System Features

1.1 Speaker System: The CineMate 1 SR Home Theater Speaker System offers spacious home theater sound from a sleek soundbar speaker and wireless Acoustimass module. The CineMate 1 SR connects directly to your flat-panel HDTV, with no additional AV receiver required. The CineMate 1 SR system's sound can be customized to your room size, shape, and furnishings. Exclusive Bose innovations enable wide, spacious sound that extends well beyond the soundbar speaker's physical size. And the wireless Acoustimass module adds emphatic low-notes to your movies, music, and games; while it is neatly tucked away from view. The CineMate 1 SR Home Theater Speaker System is all controlled with a simplified universal IR remote.

Soundbar Speaker Array: The soundbar speaker uses a Speaker Array design and PhaseGuide sound radiators, along with TrueSpace technology to direct sound with precision, sending acoustic detail to the left, right and center of your room.

  • Speaker Array Design: The soundbar speaker array features five identical transducers with powerful neodymium magnets.
  • PhaseGuide Sound Radiators: The soundbar speaker also employs two PhaseGuide sound radiators to deliver room-filling sound.
  • TrueSpace Technology: Proprietary TrueSpace digital processing circuitry delivers a spacious, multichannel sound experience with strong left, right and center imaging from a single soundbar speaker.

Wireless Acoustimass Module: The wireless Acoustimass module produces deep low notes for added home theater realism. The wireless link allows for flexible placement and does away with any speaker cables from the module to the soundbar. The wireless Acoustimass module adds dramatic low notes to your entertainment, without the addition of more cables. The soundbar speaker and Acoustimass module are paired at the factory.

Note: To avoid wireless interference, keep other wireless equipment, such as wireless computer network routers, cordless phones, microwave ovens, or other WiFi-enabled audio/video devices away from the soundbar speaker and Acoustimass module.

Bose ADAPTiQ Audio Calibration System: The soundbar speaker's performance is customized to the acoustics of your room with the Bose ADAPTiQ audio calibration system. ADAPTiQ audio calibration system analyzes the way your room's dimensions and other variables affect sound, then automatically adjusts the sound of your speaker system to the acoustics of your room. To perform a calibration you need about 10 minutes when the room is quiet. While wearing the special headset, the system will ask you to place yourself in five different locations (sitting or standing) in your listening area as the system takes measurements in each. Audio prompts from the system will guide you through the process.

Dolby Digital/DTS: The Bose CineMate 1 SR features optical and coaxial digital inputs, while providing digital 5.1ch decoding for improved realism from 5.1ch-encoded Blu-rays, DVDs, DBS, or HDTV.

Controls

Remote Control: The CineMate 1 SR system includes a universal remote that can be programmed to control your TV, DVD or Blu-ray Disc player, cable/satellite box, and VCR. With this universal remote, you can enjoy the convenience of using only one remote control for all your home theater equipment.

  • Source Control: You can easily switch control from one source to another by pressing the appropriate source button at the top of the remote. In addition to controlling the selected source, the remote will always control the basic speaker functions (on/off, volume, mute) of the CineMate 1 SR system.
  • Navigating On-Screen Menus: The menu and program selection buttons will control only one source at a time. Select the source you want to use first.
  • Playback Controls: The functionality of the source playback buttons may vary depending on the type and brand of your device. The remote offers Play, Pause, Top, Fast Forward/Rewind, Next/Previous, numeric keypad controls.

Bass Control Knob: The bass control knob located on the rear-panel of the Acoustimass module allows you to change the bass level output of the system. Turn the bass control knob clockwise to increase the bass or counter-clockwise to decrease the bass.

Connections

Audio Connections: The CineMate 1 SR digital home theater speaker system takes the place of your TV's built-in speakers. This is done by connecting your TV's audio output to the TV audio input (TV Input) on the CineMate system. In addition to the connection from the TV, you can also connect up to two of your audio/video devices (sources) directly to the CineMate system's auxiliary inputs to assure the best possible sound quality from these sources (the aux inputs are designed to provide a second signal path for a source already connected to the TV, not as an input for additional sources). The soundbar speaker is equipped with bottom-panel analog and digital audio inputs for TV and Auxiliary.

  • TV Input: The soundbar is fitted with one analog stereo RCA input, one optical digital audio input, and one coaxial digital audio input to connect to a wide variety of televisions.
  • Auxiliary Inputs: The soundbar is also fitted with one optical digital audio input and one coaxial digital audio input to connect two digital audio sources (Blu-ray/DVD player, Cable/Sat box) for optimum sound quality. These Aux inputs provide a direct audio signal from your AV source to the soundbar.
Note: While a source is playing the CineMate 1 SR system will continuously compare the AUX input audio stream with the TV Input audio stream and automatically select the highest-quality audio stream available. To enjoy the full benefit of hearing TV audio through the CineMate 1 SR system, the internal speakers in your TV should be turned off.

SmartSource Input Selection: The SmartSource input selection system automatically monitors the speaker's TV and Auxiliary inputs. As you switch sources, the system retrieves the best audio signal available. What you see and what you hear is always in sync.

Cable Management: There are cable clips on the bottom-panel of the soundbar speaker to neatly organize the system's audio cables.

AC Power: Because the soundbar speaker and wireless Acoustimass module are self-powered, each requires a separate AC power connection.

Mounting Options

Flexmount Technology: Proprietary Flexmount technology ensures optimal performance wherever the soundbar is positioned. The soundbar speaker can be mounted to a wall (using the optional WB-135 bracket, sold separately); or placed flat on a table. Flexmount technology detects the soundbar speaker's orientation and ensures optimal audio output however you position the speaker. To raise the soundbar speaker and allow more space under it, you can install the included extension feet.

Note: The CineMate 1 SR system uses the reflective surfaces of your room to deliver wide, spacious sound. For best sound quality, the speaker array should not be placed inside a cabinet, or diagonally in a corner.

Acoustimass Module Placement: When placing the Acoustimass module on bare floors, or other smooth surfaces, attach the included rubber feet to the bottom of the module for greater stability and to protect your floor. For best sound quality, place the Acoustimass module on its feet along the same wall as your TV, or along any other wall in the front third of the room. The front opening of the module can face any direction.

Q
I have an iPhone 5c .would I be able to listen to music from my iPhone and if so how?

Dear Jose M: I do not have an iPhone so I can not answer your question - however I highly recomend the Bose - the setup process alone lets you know you have purchased a system better than all the rest - it has head phones that you wear and you sit where your listeners will sit and it directs the best sound right to them - just make sure your Blu-Ray player and TV have optical digital cable sound outputs and you will be set. I hope you purchase this system - you will be very happy.

I am sorry but I do not have an iphone so am unable to respond. However I can offer this advice; I would purchase the new Bose Cinemate 350 as it comes with a central control box and cost the same as the Cinamate 1. Good luck.

No, it is not boothtooth.

Q
Our TV is mounted in the corner of a room using a full range wall mount. Is it possible to attach this Bose soundbar to the TV itself (instead of the wall) so the sound can come from the corner of the room and directed to the center of the room? (Instead of it being mounted on the wall and the sound just hitting our fireplace).

I have mine sitting on an entertainment table in the corner, so I would think you should be able to mount it across the corner with the proper bracketing. I would also assume the sound bar may even be able to adjust for how it sits depending on where you sit with the remote to configure the sound.
jeff  Jun 29, 2014
A
Yes, make certain you use the remote to get surround sound from each corner of the room

hello becky, no. but have u considered building a diagonal shelf under your tv not sure how large your tv is-- ours is 65"--we have 3 shelves built-in under our tv hope this helps mary
mary  Jun 29, 2014
A
Yes i attached mine to the tv mount using 2 flat stock pieces and drilled 4 holes in the flat stock and it hangs under the TV
james  Jun 29, 2014
A
I think the closest you can come to positioning the sound bar on the TV is to position it directly below it on the wall. The ADAPTIQ calibration device, which is included, should customize the sound of the system to the acoustics of the listening area. You would also need to purchase the WB-135 Wall Mount kit from Bose.
wendy  Jun 29, 2014
A
Quite a unique question. I do not know of any hardware that would allow you to attach the Sound Bar directly to a TV. The weight of the Sound Bar would have to be supported entirely by the TV. If you were able to locate this special hardware the next question is probably the most important, does the manufacturer of your TV allow this type of attachment to its TV? Caution, careful with unapproved ways to accomplish the impossible. Special Note. The manufacturer of the CineMate recommends that the wireless Sub Woofer be mounted on the floor as far to the left or right side of the speakers. How will that advice fit your unique installation? Good Luck

Not very easily. I built a wood frame to attach the Bose wall mount to the TV mount. It is very sturdy, does not show from the front, and is very functional. Overall I am pleased with the install and the sound system.

Q
I have a Acoustimas series 15 6.1 speaker system running off of surround receiver. I am considering the CineMate sound bar to use for regular TV viewing but would like to use my existing Bose setup for heavy duty movie surround fun. Would I be able to use the CineMate bar as a center channel with my setup ?
timothy  May 26, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Bose CineMate 1 SR digital home theater speaker system cannot be used as strictly a center channel. It is designed to take the place of a surround sound system, and uses technology to deliver a multichannel sound experience from just a single speaker If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

I'm wondering how good the sound of people talking is? I have a slight hearing deficit and I want to make sure that this speaker will help me hear what people are saying a lot better than a stock speaker.

While I have no source for comparison, since I've had no other extraneous speakers, I am pleased with the sound enhancement. I have always been able to hear dialog very well, even with older movies.

Jay, It does help somewhat. For voice, it is best to turn down the woofer. Tom

Q
Is it possible to wall mount and recess the speaker into the wall, since my TV is also recessed into the wall? Or will this interfere with sound quality?

A
i would say NO, because sound in projected out onto walls etc, being inserted i don't know how they would respond, my recommendation would be to go to Sony com, get their "chat" line and ask, they are usually very helpful ... sorry i couldn't provide more definitive answers ..... good luck
richard  Jan 23, 2014
A
Joey--I believe it is possible to wall-mount the speaker. It is meant to be fairly unobtrusive, giving the consumer the choice of having it lay flat in front of the TV (as I have it) or to mount it on a wall below the TV. I do not believe there would be any sound interference. It comes with a calibrator designed to give you the best sound in the available space.
wendy  Jan 23, 2014
A
Bose is the best place to obtain an answer to a question of this nature. A non professional and personal answer would be that the woofer cannot be mounted that way. The combined speakers unit if set to far in may effect how the sound is transmitted to the sides of a room. The main reason I like the Bose unit is that when compared with other bar units it had the best sound to the right and left side. Good luck
roger  Jan 22, 2014
A
Hi, You should not recess the sound-bar in the wall. Mount it on the wall or place it down on top of the TV stand.
wayne  Jan 22, 2014
Q
can the sound bar be mounted to the TV?
gdhirsch  Dec 03, 2013

There is an optional bracket that will allow you to wall mount this system. The Bose® WB-135 is designed to work with wall mount applications of TVs.

Q
What is the auxiliary coaxial cable input used for? I was trying to hook my cellular telephone earpiece hole into the Bose Cinemate auxiliary coaxial input in an attempt to play Sirius radio through my Bose Soundbar. Is this possible?
keith  Nov 27, 2013
1 answer
A
The auxiliary inputs on this unit are both digital, and would not allow connection from your telephone. However, you could use the headphone out on your phone, and connect to the analog (red and white) inputs assigned to the TV (if they are not in use by the TV). You would need a mini to RCA adapter like the Arista Stereo Mini-to-RCA Adapter.
