Nice!

Written By TF, Hobbs, NM on Monday, August 18, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

IMHO these are much like other ear buds. The sound is good, but the buds don't seem to cancel much of the external sound - other than the fact something is covering up the ear canal. They are comfortable, but don't rest your head on anything, such as a pillow. Sometimes the "ear adapters" come off when putting on or removing the buds.

Bose IE2 Headphones

Written By BIg Dog Guy, Page, AZ on Wednesday, July 09, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Bose IE2s are the best "in-ear" headphones I have ever used. Typically, I find these type of headphones to be quite uncomfortable, but not the Bose IE2. The "Stay Hear" earpieces provide a secure comfortable fit. They sound good and stay put. Having owned and enjoyed several Bose products over the years, I have stopped questioning if they are "worth the price." For me, the IE2s are a good value because they provide exactly what I want in a pair of quality portable headphones .
Pros:
Secure Comfortable Fit Sound Quality Handy Zipper Storage Case
Cons:
Kind'a pricey. Cord appears to be a little fragile and easily tangled.

Great headphones. Excellent sound across all frequencies. After trying some headphones in the $50-80 range, I've come to realize that the Bose give you a lot for your money. I like the way they fit in the ear and have no problem with them staying put when I'm running.

Bose headphones

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After using the Bose earphones several times at the gym. I am very happy with the purchase. For an earbud type earphone sound quality is as expected from Bose very good. Please note under review one of the ratings is for (noise reduction) this model is not designed for that. The speaker wire is a little heavier than others but i'm sure it is needed for sound quality. Fit in ears well & do not feel as if they are falling out ever even running. Good product!
Pros:
Sound good & built well.
Cons:
Heavy speaker wire & price a little high

Earphones vs Headphones

Written By SandyK, Robertsdale,Al on Wednesday, January 22, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bose consistently builds quality products but over priced compared to similar products by other companies. The fit is good but wearing them in bed as I do creates a little discomfort. Since they do not fit snug in the ear canal like a typical ear bud, some of the bass gets lost...I must press the buds tight against my head to hear the deep tones Headphones that cover the ear will do a better job for those deep lows. Otherwise the sound is crisp and clear. I have read some complaints of the cord being too short, for me it is just fine...less cord to get tangled up. I am not pleased with the funky bi color design of the cord or the right angle pin connection, it puts a strain on the wire.

So, if you are looking for buds that will stay in your ear with good quality sound than these will do the job but at a higher price than others that will do just as well. If you plan to relax in a chair to hear your tunes than I would recommend a good pair of headphones that cover the entire ear. There are plenty of places that you can try before you buy, there are Bose stores close to most everywhere, then you can go to Crutchfield for a great price. Happy listening.
Pros:
snug fit, clear sound
Cons:
Even though these buds do produce a deep bass, you will not get the full benefit of the rich sound as you would with over the ear or full ear covered phones. right angle pin connection.

I bought these headphones earlier this year. They sound great. But I use them portably with my iPad. Within a few months of purchasing them I've found the connection with my iPad is very tenuous. Now I often have to adjust the connection manually to get the headphones to work in both ears. I am not sure that I would buy them again.

I like them very much

Written By GB3, Windham, NH on Sunday, November 03, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have not had many ear buds but this the best quality one that I have had. They sound better than others, more natural and are quite comfortable although the way they sit in the ear instead of plug into the ear canal is kind of strange and was a little hard to get used to. I am still not sure whether I prefer these ear buds or an over the ear design standard headphone. I could return these and get a standard over the ear set but I think I will keep them whether or not I buy another pair of headphones.
Pros:
light weight, portable, comfortable, not much if any sound bleed out, nice natural sound.
Cons:
Cord is kind of short for my use, have to be careful not to rip it out of the jack where I am sitting if I shift position.

Sound quality problems

Written By MarkWinVegas, Las Vegas on Monday, September 02, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use these with 4 different players, from mini disk to fm radio to mp3, usually at gym or hiking. Depending on the player, they have strange peaks, upper mid range, like the mid high aspect of a snare drum, that becomes annoying. Also, the ear shaped inserts are hard and slow to put in and out, like when you stop to say hi to someone.
Pros:
Seem to be nice quality.
Cons:
Sound with mid-high volume peaks, hard to put in and out quickly.

Bose IE2 Audio Headphones

Written By Curt A., Sudbury, MA on Sunday, July 14, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

By far the best earbud headphones out there. The newer 2 version with the added piece really helps to keep the earphones in place. They are extreamly comfortable. Most importantly is the sound quality across all frequencies, from high end to a nice tight base. for any true audiophile these are the ones to have.
Pros:
comfortable fit and great sound
Cons:
as with any of these they are delecate - I have already broken two earlier sets, but keep coming back

Save yourself some money

Written By Brian, Millbrook, NY on Wednesday, June 19, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Save yourself some money and buy these. I have been searching for headphones to use while running, hiking, biking for years. I have spent many dollars on buying cheaper models that would not stay in place, had lousy sound quality and inferior workmanship. I could have saved dollars, time and enjoyment by purchasing these first. They are great!
Pros:
Stay in place. Good sound quality. Well built.

After listening to these for a little over a week, I'd have to say that they sound pretty good for the money. The bass is solid and clear, but not overwhelming. There is the slightest harshness is the upper treble, but overall they have a pleasing and non-fatiguing quality to them. They are comfortable to wear for extended periods.
Pros:
Quality build, good overall sound quality, comfortable.
Cons:
No noise reduction.

Great headphone

Written By ChrisK, IL on Thursday, May 30, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these after my Monster iSport broke (my fault) and the Bose is much better. The Bose ear plugs are made of a silicone like gel that feels really comfortable. There are 3 difference sizes to meet your needs. They don't fall out when jogging or supine (when bench pressing). The sound is really nice too. Not much in sound isolation since they don't go into the ear canal, but I'm fine with that because I don't like the feeling on jamming something that deep into my ear. Comes with nice protective case big enough to hold the earphones and nano ipod. My best advice - wait until Bose goes on sale, usually twice a year they will discount their stuff 10%. Typically, they can't be discounted with coupons like at BB. Crutchfield remains my favorite retailer: 1) No tax 2) Free shipping and 3) Discover card Crutchfield giftcards through Discover's Cashback bonus. Thank you Crutchfield!
Pros:
Nice snug fit Great sound Noce case
Cons:
Black/White cord Very little sound isolation

Nice upgrade

Written By Eric, PA on Tuesday, February 26, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice set of in-ear phones. I bought them as an upgrade to a cheap pair of Sonys I had been using. The first thing I noticed was a much wider soundstage. While I don't listen at really high volumes, I did not notice one bit of distortion when I increased the volume. The detail in sound is very good. It's easy to pick out specific instruments in a song or background noises on a show/movie. They are pretty comfortable, although a bit awkward at first. Nice touch that they include 3 different sizes StayHear tips. Definitely worth the money!
Pros:
Very detailed, clear sound. As others have said, they do not tangle up like other similar earbuds. Nice carrying case included can also fit an iPod Touch.
Cons:
A little awkward to put in your ears at first, but that goes away after you break them in a bit.

Great fit, decent sound

Written By KG, Chico, CA on Monday, January 21, 2013

These are a good set of headphones. They are remarkably more comfortable than an in-ear version, but still have much of the subtle look of those. The comfort was the selling factor for me as the sound is about average for a set of phones in this price range. The bass is pretty muddy and at times overwhelming even at lower volumes. This muddiness led to a crackle (a moderate level of permanent distortion) when only a few months old. The mids are pretty good, though heavy in the low end but the highs are fine, especially when compared to what most people are used to like earbuds from Apple. The stereo imaging is also good whem making this kind of comparison.

The bottom line: the fit is the only selling feature but it's a good one, though the sound is more comparable to headphones that cost less than $60.
Pros:
Extremely comfortable and stay put even though they are not in-ear 'phones
Cons:
Overpriced and have a tendency to crackle due to overexagerated bass

The best In-Ear Headphones Ever

Written By Shane, Hyattsville, MD on Thursday, July 12, 2012

I've gone through a lot of In-Ear headphones in the market, and usually comes with great disappointment. Most of them are extremely uncomfortable, and constantly falling out of my ear, and on top of that; trying to angle them a certain way to get the best direct sound possible. I finally purchased Bose's IE2 headphones, and I'm extremely satisfied. The sound quality is truly remarkable. Very rich and natural acoustics, and the bass is incredible. The coolness factor is definitely the fact that they're a Bose headset, so you know the value and luxury of owning one of their products makes you feel "cool". The quality over all seems very well built, strong and durable. They don't feel like cheap plastic. Comfort is one of the best parts with these headphones. The wing design with the silicone tip is freaking ingenious. It helps stabilize the ear-bud no matter what you're doing. It's a light-weight form-fitting tip is what makes these In-ears separate from the rest. As far as noise reduction, there is not active technology in the ear-buds to make them noise cancelling, but the tip of the ear-bud fills the ear pretty well and naturally blocks out outside noise. Over-all I'm extremely impressed with these headphones and they're worth every penny. On top of that, Bose covers a complementary one-year warranty, and offers an out-of-warrant defective exchange.
Pros:
Sound, design, and comfort. Also comes with a protective case (size of an iPhone) with three different silicone tip sizes.
Cons:
None

Great running head phones

Written By Jesse.S, Seattle, WA on Thursday, May 10, 2012

I got them for 3 reasons. They wont fall out when I'm running or doing a lot of exercise and movement, and would be comfortable. The sound quality was amazing. Finally they arent noise cancelling. I need to hear cars, dogs, etc...while running outside and most the time I want to hear my family and my daughter if they have to ask me for something.
Pros:
Not noise canceling. My family no longer throws items at me to get my attention and cars dont sneak up on me when I'm out running.
Cons:
I dont really have any, my friends are all jealous and my wife wants a pair of her own.

Enjoying My New Earphones!

Item arrived very quickly! Love the fit of these Bose earphones especially since typically many of the other bud-type ones hurt my ears! These fit very well! As mentioned by another reviewer, these don't require you to insert them into your ear canal and the gel comfort piece keeps them secure. Love the sound! Happy so far!

So Far I am completely impressed with these headphones. They are perhaps the most comfortable that I have ever used, and the sound quality is typical for Bose... Fantastic! We will see how they last, but if past Bose products I own are any indicator I suspect I will be enjoying these for many years to come.
Pros:
Light weight, Extremely Comfortable, great base response & crystal clear highs, non isolation so external sounds can still be heard
Cons:

The headphones arrived quickly and the sound quality was impressive. However, the left earpiece stopped working after three days! Customer service immediately sent a replacement which has lasted a week so far. They were very friendly. After listening for awhile, I like the sound. But these are probably not worth the money. They quickly lost their wow factor and I have concerns about their long term reliability.
Pros:
Decent wide range of sound.
Cons:
Not very durable as they broke after a few days. Pricey. Feel heavy.

These are the best headphones I have ever had. Truly good.

I have had a hard time finding "audiophile" headphones since many of the bud-type ones must be inserted into your ear canal. I find this so uncomfortable that I can't use them.

These don't require that you insert them into your ear canal. And the little horn thing makes them secure. I had a bit of learning to do to insert them properly, but it's not hard to figure out.

Oh, and they sound heavenly, too.

Bose IE2 Headphones

Written By LRPS9107, Lehigh Valley, Pa on Thursday, October 27, 2011

i use these headphones daily for all activities and they hold up very well. (about 35hrs per week) just after 6 months the cable housing starts to wear away under earbuds (no damage to wires). Bose customer service will replace them within 1 full year from purchase with no hassle (just call them describe damage).

they are light-weight you barely notice you are wearing them after getting use to the new Stayhear ear tips. a major improvement over the standard ones.

the sound has greatly improved. allowing clearer sounds for all types of music. with other headphones i played music at 90% max volume. with these i am able to have the volume at <50% for same level of sound.

Pros:
Durable, great sounding, light weight.
Cons:
the life of the cables. I use them about 5hrs daily, 7 days a week. Most likely on my end. the cables start to wear away after 6 months of extremely heavy use.

Nothing but BOSE for my ears

Written By Ilana, Floral Park, NY on Thursday, August 18, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The only reason I got the new IE2 was because the wire on my first BOSE IE was ruined by my bird. Yup, my bird kept biting the wire and got through it. So I needed a new one. I did some review and found Klipsch image S4 was a good buy. So I got it. Im not sure what the experts heard from the klipsch, but the sound quality from the klipsch was mediocre. It wasnt even close to what I expected. I returned the Klipsch, got the BOSE, Couldnt be happier. Sound quality from the BOSE is still the best. I just wished the wire was a little bit longer. I know one thing, Im never going back to any other brands.

Bose® IE2 audio headphones

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these because of the stellar reviews from everyone else. Prior I have owned the Bose OE. The buds are very light and comfortable. I have not had to adjust them while running/exercising. I don't even realize that they are there. Primarily I utilize them while exercising outside and find myself having to turn up the volume higher than I typically would as there is much more external noise that filters through than what I expected. There is also a strange clicking sound if you don't attach the shirt clip. I ended ordering the Bose OE and giving these to my husband. (he loves them)

Bose quality for an affordable price

Written By SteveL, Pasadena, CA on Wednesday, May 18, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These IE2 Headphones provide a whole other dimension when listening to
portable electronics. You don't know what you're missing until you replace the
standard issue headphones with these Bose headphones. I use these to listen to
my iPod, bass trainer and also as an in-ear monitor headphone for my band. In all
cases these headphones sound great. It's hard to believe you can get so much
bass out of these tiny things.

The biggest feature are the ear pads. They fit inside your ear for extended
periods of time, without any discomfort. I've tried plenty of earphones in the past
and after a bit of time, they start irritating my ear. I can keep these on for an
entire day without discomfort. These ear pads come in small, medium and large.
In addition there are two styles, the kind shown in the picture and the older style
pads that (to me) fit more comfortably in my ear.

Personally I like the original IE headphones a little better as they don't seem as
bulky. But sound wise the IE and these new IE2 headphones sound the same to
me. I also don't care for the white and black cable, I wish they were all black
instead.

In summary, these IE2 headphones sound great, produce an incredible amount of
bass (without distortion), are lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day
without discomfort. If these were to fail, I would definitely replace with a new set.
Once you try these headphones, you'll never go back to factory supplied
earphones again.

Little Headphones, Big Sound

Written By Vince, Maryland on Saturday, May 07, 2011

I bought a pair of these because I was displeased with the sound quality of the
earbuds that came with my iPod. They are awesome-sounding, and the curved rubber
ear inserts make sure these don't fall out of your ears. I would recommend these
to anyone looking for impressive headphones, athletes, or students.

Think sound

Written By J.J., Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, April 16, 2011

I had a pair of these and used them almost every day for two years until the
left bud stopped working. I will order another pair. If your music on your mp3
player is a converted audio file, you are going to lose some of the sound
quality, it has nothing to do with the earphones. Even so, I have tried many
brands of earphones over the years and these are a step above the rest for
music, but the real difference comes when you use them when watching movies.
Wow! No other pair comes close for movies.

not worth the money

Written By Brandnewish, Salt lake city, UT on Friday, December 24, 2010

after reading the reviews and considering the notoriety of the bose name, I decided to give these ear buds a try.

and i must say.... im disappointed

i was trying to find something to replace my $30 dollar ear buds. I'm big on sound quality, but couldn't bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars on ear buds. to my disappointment, I find the sound in my old ear buds to be about the same as these bose ear buds. I did side by side comparisons on many different kinds of music and my $30 ear buds are barely, just barely lower in quality. these bose ear buds are not worth the extra money. i wouldn't waste my money.

IE2 > Previous Triports

Written By JB, Washington, DC on Saturday, September 04, 2010

First thing. I have owned/own multiple sets of Bose over-the-ear headphones and earbuds.

I got my Triport earbuds(it's the previous version) a couple years ago. They were great, except sometimes the ear pieces would fall out. Bose has since fixed this problem. These IE2 earbuds come with new ear pieces which fit well and stay in (I use the small set). Although the previous earbuds are still included.

As you would expect, the sound quality is excellent! Note: these are not noise canceling ear buds. Therefore you can hear some loud sounds in the background such as vacuuming, etc. However, I prefer these to my old noise canceling ear buds.

In addition, it includes a clip that you can use to clip to your shirt (which my previous set did not have).

Finally, because my old Triports died after a few years (the sound got crackly if you touched the base of the cord and the sound went in and out), Bose happily replaced them in store.

These earbuds come with a 1 year warranty.

Would strongly recommend to anyone. (Especially those who want to hear their music clearly and tell which mp3's are low vs. high quality)

1 question already asked

I owned the IE1 headphones. Are the IE2 better constructed than its predecessor? The wire covering started to deteriorate and shorted out the buds. [ Ed  Jun 14, 2014 ]
