Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. These are great speakers, the sound is far superior to any other PC speakers I had. However, at the upper ranges of volume - I guess from about 85 to 90% of maximum through to maximum - the sound got 'tinny' with vibe overtones. If you don't take it to the maximum they are just great. I wanted better sound at the higher ranges so I got the Companion 3 set, which yields wonderful sound at all ranges (see my review of this system). The companion 2 are great for most uses. 7 out of 8 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Good Imaging Written By Karl, Scottsdale, AZ on Friday, June 12, 2009 I had the opportunity to listen to several brands side by side, including the Bose upgrades. For the price, this is a pretty darn good value. The sound from these Bose, in my opinion, is much richer and fuller than the non-Bose models, even those with a sub. My thoughts on this are based on music where the application equalizer is set to nil. The imaging on these things are great. I suspect the rear ports help. (They sit 4 -6" from the wall.) Bass is good, certainly not wall shaking, knock you down heavy bass, but good. (If you have the extra $150 to upgrade to the Comp 3 w/ the sub- very sweet. But, $150 more...) Sensitivity is respectable. They handle the volume very well. Yes, crank it up all the way and it will distort. I believe that there is an expectation that all Bose should sound like a 5K system, which is unrealistic. My ears say these are a good buy for their intended purpose and I think you will be pleased. 7 out of 7 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. These speakers provide a clear and well amplified stereo sound when connected to my Dell Inspiron 9300, and the speakers look good. Probably the pleasing sound quality and volume is due to the fact that they are separately powered, i.e., they do not rely on current from the laptop's USB connection as do some less expensive speakers. The miniature RCA jack had to be rotated to make a good connection to the laptop, probably a shortcoming of the Dell. 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Best Sound For Price...and space Written By Tom, Winona Lake, IN on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 I originally bought a set of these for my mom's computer since she has very limited desk space. To say the least I was so impressed with the sound that came from these "relatively small" speakers, I went and bought a set for myself. They replaced a Creative 3 piece system that was reasonably sounding for what I had paid for it. As soon as I plugged the Bose in, I was blown away with the amount of bass that these speakers outputted. (hint: they have bass ports on the back so if you put them up against a wall for example, the bass is dramatically improved.) The sound was so incredible that I had to prove to my friends that the Creative sub was not "secretly" hooked up under the desk. Overall I think this is the best 2-speaker setup one can buy. Definitely the best for limited space applications also. Will continue to buy Bose. 116 out of 127 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. We are thrilled with our new Bose Compact 2, Series 2 speakers. They are so good, and so full of sound that they sound more like a 5.1 system than simply two speakers. They arrived yesterday and were a breeze to attach to our new Acer laptop. They produce more than enough volume to fill our kitchen, and sound so full of deep base that you would swear there is a woofer in the system. They have an amazing clarity for both vocal and instrumental music, and we are completely satisfied that we have an amazing set of computer speakers for our laptop. I would most highly recommend these Bose Compact 2 speakers for any laptop or desktop system. They automatically adjust for optimal bass or treble, and have a separate set of inputs that allows for MP3 or separate CD player or other device to be plugged in without detaching the computer. Simply a terrific set of speakers. 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
