Today's TVs offer a vibrant, detailed picture, but if you're relying on your television's built-in speakers, you're missing a big part of the experience. The innovative Bose® CineMate® Series II digital home theater speaker system dishes out spacious, detailed sound using just two compact speakers and an Acoustimass® module. It connects directly to your TV via a single cable, and with no rear speakers, there's no need to run wire all the way across your room.
Enjoy rich, robust sound that puts you right in the middle of your favorite movies, TV shows, and video games. Powered home theater systems come with speakers and a subwoofer plus the amplification to drive them. Many of these systems feature low-profile consoles and ultra-compact speakers for minimal visual clutter. Some include a built-in Blu-ray/DVD player for enjoying movie and concert discs.
Product was east to set up and del;ivewred great sound, surprisingly lifelike surround sound which was not expected due to the set-up.
Pros: Rich deep bass and crisp clear highs all of which made for Theater-quality sound
Cons: Inability to add additional speakers or other components per the manufacturer.
I was amazed at the sound quality of this system. I have a small place and was not wanting a complete surround sound system. The Cinemate offers excellent stereo with a broad spectrum of frequencies. Excellent bass response. This is a great system for small rooms.
Pros: Great sound and easy setup.
I purchased this after listening to displays from two stores. The demo they have in stores are really amazing and it does almost sound like you have rear speakers, but keep in mind that you are standing just a foot or two away from the speakers. Once I received this product and have it running in my living room, I did not get the same affect as I did in the store demo, but I am now sitting 12 to 15 feet away from the speakers. I can hear a good left and right separation and it does sound full, but the sound of a rear speaker is now very little to almost none. The next couple of things I found, since I connected this directly via optical to my blu-ray player, is that it did not play anything that was coded with DTS. I had to set my DTS output from the blu-ray to Downmix PCM in order to play any blu-ray or DVD that has DTS encoding. The highest sound quality it will play directly from the blu-ray is Dolby Digital 5.1. I also had to go from 96kHz/24bit to 48kHz/16bit on the PCM output signal. If you had a 5.1 surround speakers before and want to replace them with these, then I would recommend not, specially if you want the sound from the rear speakers. Now, if you want to upgrade a TV sound and have surround like affect with very minimal speakers and setup, then this is a good choice. I did call BOSE tech support and they confirmed that this system will not play any DTS encoded sound. I exchanged this product for the BOSE Acoustimass® 10 speaker system.
Pros: It's a good TV speaker upgrade
Cons: It does not play DTS encoded sounds
Typical Bose product, great design and very good sound! Simple directions and very easy to set up, maybe 10 minutes tops.
I was looking for a system that was very compact and not too expensive. For the price and size of the system, it has very good sound quality. It seems that the sound quality is actually better when viewing movies that have impressive sound tracks (Star Wars type stuff) than when just listening to music. Overall I am quite pleased with this product.
Pros: Compact system. Good sound quality.
Bose system, a great product. Simple to hook up with a great sound.
Bose has done it again!
Looked at and listened to at my local store. Compact with a fantastic sound. I don`t have room for a bunch of speakers.. The sound is awesome when looking at movies and anythimg that has bass. Regular talk programs not much difference than TV speakers at low volume. It`s what I wanted for my situation.
Pros: Compact with a great sound.
While working on a mini-home theater setup for the rec. room, I wanted a sound system that didn't take up a lot of space and wouldn't require a receiver. After a lot of research, I ended up with Bose Cinemate II system. Setup was a breeze and you're literally up and running in about 10 minutes.
This tiny setup packs a powerful punch and are far superior to the dinky TV speakers. I hear a lot of ambient sound I've never heard before through the TV speakers and the enhanced sound effects definitely makes you feel like you're immersed in the environment of the TV display. The Acoustimass base module isn't overpowering and complements the 2 array speakers perfectly. There's also a volume adjustment in the back of the module so you can adjust the base settings to your taste level.
I have a few minor quibbles. The dialogue levels seems to be a notch or two lower than where it should be. I'm not sure if this was addressed in the Bose GS II system but there seems to be variances in the sound output between the dialogue and other sound effects or music. Also, I wish there was a numerical volume indicator on the interface module. The module turns on with a green light and flashes every time you raise or lower the volume but that's about it in terms of visual features. These few quibbles are why I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
The Bose Cinemate II is an awesome no frills mini-system that will immerse you in the environment of what you're watching.
Pros: Powerful immersive mini speaker system that's awesome for smaller home theater setups. Super fast setup.
Cons: Dialogue levels seem to be a notch or two lower than music and sound effects. Features on interface module could be improved.
Great sound without running wires all over the room. To all those people complaining about lacking bass, try reading the Owner's manual-I know it's a scary thought-but you'll learn something about this product. It's not for huge rooms, it gives virtual surround affects-not true surround sound, & last but not least-you can increase the bass with the knob on the back of the bass module. Many folks condemn something they don't know how to use because they simply try to "wing it" without reading the manual.
Pros: Quality. Great sound without taking up a lot of space in a smaller room.
Cons: Price, but Bose was never cheap anyway-you get what you pay for.
It does a very fine job for a system that takes little space. The remote is well-designed, too.
Pros: Very good sound. Easy to use remote. Easy set up. Compact.
Cons: Remote only has basic functions. Sound will never match a real surround-sound system.
The Bose CineMate Series ll system works GREAT!! It was very easy to install and hook up. The Bose system really makes watching my 50" panasonic plasma TV very enjoyable. Thank you Crutchfield.
With Bose you get the quality and design that you come to expect. However this system was a little disappointing. Now, what needs to be said is that I have put the system on my brand new Samsung 46" LED-TV (also from Crutchfield) that is located in a very spacious living room. So, the flaw might actually be in the size and scope of the hardwood floors and high ceilings that carry the sound.
With that being said, setting up was a cinch. So glad that I finally go to use an optical cable on a system. The setup DVD was actually very helpful for fine tuning. Rubber feet for the speakers were a definite plus, as well.
The sound... (keeping in mind the above mentioned statement of the room) it seemed that I had to crank the system up extremely high to get clear sound. There is no "surround sound" feel in the slightest! Even with the bass turned down on the back, it did not meet the expectations that I have heard from other systems similar to this one. So, I rate it 4 stars since I think the lack of "wow" is due to the type of room that it is in. Otherwise it would have been a 3. Still great setup with only 3 speakers.
the only way I can hear anything out of the bass mod is to put my ear up to it.
its the previous model but nothing has ever come from the bass mod.
there is no button on this one
The sound is typical Bose quality. I previously had a Samsung sound bar to go
with my 46" Samsung flat screen TV. Although the sound bar was good, the
Bose speakers are significantly better. The highs from the speakers are
outstanding and the bass from the subwoofer approaches theater type
listening! The only thing I miss is having the speaker control integrated into the
cable control. This is downside of not using compatiable equipment; a minor
The set was a breeze and the sound is amazing!! Great Product!!
System works great with my large screen Sony. Only comment I have is that
the interface module turns off after the TV is turned off. Just another button to
push to turn on the system, otherwise, sound quality is very nice.
The unit sounded better in the store. Somewhat disappointing.. I am still a Bose fan (owing a pair of 901's and AM5's) but this is a bit disappointing.
This product is great. It's easy to set up, doesn't take up much space and sounds terrific.
I'd highly recommend it.
I have had the Bose Cinemate Series II System for about 2 months and I am very
pleased. I bought it instead of a surround system for ease of set up and to not
have to run wires all over the room. I bought the Bose speaker table stands as
well. The sound is very good and plenty loud in the 20 x 20 family room it is
used in. It is pretty interesting how this works to be somewhat surround in
nature, it really sound like things come from the sides of the room (not from
the back, though). The base unit is tucked out of site in the corner and it
still sounds like the bass comes from the center of the TV. I also bought a
Logitech remote (the cheaper version) and have the push one button to turn on
cable, tv and Cinemate system-very easy!
I gave it 5 stars for what it is, a simple non-surround system that really makes
watching tv and movies much more enjoyable.
Great sound from a system that takes little space. Have compared to many all in one
surround sound systems and the Bose system provides better dynamic range, highs, lows,
and voice quality.
got this to compliment the sound to a toshiba 37" lcd and boy i wasn't wrong! this little 3
speaker system has me wanting to remove my existing acoustmas 6 set in my den
(base don't have base adjustment) and set up there. am blown away every time i turn it
on. only issue so far is i can't seem to sinc with the direct t/v remote, but its not that big of
a deal. thanks again to troy my advisor and crutchfield for superior service.
Very easy to hook up. I wish it had the ability to also work with PIP, it doesn't have
controls on the remote for treble, bass, and balance. Other than those issues it has
great sound and that's what really matters.
My wife does not like speakers and wires all over the place, but still wanted great sound to go with our 50" Samsung Plasma. This was "the ticket". The system has typical great Bose sound, and it can convince you sounds are coming from anywhere. The speakers sit on the black glass top of our TV stand and are barely noticable. The acoustimas module sits next to the stand and, although it isn't transparent, it's inobtrusive. It is easy to connect, program and use. If you want a bunch of adjustmment features, and all sorts of "gizmos and gadgets", this is not your system. However, if you want great sound, ease of use and setup, this is your system. Personally I like the Bose flat sound, as it seems correct to my ears. The programmable remote that came with it works great, too.
I swear I hear sounds from around and behind even making me think it is someone else in the room but its not anyone it is the show I am watching . I mean , not only is stereo separation excellent but also there is a surround quality I did not experience with the Boston Acoustics TVee model 2, which in all fairness was not that bad , but not enough treble controled sound , too muddy. NOT SO with the BOSE CiniMate Series 2 ! It really is a miracle how they can pack it with all the right electronics to make a total of three speakers only do the trick . Forget 7 speakers . Check out Bose before you buy anything . And of course Crutchfields award winning support , set me straight with regards to its use with Monsters Green Control Surge Protector. No Need . This system turns off after there is no incoming signal for a short period of time, and all you need to do is turn it on when needed. Its Worth The Money . Buy it , place it , forget it , oh no , enjoy every second of it , continually amazed. Better than I expected , and I expected Greatness. I'm really impressed. Just check out the Crutchfield Research Teams findings.Look at those Specifications . Our favorite feature: Digital Dynamic Range Compression: Digital Dynamic Range speaker compression circuitry enables you to hear soft sounds (particularly dialogue) even at low volumes, and still appreciate the impact of loud special effects.
I was initially deliberating between a 5.1 system such as the Bose Acoustimass 10 and something smaller/simpler like the Cinemate II. I live in an apartment so I eventually opted for the Cinemate II. Needless to say, I am blown away. For such a small system, this packs a serious punch. Between this system and a Sony XBR tv, I actually prefer watching movies at home rather than in a theater.
Just purchased the Bose Cinemate series two 3 system. After considering others i
decided on this one.I installed this in a small computer/tv room with a 26 samsung lcd
tv.Very easy to hook up and the sound is great considering only two small front
speakers and a sub woofer. If you want to improve he sound of your tv in a samll room
this is a excellent set up.Sound is clear & base is great.I would only use this system in
a small room or computer/family room.great sound for the price.Very happy with Bose.
I was skeptical at first, but not now.
I had JBL 4311B Control Monitors hooked up to my 60" plasma. JBL's were just to big and old) for the room but the sound was great! Anyway, decided to go speaker shopping. Price range for me was maximum $500.00. Looked at - Boston Audio - Denon - Polk Audio - Sony and was just not happy with the sound quality. Each one was lacking one or more areas of sound i.e. bass, midrange, highs. Then tested the Bose Cinemate Series II and WOW! A little more than I wanted to pay but well worth it.
Sound "feels" (not fills) the room. (15'x30') I can tell you you will NOT be disappointed. It is, however, imperative that you get the 38" speaker stands. Enhances the sound even more.
