About the Bose® Companion® 20 multimedia speaker system
Introduce your computer to the realism of Bose® sound. The Bose® Companion® 20 speakers are small enough to fit unobtrusively on a desk and powerful enough to fill a room with sound. A great choice for a laptop or a desktop computer, this system delivers clear highs, well-defined mids, and a surprising amount of bass. You'll hear new details in music stored on your computer — from the shimmer of cymbals down to the deep beats of a bass drum.
One of the coolest features is the control pod that's normally reserved for the higher-end Bose computer speakers. Turn the outer ring clockwise to pump up the volume or counter-clockwise to turn down the music. Tapping the top of the Bose logo mutes the music in an instant — very cool. The control pod also features a headphone jack and a minijack input so you can connect an additional source, like an iPod® or iPhone®.

Features
Overview: The Bose Companion 20 is a two-piece computer speaker system (no bass module) that reproduces full, natural sound at your computer. The Bose Companion 20 will dramatically improve the audio from your computer, while its sleek, space-saving design complements your computer environment. Proprietary technology and an advanced port design make your computer's music, games, and videos come alive with striking clarity and impressive low notes at any volume. The included unique control pod makes it easy to adjust or mute volume, connect headphones and add another audio device.
TrueSpace Technology: The Bose Companion 20 uses TrueSpace technology to reproduce wide, natural sound from only two speakers (no bass module needed), bringing more life to your computer's music, games, and videos. Proprietary TrueSpace stereo digital processing circuitry creates a wide two-channel soundstage engineered specifically for listening at your computer.
Advanced Port Design: An advanced port design and powerful drivers are key to the low-note performance that adds depth to your computer's music, games, and videos.
Dual Drivers: Each powered speaker is equipped with two 2.75" high excursion, wide-range transducers for high-performance sound.
Proprietary Integrated Signal Processing: Proprietary integrated signal processing delivers lifelike performance at almost any volume level.
Active Electronic Equalization: Active electronic equalization balances low, mid and high frequencies for more natural tone and clarity.
One Cable Computer Connection: The Bose Companion 20 requires only one cable connection between the powered speaker system and your computer. The right speaker features a 3.5mm audio input and includes a 46" stereo audio minijack cable to connect to your computer or other audio source.
Note: The left speaker features an attached 6' audio cable with a proprietary connector which plugs into the rear-panel proprietary port on back of the rear speaker (labeled "To Left Speaker").
Control Pod: The Bose Companion 20 includes a wired control pod. This unique control pod provides volume control, headphone output, and auxiliary input. The pod features rotational volume control and one-touch mute functionality, plus convenient minijack (3.5mm) input/output for connecting headphones and/or a second audio source (such as an MP3 player). Connecting headphones to the Companion 20 system mutes the sound from the speakers. The wired control pod plugs into the back of the right speaker, via its attached 38" cable.
Note: The control pod measures 2.5" in diameter x 1.125" in depth.
Placement: The size and shape of the Bose Companion 20 speakers make it easy to position them directly next to your computer. The Companion 20 powered speakers should be placed an equal distance from the center of your computer monitor. Make sure to pay attention to which speaker is left & right (identified on rear panel of each speaker). The should be between 18"-32" apart.
Automatic Standby: The Companion 20 system automatically goes into the standby state after two hours when there is no audio signal or the volume is turned all the way down. You can disable automatic standby so the system is always on when connected to power.
AC Power Supply: The Bose Companion 20 operates off of standard household AC current using the supplied AC power adapter and cord. The AC power adapter plugs into the back of the right speaker.

The sound is incredible--a new world of music. Why did I wait so long to buy them? The look is sleek and contemporary. The touch-on button and circle volume control are a great design. I highly recommend these speakers.
