These headphones are surprisingly lightweight. Sound quality is awesome. There is a protected cord but the wrap isn't 100 percent foolproof. After a few years of use, part of the cord came out from its protective sheath. The plug wire is split into two sections, one is a little short from the headphones itself and connects to a longer one. The ear cushions are very soft and comfortable and don't give you ear pain after long periods of wearing them. Overall for the price and sound quality compared to other more expensive models these are a solid buy. Try these on any Beats Audio device and you should enjoy what Beats offers through these headphones. After a few years they are still putting out awesome music and letting me hear the drums and cymbals I otherwise wouldn't hear on lesser known and even more expensive brands.

Pros: Lightweight, Value is Excellent, well known audio brand. Durable for the long term.

Cons: Cord protective covering is not 100 percent foolproof, but they keep you from destroying the wires compared to other expensive models with no wire covering at all.

These headphones are great. I have tried many different makes and models, and within my price range these are by far the best. They are lightweight, comfortable, and can be worn for long periods of time. The sound quality is great, with good base. I do wish the cord was a bit thicker, but it's not so thin that it is a concern. I like the white color, which is actually a very light grey - a nice change from the usual black. Overall, I would absolutely buy these again!

The Bose are not at all bad but they are at the low end of their offerings. Bose makes some of the best noise cancellation headphones but personally that's about it. I had this brand and found them a little weak in construction. Bose does some unique things, that are pretty good, that said I would only use their noise reduction phones on planes etc, for movies and such. Bose, does not make a strictly music listening headphone, and that is OK, they do some other things well.

Pros: Good to travel with, easy to listen to through most devices, look good

Cons: Price, weak construction, many more headphones at that price range that will blow them out of the stratosphere.

These are very comfortable headphones. I can even use them without removing my hearing aids. The sound is full and clear (my most important need in a headset). There is sufficient base and very good balance. They remain comfortable after well over an hour of constant use. Highly recommended.

Pros: Clarity and comfort

Everything sounded so much better. These headphones are also light in weight and very comfortable to wear for hours at a time. I would not hesitate to recommend the Bose AE2 - a Big Bang for the dollar.

These headphones are comfortable, light weight, and while not noise cancelling, do provide good isolation while still keeping you connected with your surroundings. Personally, I much prefer the "over the ear" design rather than the "on ear" design.. I was also pleased that this model is available without the "in cord controls". The sound quality is very good - very open and expanded and works great with my I-Pod Classic. The single side cord helps prevent tangles and while it is detachable, it is a little "flimsy" and is proprietary so cannot be replaced with a generic cable. The white model looks great (more of a light gray color.) I wasted a lot of time researching quality headphones for my I-Pod and finally decided on the AE-2. Are there "better" headphones out there? Yes, probably but most of us will never hear the difference. Are there "better" value products available? Yes, Bose products are a little pricy. There are probably cheaper headphones out there that are just as "good" as the Bose AE2, but my advice is do yourself a favor - get the AE2 - you won't regret spending the extra money.

Pros: Sound quality Comfort

Cons: For the price, Bose should include a quality carrying case instead of a cloth bag. Engineered in USA - made in China

I have tried many different brands of the Around-Ear headphones and I should have stayed with Bose. The Klipsch headphones are great but are very bass heavy with mid level treble and mid-ranges and are very tight on your head. The Bower-Wilkerson headphones sound okay and the comfort level is acceptable. Dont waste your money on Beats headphones. Your basically paying for a rappers name and Monster Cables wire. On to Bose... These are by far the most comfortable headphones Ive owned in quite some time. I had an older pair of noise-canceling headphones but after many years of traveling and abuse, the cord going into the headphones started to come apart and frayed. I think this is a typical problem for headphones unless like the Klipsch, they have a thick cloth material around them. This pair does have some sound deadening but by no means compared the the noise-canceling. I have had these for almost a month and out of the box the sound was great. Im near 20hrs of use and cant tell much of a difference since they day I first used them. In conclusion, this is a great product. My only complaint if any, is that the cord needs to be a little thicker for duration and that it would come with the old style hard case instead of a little cloth bag. The design could be updated a little but like they say, "if it aint broke, dont fix it." They are very functional.

Pros: Comfort and Sound Quality

Cons: The cord needs to be thicker, could use slight design upgrade

I find this product provides what I need in sound quality and noise deadening.

Pros: Use of this item on air travel work fine. Even though it is not a sound canceling unit, the isolation of noise due to it's construction provides the same effect. And where the soft carry bag as opposed to a hard case allows me to store it in my caryon luggage easier.

The headphones are everything I wanted in headphones. Excellent sound quality, light and comfortable. My only complaint is that they should have come with a 1/4" plug or an adaptor. I had to buy an adaptor in order to use them with my Sony receiver. An alternative would have been to include a second cord, as the one included is detachable from the headphones.

Except for that, I am very pleased. The sound, comfort and quality are up to the high standards that Bose sets.

Love the sound but the bass isn't the same as my last pair I bought 5 years ago... Seems the shells are shaped differently and its just a bit softer now. But these are still awesome!

Pros: comfort, portability, sound !!! still get a bit of the outside noise but its negligible.

Cons: bass seems different and a bit attenuated....

Bose AE2 wins the comfort war.

Written By Monti, Chesapeake, VA on Tuesday, June 21, 2011

I purchased these from Crutchfield after I sold my Sennheiser 280HD Pros. The Sennheisers were just not comfortable and although the headphones were fairly light the coiled cord was very heavy. I've tried on Bose headphones in other stores and was always impressed by their "comfort". Sound quality is meaningless if they hurt when you wear them. So I decided on the AE2s. I have noise-cancelling Audio Technica earbuds for travel so I use these at home. In a nutshell the lightness and comfort are superb. These produce pleasing sound across the spectrum of music I listen to which is mostly 70s and 80s. The cord is straight, light, and user replaceable. The case supplied is a plastic bag and is a joke. I put them in a hard case to protect them. 4/5 stars. Would have given them a 5 if they supplied a decent case. At Bose prices, it's the least they could do.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was concerned about the in-the-ear ear buds my children wore constantly
with their IPODs. When our Junior in high school developed tinnitus, I ordered
these for him and his younger brother. The tinnitus is decreasing, and may be
related to seasonal allergies, but the doctor said that over-the-ear headphones
were safer for hearing life. Our son envisions a career in music production
(behind the scenes) and/or composition. His hearing is very important to us.
The sound quality is what my boys love about these headphones. The BOSE
name gets respect from their peers, as well!

Bose AE2

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A rival speaker rep once told me "Bose blows" and he didn't mean this in a nice
way. Since then I've been skeptical of Bose products. When I wanted new
headphones though I chose these AE2, and I'm glad I did. They deliver great
sound with good bass. Not active noise cancellation, but that means I don't need
to worry about batteries. It does keep a lot of background noise to a minimum
though. It is really light weight and fits comfortably around my ears. I don't
like the on ear feel of other sets. My one negative is that I comes with a plain
nylon sack for storage. I ended up buying a case for the Quiet Comfort 15 for
$25 + tax; and though it doesn't fit perfectly, it does work to protect these
headphones. Also Crutchfield service is awesome and I received these in just 2
days from order.

I really like these headphones

Written By neurodoc, Seattle, WA on Sunday, December 12, 2010

I hesitate to review headphones anymore since enjoyment of them is particularly subjective.
Fortunately, you can bring your own player to a Bose store and listen to your own music
and decide for yourself. I listen mostly to instrumental classical music and jazz. These are
easily my favorite headphones and I own Grado, Sennheiser, and Sony monitor. There is
amazing detail and clarity. The bass is strong but well defined and tight. The sound seems
well balanced across the frequency range. These headphones are remarkably light and
comfortable for extended periods. Also, the cord doesn't twist up on itself like the Grados
and isn't coiled and heavy like the Sonys. Singers sound very natural but just slightly quieter
than you might expect. However, a small increase in listening volume corrected the problem.

the one I purchased did not have an airline adapter [ BRUCE  Jan 27, 2014 ]
No adapter was needed on the United flights that we had. BUT I have collected adapters from the past and yes, they should work. The best thing about these headphones is that they go OVER the full ear, so they do not hurt after wearing them for an 8 hour flight and they fold in easily. We had a hard sided case to keep 2 pairs of them together in our carry-on backpack. It was a Logistix (I think) case that I had purchased for the car gps. Enjoy! [ JOYCE  Jan 27, 2014 ]
It does not come with airplane adaptor but I just flew with JetBlue and it accepts regular headphone jacks. [ RONALD G  Jan 27, 2014 ]
no it does not come with an airline adapter you would have to look into buying an adapter, and anyway mist airlines you can plug any headphone into the seat without an adapter [ marc  Jan 26, 2014 ]
