions are worthless. do not try to uninstall
worked very well made for an easy install.
Pros: nice fit, made install very easy
You guys have great products at great prices. ..and you above as and beyond in customer service
Pros: Fits great in my 2000 gt mustang
Very happy that I was able figure out how to make this work. I replaced the stock double din head unit in a 2000 Mercedes ML320 with a single din kenwood kdcx399 and needed this to fill in the space left over. There are two sets of brackets that come with this and I was able to add the ones without screw holes and push it into place. The unit snapped in and holds pretty well for not having any screws. I then pushed the din sleeve metal pieces into the top of the accessory box and it worked pretty well.
Pros: -Universal fit -Only a hmm gap on each side after completed install
Cons: Instructions are pretty bad..youre on your own with this kit for the most part
The stereo in my Bronco never worked so I removed it. I was looking for a blank-off plate or a pocket/cubby to fill the hole in my dash and came across this product. I wasn't sure if it would work with a 1976 Bronco but I figured if the stereo fit securely that this should fit similarly. I had to leave the stereo mounting sleeve (the thin sheet metal box with the tabs that you bend to secure it to the dash) for the product to fit securely. Took a bit of time to figure out the best way to install, but in the end it fits well and is secure.
Pros: Fits well and is secure.
Cons: Instructions are a little weak. It comes with two different sets of mounting brackets and a handful of bezels. Depending on your application you have to figure out what combination will work. You can't just install this product into a hole in your dash, you will need to have a mounting sleeve or something for it to fit into.
Very versatile and functional. I actually used it to install a new receiver on my boat. Many potential uses!
Perfect fit and exactly what I was looking for in my 2000 ford mustang.
Pros: Witch installation and looks great.
Cons: Could use a mat for the bottom of the DIN
Does its job
Pros: Does its job
Cons: Universal...had to add a foam to the back end so that it is leveled, otherwise the back end drops at an angle.
I used this in a 1991 Saab 900, in the lower single-DIN slot where the stock Clarion equalizer goes (I had a Pioneer 6-disc changer there that failed). Crutchfield's list does not include the Saab 900 for this part, so when I ordered it, the order automatically says "will not fit your car." Fortunately, it is "universal" enough: it fits, although the bezel left too much of the existing DIN sleeve exposed. I used the bezel from the old Pioneer unit and some black Sharpie ... and it does what it's supposed to and looks fine.
Bought this for my 2007 Honda Civic after installing an Alpine single DIN and it fits perfectly. There is a small gap on the edge but it's due to my aftermarket dash. This was exactly what I was looking for and was cheaper than other options. Thanks!
Pros: - Good Fit (Three trim pieces to ensure proper fit) - Cheap - Solid - Exactly what i needed
Cons: - A little difficult to get together. Some of the plastic pieces are extremely tight. But it works great once installed
I think this is an excellent product that makes use of otherwise wasted space. It makes the area look like it has a purpose instead of a missing option, like a plain blank plate.
Pros: Comes with more than one bezel for a variety of openings. Does the job and looks great.
Cons: The only problem is the system seems to be designed for only one thickness of the dash. If the dash is thin, it will be loose. You may have to make a shim gasket for a tight fit. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars.
Great trim kit for installing a single din head unit in my 1999 Chevy Suburban which has a 1.5 din. The installation was simple and looks like it was factory installed.
Pros: Looks Custom Ease of installation
fits a single din slot very well lots of options. great price
Pros: works prefect!
Fit perfectly in my 1999 mustang where I removed the lower CD player. Looks like factory installed. Added some carpet to the bottom for storage.
Pros: Great fit
This worked great in both of my 2000 mustangs. I put new stereos in and used the old bracket from the old stereo. It just snapped right into the bracket. Very easy. I had to modify the outside frame a little but was very easy. You just take a lighter and melt the four little plastic nubs on the sides and then cut off with a razor knife. Then I used some super strong adhesive and glued it on. Looks great!
Pros: Looks nice. Very inexpensive
Cons: Bracket required. Must be slightly modified.
For what it is it's nice to fill the open single DIN hole with something. It would be even better if it came with a bulkhead USB mount or a auxiliary cable input option with the unit.
Pros: No more hole in my dash.
As others have said, unit doesnt fit very well in Ford DIN holes. Needs a little filler behind front bezel to keep from rattling. Used a little felt glued around the edges to snug up the fit. Was forewarned by the Advisor about this fact. Bezel is rather ugly and doesnt fit with the aesthetic of the rest of the interior. But better than a hole in the dash. Will be looking for a OEM replacement.
Pros: * Better than a hole in the dash
Cons: * Bezel is rather ugly and doesnt fit with the aesthetic of the rest of the interior * Requires modification to work well with Ford DIN holes
The perfect face plates and mounting brackets/hardware for my car. Thumbs up!
Pros: Free and correct!
it wasnt universal for a 1992 chevy k1500 pickup. very disappoided listing was very misleading
Cons: it looks like it would been good for the cars it was ment for just not a chevy truck
I guess as far as kits go, it is as good as most. I wanted more instructions. Since I had used one before, I eventually figured it out.
Pros: Does work decent
Cons: More instructions would be nicer. Or better illustrations.
The box is OK, but the frames don`t fit to my car at all, so I don`t use them.
Cons: the frames don`t fit to my car
Looks good and fills the empty space up
Pros: Radio trim piece worked great
Cons: Pocket trim would not snap on because of my factory trim. Looked great with a little weather strip glue.
I installed a new stereo and also installed this DIN pocket replacement, in place of the factory CD player. It wasn't a perfect fit, but another reviewer on here recommended using a silicone sealant, which worked like a charm. They recommended black silicone, but I used clear and it is still a nice professional look.
Pros: Does exactly what it's supposed to do.
Cons: Not a perfect fit, but silicone sealant makes it work.
Our 2000 Mustang has a separate receiver and cd deck installed from the factory. We put in a new Kenwood Stereo from Crutchfield and it fit great. But, where the cd deck was removed it left a hole where you could see into the dash and view the wires. This universal DIN pocket was the perfect answer. It covers the hole nicely plus allows a great place to put your Ipod while hooked up to the reciever. The fit was pretty good, just a little loose. We slid some thin gasket material, with a little black silicone smeared on, and placed them on the top and bottom of the pocket. This allowed the fit to be tight with no rattles.
Pros: The handy tray looks great and nicely took care of the hole left where the CD deck was removed. No modifications required to fit.
Cons: Instructions and pictures where rather vague but could figure it out. The fit was a little loose but not too bad considering it is a universal pocket.
very easy and good quality...save me for having pay for someone to install it...looks great and best of all came free with the bundle i purchase that time
I was able to creatively make the pieces work for me - certainly didn't work straight out of the box. I had to drill holes through the plastic and really use a lot of imagination to see how and then to make it work. I was a complete newbie to this, so it took a few hours of study but in the end, it doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it would.
Purchased to fill in the space in a Chevy Prism that originally had a stock 2DIN size radio when I replaced with a 1DIN size Sony unit. It fit without having to drill or adjust anything! And I was expecting to have to do some serious modifications to get it in - so I was very pleased.
great storage spot as a replacement for electronics.
The description is a little confusing. I ordered this for a custom application where there is no aftermarket radio adapter (88 Buick Reatta). I ordered this kit because I thought it was a universal DIN radio mounting pocket but it's not. It's a pocket that takes up the extra space in a dash that had an original radio that is bigger than a DIN. It is way too small to put a DIN radio in to. When I opened the package and looked at the instructions, I found that it is not even universal, it is made for specific applications. I still may be able to use it to take up some extra space under the radio, but I will still have to find something to hold the radio in the dash. It was cheap enough to take the chance to see if it would work, but i wouldn't have even ordered it if I had known, or if the sales rep. had told me what it was.
This worked good in my 2k Mustang. The pocket is made of top and bottom sections which can separate. This makes it easy to add ipod / aux wires which lead from your head unit. Since you can drill a hole where the two pieces meet, then pull the wire through before assembly, it's easy to create a hole that your connector can't slip back through when installed. Put the front of the box on first, then install the side rails. This eluded me for a bit. My box fit well, but didn't fit tightly. It rattled a bit until I shimmed it with some cardboard.
Product came with several different applications, we were able to adapt it to our Hyudai Sonata. The installation went smoothly and we are well pleased with the end result.
Bought this pocket to fill a DIN opening left behind in my dash when I replaced the factory stereo. The instructions were nearly useless and I had to use a hammer to "convince" the pocket's brackets to slide all the way on. But it works and looks fine now that I've got it together and installed.
Crutchfield is always good with service and support....That being said, I installed this into a 99 Lexus I30 and there is not fact sheet. Please be sure to advise this with this people who have a Lexus....but customer support did email a hand written fact sheet.
for some reason it was a little confusing at first, but it works perfectly and looks good. very reasonable price also.
bought this for my girlfriends car, used the mastersheet which told me to use a different faceplate on the pocket than what i did use, no big deal as it came with it, just needs to be noted

The Uniden 980 CB SSB radio will be mounted in the custom dash of our 68 Bronco. The radio is 7.25" x 2.25" so the dash kit will require modification but it gives me the components to make it work. [ Keith Feb 28, 2016 ]

I do not have the exact dimensions of the pocket but it is made to fill a single DIN space. Single DIN spaces are 2" tall x 7" wide. The pocket is slightly smaller than this as it narrows from the opening. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan Apr 27, 2016 ] Staff
