Bose® Acoustimass® 10 Series III Reviews
Average Customer Review:
High on crisp, medium on thunder ~
I've had this system for about 18 months now in a large family room powered by a 100WPC Yamaha receiver. The "aimable" split cubes are great and the crispness and transparaency of these little bi-cubes is almost stunning. The subwoofer is certainly adequate but does not deliver the room-shaking power that the 15-inch, 200-watt sub I have in a media room system or the 12", 120 watt KLH sub in the study do. This is not surprising given the realities of physics and woofer size. I chose this system because it was minimally intrusive visually in an area where my bride did not want big honking speakers and was guaranteed to produce pleasing sound. And I'd chose it again for such an application. Just be realistic on your expectations at the bottom end and you'll be very pleased indeed.
Great!!! i Love my Bose acousticmass 10
i bought these speakers a month ago i love them!!!!
bought a yamaha receiver htr-5860 it has a mic that adjust the speakers to your room size!! i dont even have to to turn it up that loud, and i like it loud!!!
good buy for the money, but you need a good receiver.
i like this better than my dads $2500 set up. listen to the bose lifestyle setup. if you like that sound, with this receiver you will get the same sound. i swear!! i even used the same dvd demos that bose used in that setup, no difference at all!!
Good But not Great
When I first hooked them on to my Yamaha 5450. I thought that the sound was great, but I was turned the volume up. I notice that the speakers started to break up at the half way mark. With the receiver at full volume, it shuts off. However, with the volume half way, it is loud. I had to turn the bass down on the woofer. For best sound quality, I suggest that the speakers are hooked on the ceiling or walls. For movies, it will blow you way. Watch Gladiator on this and you will feel like its a real theater. I just wish these speakers could take my receiver's full volume power without breaking down and shutting off. The price is a little bit to much. With the 0% for 6 or 12 its not so bad, but not great. If I had to buy it again, likely I would chose another brand. Ohh by the way the Bose 48,38 & 28 Series is a highway robbery, I bought 38 & 48. I kept them for 2 weeks each and retuned them. I got a Yamaha receiver and I am fully satisfied. The Bose receivers did not provide nearly the amount of sound that it does when you are at Best Buy. I am sure that their system is hooked up to something and thus it gives a better sound. Inside of my basement it did not come nearly as good as it does now. Dont buy it thinking that you will get a thumping system. Get a Yamaha or Onkio and you will be better off. Ohh yeah it did not work it my Sony TV either. Good luck and shop smart.

Virtually Invisible Speaker System Design: The Virtually Invisible speaker system design gives you expansive sound without dominating your décor. The Acoustimass module delivers deep, powerful bass without audible port noise, so it can be hidden almost anywhere in the listening area. The music and sound effects seem to come from the tiny cube speaker arrays.
Next-generation Powered Acoustimass Module: The newly engineered Acoustimass module uses a proprietary acoustic enclosure and patented technologies to produce deeper, richer and louder bass than the previous generation.
Direct/Reflecting Speaker Technology: The Direct/Reflecting speaker technology helps the compact cube speaker arrays deliver more open, spacious sound throughout the listening area. You hear enhanced surround sound and exceptionally lifelike stereo with a larger soundstage.
Integrated Signal Processing: The Bose patented integrated signal processing compensates for the human ear's reduced sensitivity to bass at low volumes. You hear the proper balance of deep bass, even at very low, late-night listening levels and dialogue continues to sound natural.
Automatic System Protection Circuitry: When played at high volume, this system's automatic protection circuitry activates to prevent damage to the system from electrical stress or overload. When this happens, you may notice a slight decrease in volume, which is normal.
Drivers: The powered Acoustimass module uses two 5-1/4" high-excursion paper cone woofers, each with a foam surround. Each cube speaker array features dual 2-1/2" wide-range Twiddlers. The top and bottom sections of the cube speaker arrays can be rotated to create room-filling sound patterns.
Cube Speaker Mounting: Each cube speaker array has a rear-mounted 5mm female threaded insert. The threaded inserts allow you to mount the cube speaker arrays using optional stands or wall-mount brackets.
Left Side of Acoustimass Module:
- LFE: the LFE level control increases or decreases the relative level of low-frequency effects on movie soundtracks
- Bass: allows you to increase or decrease the bass level of the Acoustimass module
Bottom of Acoustimass Module:
- Audio Input: 15-pin male jack for use with supplied system input cable. The other end of the system input cable has tinned wire that connects to the left front, right front, center, left rear and right rear speaker outputs and a mono male RCA plug that connects to the subwoofer output of the A/V receiver or amplifier.
- Audio Output: 5 RCA jacks (Left Front, Right Front, Center Front, Left Rear and Right Rear); using the supplied speaker cables, these jacks connect to the cube speaker arrays
- Power: jack for use with supplied AC power cord
- Connectivity: compatible with A/V receivers and amplifiers rated from 10 to 200 watts per channel, rated from 4 to 8 ohms
- Powered Acoustimass Module: W=8.234", H=16.3125", D=25.375"
- Cube Speaker Arrays: W=3.065", H=6.184", D=4.079"
Warranty Note: The drivers have a 5-year parts and labor warranty, and the electronics have a 1-year parts and labor warranty.
