Features
Overview: The Bose Personal
music center II is an additional remote for the Lifestyle 18 and 28 series II
and the Lifestyle 38 and 48, allowing you to control a Bose link-enabled system
or amplifier with speakers in an additional room. From the factory the new
remote is programmed to control Room B (the 2nd zone) of your Lifestyle system.
If you have more than one additional zone integrated into your Lifestyle system
through the Bose link interface, the music center can be reprogrammed to control
any zone. The Radio Frequency (RF) design means you can use this remote from a
different room without line of sight to the Lifestyle system.
LCD: The Personal music center
II remote has a
large LCD (approximately 1 3/4" x 1 1/2") that gives you immediate
visual feedback of your commands. Each screen is a menu navigated using the
arrow and select keys on the remote. In the source screen the LCD shows its room
label, all the available sources, and what source is feeding each audio stream.
The radio screen shows the band (AM/FM), preset number, and frequency. The
CD/DVD shows the type of disc, current track number, and total tracks. Perhaps
most useful is the stored music screen which controls the uMusic intelligent
playback system in the Lifestyle 38 or 48 systems. With uMusic control you have
remote access to the music stored on your Lifestyle's hard drive, including
search capability and all the artist/album/track/genre information recorded for
each file.
Setup: The factory settings are
changed in the setup screen. The remote name is the location where it's used,
the default setting is bedroom but there are three dozen room names to choose
from. The default room code is B, one of 15 options. The default audio stream is
audio 2, which can be changed to audio 1. The house code is adjusted to match
your Lifestyle system (factory setting on both is the same). The backlighting,
contrast, brightness, and timer for the LCD are all variable, and the display
language can also be changed to match the Lifestyle system.
Operation: Along with the LCD
menu system, the music center remote has unique size and shape buttons for quick
access to typical commands, including specific uMusic functions.
Power Requirements: The remote
operates on four "AA" batteries (included).
Low Battery: When the battery
capacity drops below 25% a low battery icon appears on the LCD screen.
Radio Frequency (RF): The RF
operating range of the Personal music center II is approximately 80 feet in a typical house and
direct line of sight is not necessary. The actual range will depend on the
material and density of the walls and obstacles through which the signal must
pass. The RF transmission frequency is 27.145 MHz.
