Q
What is the bare wire diameter of 1/0 gauge without outer sheathing? Is the 0.625" with sheathing?

A
Yes the .625" is the sheathing diameter. Bare wire directly where it exits the sheathing measured about .388" on the piece I measured. With that said, about a half inch past the sheathing, it measured about .525". The individual strands are tinned, there's a bunch of information for that on the web, but the important bit is that it tends to "fluff" out. If you check the AWG wire diameter table on Wikipedia this wire actually falls between double ought and triple out wire diameters. I had difficulty soldering it in the standard 1/0 connector and have been thinking about redoing it with a 2/0 connector. I hope that helps.

the inner wire is 1/2" so with the sheathing yes I'm sure its .625"

Q
Why is the black ground wire tinned but the red power wire does not appear to be tinned?

Becuz of the jacket of the wire. I asked them this before and they said with time the copper caused the jacket to change color so they tinned it. Still the same great ofc copper
