New color, same legendary headphones

Bose's QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones have long been regarded as among the very best noise reduction headphones ever made. Now they're available in a limited edition slate/brown color. The look is every bit as sophisticated as the internal circuitry that blocks out external noise so you can relax and focus on your music.

Better noise cancellation with innovative Bose technology

The QuietComfort® 15 headphones feature microphones on both the outside and inside of each earcup that pick up the ambient sounds in your listening environment. Special circuitry inside the earcups then reacts instant by instant to produce an opposite, canceling signal. This circuitry efficiently minimizes unwanted external noises, so they don't interfere with the music from your portable player or the dialogue from in-flight movies.

The QuietComfort® 15 headphones also feature Bose's innovative TriPort® technology. It uses tiny vents in the earcups to produce a tonally balanced sound with deep, rich bass.

Take calls. Take control.

Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones Limited Edition Slate/Brown

Let distractions melt away so you can relax and enjoy your music.

Bose includes a headphone cable made for select Apple products. A three-button remote control built into the cable lets you conveniently answer, end, and switch between phone calls, control the volume of your calls or music, and pause, play, or skip through your songs. You can even enjoy hands-free conversations on your iPhone®, thanks to the remote's built-in microphone. The microphone also lets you take advantage of the voice control feature found on many of the latest iPhone, iPod® and iPad® models. Just hold down the button and say your command.

A comfortable listening experience

The earcups feature a plush cushion material that feels great. Plus, their around-the-ear design helps further seal out distracting noises. An adjustable headband helps ensure comfortable listening for hours on end, making these headphones great for long trips. You also get convenient portability — the earcups fold flat for easy storage in the included carry case. The single-sided cord helps resist tangles, and you can even disconnect the cord altogether and just let the QuietComfort® 15 headphones wrap your ears in soothing, restful silence.

I thave thought about buying a pair for years and finally made the purchase. I sould not have to waited. The sound is amazing!! They are beautifully crafted and very stylish. The noise reduction capibility will leave you relaxed and smiling.

The sound quality is good, rich in details. The noise cancellation is SUPERB! The best so far. It is quite comfortable to wear, even for hours. Also the design of this edition is the best you can expect from Bose, which usually looks cheaper than it is. The only and main problem is that you have to change the batteries and I shall say that the frequency is a little higher than you would expected. Once it is a chargeable headphones, it would be my one and only choice.

Pros: Good sound quality Comfortable to wear Excellent noise reduction

Cons: Have to change the batteries

I should have ordered earlier.

I finally broke down and bought Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones, motivated by the sale price of $269.95 ($30 off regular price). Although I am retired, I travel a lot, including frequent long haul international flights. I decided to spring for these headphones to muffle the noise of aircraft engines, crying babies, drunk and/or snoring seat mates. I also want to be able to listen my music or watch a movie and be able to hear well without interference. SO, I think these are well worth the price and I can't wait to "test drive" them on my next flight, coming up in 10 days.

Pros: Great sound, very effective noise canceling function, ear cups are comfortable and the headset is adjustable. Like the option of chocolate brown leather instead of the usual black. I like the carrying case that came with the headphones which makes carrying them and storing them easy and safe.

Cons: The plastic parts (like the trap door for the battery compartment) feel and look cheap. When plugging in or removing the connector to listen to music, one must be very careful to not break it. Also, it would have been helpful to have better and more complete instructions for set up and use. I had to call Bose for help to find the battery compartment which is not easily found. The customer service person said "yes, I get that question a lot." Come on, Bose, punch up the instructions, please

I have waited a long time for a pair of Bose headphones and the wait was worth it. They sound great and the noise cancelling is nothing short of awesome. I did plenty of research and read a lot of comments on these headphones. I could have ordered these headphones from anywhere since they are always the same price everywhere but I chose Crutchfield since the have such great service. I even got them a day earlier than promised.

Pros: Great sound, excellent noise cancelling & Crutchfield's awesome service.

Cons: A bit pricy but you DO get what you pay for with these headphones.

These are actually pretty nice looking. The brown color gives them a classy look and they look much better than last year's blue edition. They are comfortable to wear and the noise cancellation is fantastic. I also own the QC3s and the noise cancellation is not as good. Sound wise these are very good, not the best I have ever used but more than satisfactory. For travel or use in places where there is a lot of noise, these really do well. I would not choose them for use in a quiet place with high end audio equipment but I don't leave home without my QC15s.

Pros: Best noise cancellation around.

Cons: Still a bit pricey.

I own another earlier model of the Bose head phones and used them for years BUT this is the BEST pair I've owned ever! Super comfortable to wear and I am able to even sit near the tv while my wife is watching it and plug into my laptop and not hear the tv at all. Great sound quality of what I WANT to hear! Most times I don't hear her either!! Just kidding :-)

Pros: Lightweight, comfortable & really keep the sounds OUT.....great!

I bought these primarily for long airplane flights. I've been using a set of cheaper earbuds that do a decent job of eliminating airplane noise but do nothing for voices, etc. Also, earbuds can get uncomfortable if they are in for hours. When I received the QC15s, I first tested them in my office. It's not a noisy space, with mostly white noise from computer fans and HVAC. Putting them on attenuated the ambient sound quite a bit, and activating them seemed like entering a sensory deprivation chamber. I then turned on a TV and tuned to a female announcer. Her voice was audible through the headphones, but was significantly quieter. (I repeated the experiment with a cheap pair of Phillips noise canceling over-the-ear headphones. They eliminated most of the white noise, but had zero effect on voices.) I took the QC15s on a few multi-hour flights. They were comfortable for extended wear - the ear seals are buttery-soft and provide good sealing. They did an amazing job of cutting the airplane drone noise to insignificant levels. With no music, one could hear announcements or spoken words quietly but with greater clarity. After wearing them for a while, you become used to the quiet isolation they provide. Taking them off makes the cabin seem so noisy as to be uncomfortable. With some music playing, you become unaware of all cabin noise. I should add that I am not an audiophile, and can't speak to the music reproduction quality with any authority. Seemed fine to me.

Pros: Nearly complete elimination of white noise like jet engines, fans, etc. Decent reduction of talking and random noises. Comfortable even after hours of wearing.

Cons: As they are over-the-ear headphones, they are bulky to carry while traveling. Hissing and higher-pitched noises aren't canceled as well as lower frequency ones. Cord seemed a bit flimsy for pro-grade gear. But, it's not hard-wired so replacement would be easy.

The Quiet Comfort 15 eliminates all engine noise and road noise made by my old truck. It allows me to listen to books on tape at a low volume. When camping all sounds of annoying generators are eliminated. Very pleased.

Pros: Replacement ear pads are available.

Cons: Would like a cord that would reach from front pocket to headphone, without having to roll the remaining cord in a circle and securing with a twist tie.

Bose Quiet 15

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I thought this noise canceling headset would solve my issues with noise reduction. I was looking for noise canceling that would cancel voice noise from TV, but it doesn't. When people in my house are talking and I don't wan'I to hear it I try to block there speaking, so I put these Bose QC15, voice noise gets in. I also noticed on the sound quality which is very good, but if you ever tried Sony Headphones, with the 40mm driver, you will be blown away at how much better the sound is in the mid range and especially the bass range. I'm going to try Sony's new Noise canceling headphones when they come out this Oct 15th, 2013

Pros: good for blocking a steady noise like air conditioner fans. Comes with a good carrying case to protect. Almost feels good wearing them

Cons: not good for blocking voice noise. Does not have good music quality. It sounds good, but just too flat of a sound. If you want really excellent sound try Sony.

Bose QuietComfort 15 Rocks!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After hearing some friends' sets of QC 15s, which they, being frequent flyers, purchased for their use while flying, I knew it was time to replace my old set of headphones. The Bose, while not the most comfortable headphones I've ever put on, are the most comfortable pair I've ever owned. Their dynamic range is fantastic, and the bass response is clear and strong, but not overbearing. But, of course, their claim to fame - the noise-cancelling feature - is unmatched. The moment I saw that Crutchfield had placed the Bose QC 15s on sale, I went online and placed my order; and, as I expected, they arrived in just a couple of days. Thanks, Crutchfield, for making it happen for me - again.

Pros: Noise reduction lives up to its claims. Sound is full and spacious.

Cons: Ear cushions could be fuller and a bit more comfortable,

Written by: Brad from Raleigh, NC on September 1, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These headphones do exactly what they're supposed to do, that being "cancel" noise. While wearing these, any static noise is filtered out. I can hear voices occasionally if the music volume is very low but I'd almost prefer that in case someone is screaming my name at work. Very comfortable, haven't had to change the batteries with a couple weeks of frequent use, and they look sleek and clean. Maybe not the most top tier audio quality, but that's not why I bought these. Still a very satisfied customer!

Pros: -Comfortable -Block noise well -Ease of use -Good looking product

Cons: -Not "top tier" audio quality

I held off on buying the Bose set as I thought my well sealed earplugs were good enough, but after trying out a friends set on a flight I was sold. I compared the QC15s against other sets in store displays including Beats Executive, Audio Technica and Sony models and the Bose was the most comfortable and provided the most effective noise reduction.

Pros: Comfortable, best noise reduction, decent sound quality

Cons: Build seems a bit cheap for the price. Good thing they come with a hard case or they would probably get broken sooner than later.

great for planes

Written by: Susan from Massachusetts on July 26, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these on the advise of my brother in law who loves his. Every year after a long plane flight, I consider them then decide that they are too much money. I have trouble hearing the movie over the plane noise and I can't sleep due to the loud constant noise. My husband convinced me to use our credit card rewards dollars. I borrowed my brother in laws and used the tractor to mow the lawn. While my music was playing, I had to lift them up to make sure the mower did not stall. I was convinced that this would make for a worthwhile purchase after that. The purchase was so worth it. I love these! I used them for music on the plane as well as watching several movies (no adaptor was needed). It drastically reduced the plane noise. It only muffles the voices nearby but with music on, It was not bothersome at all. They were very comfortable and fit perfectly on both my ears and head. While travelling, they fit in a hard, protective case which holds adaptors and spare batteries. The case is a bit big but worth the space in my carryon . As a 47 year old woman, I was a bit concerned about looking silly but these seemed age/gender neutral. Once on, I really didn't care, I just wanted a nice plane ride and some sleep. Mission accomplished! Crutchfield is a great company to work with. We have ordered many items through them and they have great customer service, and quality products. These arrived in a few days with free shipping.

Pros: comfortable, great sound

Cons: a bit bulky to wear and store away (but worth it to me for a plane ride)

Ideal noise cancelling audio headset

Written by: franko from hawaii on July 7, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wasn't initially going to purchase this headset but I've been flying a lot lately so my wife decided for me that since I've been wanting to replace my old noise reducing earbuds that I should get these for father's day. What a wise spouse I have. These headphones are sooooo much better than the sony noise cancelling ear buds I had been using. The demo in the Bose shops didn't seem relevant but now after using them in an airplane I see why they do the simulated airplane noise test. It's so applicable! The over ear cans are so comfortable, after 6 hours, no pressure in my ears and no discomfort at all. Sound is wonderful. These are highly recommended for anyone who wants to get rid of distracting noise. Now I'm using them in my office and it allows me to study since the AC hum has gone away. I should have bought them sooner and not have been afraid of the price. You truly get what you pay for.

Pros: extremely good noise cancellation - airplane, office, it doesn't matter. They allow you to concentrate on the audio or just think.

Cons: The limitation of having to turn them on to get any sound from the source is a minor disadvantage. Really confused me initially when I forgot this and kept trying to fiddle with the source volume controls to get any sound.

I demoed a lot of other noise cancelling headphones, and kept coming back to the Bose QuietComfort 15. They are not as bulky as some of the "cooler" full size phones out now, and the noise cancellation is second to none. This is my 3rd pair of Bose headphones, as I keep wearing them out! I will definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates quality and the Bose level of engineering their products.

10 hour flight test

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They work well. What else do you need to know? The flight was from London to Houston sitting in the back behind the engines. Connected to an older iPod. Sometime late in the flight, I put these on my wife's ears (she normally uses ear buds). Her reaction was "I want a set of these". Comfortable for 10 hours continuous wearing. Like I said, they work well.

Pros: Noise reduction. Quietness. Easy to use. Music quality very good. Lightweight. Comfortable.

Cons: No "coolness" factor.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased for use on my CAT excavator and JD Tractor to provide ear protection and be able to hear the radio clearly at a reasonable volume. The Bose noise canceling ability is excellent, When you turn them on the rumble of the engine, even at wide open throttle, goes away! When not plugged in to the radio, there is no hiss - the world just gets quiet and my ears are safe! These headphones replaced defective Koss headphones also purchased from Crutchfield, Crutchfield's support team is excellent. They went out of their way to get me set up with a good set of headphones!

Pros: Excellent noise canceling ability. Comfortable but slightly loose fit. Very sophisticated looking headphones.

Cons: Not as rugged as some others, slightly loose fit, Designed for the passenger compartment on a commercial airline. I would like slightly larger ear muffs but these work ok. They are more expensive that the Koss headphones which they replaced. Unfortunately, the Koss headphones didn't work. Two year warranty with some strings attached. A bit too expensive. They tend to "pop" with pressure changes in the cab when traveling over rough ground on the tractor.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You can get better sound for $100 less. If you just want to listen to music, don't bother with these. However, if you want noise reduction, these do the job. I've used them on planes and trains, in bed with someone who snores really loud, etc. I've tried several other n-r phones, just as pricey, that don't do nearly as well. Also, while parts of this seem flimsy, I've slept with them and subjected them to a lot of strain, and no problems. The detachable cord allows you to pull the cord out without damaging anything. Good batteries last 30-40 hours.

Pros: Noise reduction, well built, comfortable

Cons: Sound quality is not that great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Though these do not cancel ALL external sound, they are excellent almost-noise cancelers. Equally amazing, they are full-size headsets that are actually comfortable for extended periods. Sound quality is excellent for the classical music that I use them for. The rotating earpieces allow for a quite compact case that still has room for the accessories and some spare batteries. And speaking of batteries, the single AAA cell lasts a looong time. I'm up to around 15 hours so far on the first battery. Headphone technology at its refined best.

Pros: Great sound, enhanced with reduced external noise interference. Quite comfortable for ear-surrounding headphones. Takes away airline drone.

Cons: Noise reducing but not noise cancelling

QC 15's did everything advertised...the best noise cancelling headphones on the market with outstanding sound reproduction and comfortable to wear. I tested these against headphones from B&W, Sennheiser, Beats, Polk Audio etc and liked these the best. Some were too heavy or uncomfortable and others noise cancelling abilities were lacking. Confirmed the noise cancelling capabilities on a plane ride with a crying child...I had a nice quiet trip!!! I would definitely recommend giving these a try.

Best sound. Ever

Written by: Jimbo from Florida on December 15, 2012

Owned 1 year. Only real gripe is build quality. I am careful and have no issues, but suspect road warriors would be eventually disappointed. I think some of the fragility is due to concerted effort to cut weight. If you can manage this concern, I must say this gives the most clean, natural, balanced sound ever, ever in anything outside THX certified environment. Will state I am not fan of artificially jacked up bass that some headphones promote. With QC15's you hear music as intended, including low bass. Classical is purest ever. The lightweight allows me to wear comfortably for hours at a time. Closed design may make your ears warm in summer. NC is best in under $301 group, have tried many brands with same music. As far as complaints about not running without a battery, how much trouble is it to put a couple spare AAA in the case? In the end headphones or earbuds represent a compromise of our evolutionary bodies being conformed to modern environment like airline headrests. You need to pick what compromise you can live with. I have never been a fan of Bose finding them overpriced, but am open minded enough to recommend these heartily. If it lasts I would consider them to be an excellent value.

Pros: Weight, natural sound, acceptable battery life

Cons: Fragile, cost. I wish there were earbud version for working out.

The ABSOLUTE best headphones on the planet!!

Written by: JerryD from Virginia Beach, VA on December 4, 2012

While everyone else wants to style and profile in the other faddish and colorful brand name headphones, nothing compares to the sonic purity, noise canceling ability, and brand excellence of the Bose QC-15s. First, Bose has always been synonymous with high quality sound reproduction and their reputation precedes them. Second, I've owned several Bose products in the past, including other models of headphones, and I've never been disappointed. And finally, I did a side by side comparison with the other popular brands and it was no competition. The others were very bass heavy (I guess that's what all the kids like-thumping bass) with very little emphasis on overall sound equalization, and the noise cancellation feature couldn't compare whatsoever. If you want to look faddish and cool like all the popular atheletes sporting big, bulky headphones, go right ahead. But if you want the best features from headphones such as quality sound, noise cancellation, and reliable performance and comfort, Bose is no doubt the answer. And by the way, they look cool also.

Pros: Superb external noise elimnation, excellent sound, comfort.

Cons: None

I have been looking for a pair of headphones for long time that I could wear on the plane so I could watch movies and listen to music. I tried a couple of different types of earbuds with no luck. The engine was just too loud and I couldn't hear all the dialogue very well. I finally had to give in and pay big bucks for these headphones. The price is outrageous, but I just couldn't stand sitting on a plane for 3 or 4 hours without some type of entertainment. The sound was really good and almost all the engine noise was blocked out. I could however hear (very well) the people sitting around me having a conversation. Somehow it doesn't block out this noise. But that is easy to tune out. i have only had the headphones for one trip, but I was glad that I had them.

Pros: Comfortable Blocks engine noise Good sound

The only thing I can see is the connecting wire is very small and seams to be fragile..Maybe a problem with that in the Furture... Otherwise, they're Great! Highly Recommend these!

Pros: Unbelievable Sound, Crisp and Clear Highs and Midrange with Great Bass! Blocks out almost all outside noise...Love these!

I'm a college baseball player who was looking for the perfect pair of headphones to use while on the road for the right price. I set my spending limit at $300. I was strongly debating between a pair of these headphones and the Dre Beats. After listening to both pairs of headphones there wasn't any comparison. If your looking for the best headphones in the under $300 range then these are the what you need! My top concern was noise reduction, these headphones are phenomenal! The beats tone your surroundings out by using a very heavy bass, which is really the only Pro of those headphones. These QC 15's literally eliminate any outside sound without even needing music! The bass was very impressive, and the mid's and high's are very crisp. These came fully equipped with a very good case, manual, and extra chords. These are the best headphones you can buy!

The Bose QC15 headphones are Bose's top of the line acoustic noise canceling headphones. They have a very classy look and feel to them, and they are made with the same precision that we have come to know and love from Bose products. Pros: - Very high build quality: thick and durable plastic and soft touch padding - Perfect amount of padding on the headband and around the ear cups - Headphones can extend to fit almost any head size comfortably - Ear cups are attached to a twisting and swiveling mount that adjusts comfortably to your head - Comes with long audio cable, inline remote and microphone cable, and airline adapter - Comes in a hard and durable carrying case that protects your headphones on the go Cons: - Price Sound quality: - These headphones sound amazing. Every genre that I have listened to sounds great. Rock, jazz, hip hop, rap, you name it - it all sound incredible. - The vocals, instruments, and bass are all clear and easily heard - Very crisp and full sound - The noise canceling technology does a great job of canceling out environmental noise. It can even cancel out cabin noise on a plane. If you would like to see a more comprehensive review, please feel free to watch my in-depth video review that I made for my YouTube channel. Bass is better than most, sound quality is alright

Written by: Zedj from GA, US on June 6, 2012

I exchanged the Beats by Dre Studios for these today as Monster has decreases the amount of bass on Beats and that's what i wanted. I have to say the bass and sound cancellation is better than the Studios on the QC15's but the sound quality is not as good as the Studios. If i were to recommend one or the other it would honestly depend on a lot of factors. If you were to buy used Studios that were made before the last few months then i would much rather have them. But if you want to buy new then i would reccomend buying the Bose, it all depends.

Pros: Great Sound Cancellation Good Bass Good for Acoustic Music

Cons: Not good for rap Not the best sound quality

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've thought for years about getting these for use on flights, but finally decided to get them to help my concentration (as I work from home) when my teenage son comes home from school and TURNS UP his music in the next room. I thought about getting the smaller (on-ear instead of over-ear) version, but I'm very happy with this choice as I found it not to be as large as I imagined they'd be. Once turned on, you can definitely hear the noise cancelling at work. I'm an engineer, and thought it would silence the noise like an anechoic chamber does, but while it won't silence the noise, it does reduce it considerably. When I plug it into my iPhone to listen to music, the cord is long enough with the iPhone on my belt. But when I plug it into my TV, I'd wish they had a wireless option... maybe they will in the future. I might try adding a wireless bluetooth transmitter, receiver combination. That would be a great accessory for Crutchfield to offer.

Pros: Reduces background noise and sound considerably. Comfortable over-ear fit.

Cons: Doesn't completely silence the noise, but then I doubt any compeitive brand does either. Wish it had a wireless (cordless) optional accessory, or at least came with a few feet longer cord.

I bought the Dr. Dre Beats from a local big box store. They have great sound quality with good base. Although these had great sound, I really like my music loud and thought the noise leakage might be too much for the person sitting next to me on a plane. I ended up returning these and bought the Sennheiser PXC-415's as they received excellent reviews. The Sennheiser's were very well built, however, when comparing the Sennheisers to the Bose QC-15's on the same source, I noticed the bass was just not there on the Sennheisers. I returned them and now have the Bose QC-15's that I am very satisfied with.

Pros: Good seal around ear. Comfortable Lightweight When you put these on, the noise canceling feature is better than the Beats or the Sennheisers. Nice blend of treble & bass

Have never before owned a pair of noise canceling headphones so was not sure what to expect. Since they are Bose, I really like Bose equipment, I figured that they would likely be very good. The sound quality of them are incredible. I use them with my I Pod and they sound better than any headphones I have ever heard. Since I was expecting a total cancellation of all ambient noise, I was a bit disappointed. However, after trying some of the high dollar Sennheiser noise canceling headphones, I discovered that the Bose are far superior. The only complaint that I have about them is the microphone used for phone calls. It picks up too much. I have had several people on the other end tell me they were having trouble hearing me. If I am in a quite room, there is no problem. If I am in the car, people have trouble hearing me. I have yet to have Siri understand me when I am using these headphones. Overall, these are very good headphones.

Pros: Sound quality is outstanding.

Cons: The mic does not work very well.

The sound and the noise reduction is awesome but the quality of the plastic lower part of the headset on each side leaves a lot to be desired. -- the plastic just above the pivot point cracked and eventually broke on both sides of my headset. I fixed it with superglue twice but am now having to buy a new pair--the headset still works but the plastic is so broken that i can't wear them---Bose did offer me a new set at a reduced price which is good but given that I am convinced that this is a defect that I am sure others will experience it would be nice to have been given a replacement--and I would hope that they would have redesigned the plastic piece. Second for something costing as much as this does , a volume control should be on both ears--some peoples hearing is different one ear to another. (mine has no volume control on the headset at all).

I expected the best and was not disappointed! They come with the required battery! I called several of my workmates over and all of them just said, "Wow!" Their eyes lit up. I guess mine did, too, but I wasn't looking in the mirror. They fit perfectly and are comfortable to wear throughout the entire day. I take them off occasionally to speak with my team member. I have a 2' x 4' air intake nearby (size of dropped ceiling tiles) and while it isn't all that bad these phones really make my world a lot nicer to work in. The included cord lets me plug into my computer to hear Slacker or Pandora (internet radios). The cord is a little short but the ads say these are designed more for the airplane traveler so that's okay. There is also an airplane adapter and it all fits in a fantastic case. The cord is removable from the headphones and is fairly easy to insert without removing them. What's unusual is there is a switch for Low or High volume, but you have to remove the cord from the phones to change it as it is inside them once plugged in. The only thing I might suggest is a volume control actually on the left cup (where the cord plugs in) or in the cord near it. But this is just a minor issue to me. The phones rotate so they fit flat for storage and they are easy to transport. Overall - TOP NOTCH! I'm 100% glad I bought them.

QC15

Written by: Bob from Charlevoix, Mi. on July 18, 2011

I have enjoyed the QC2 headphones for over four years. I use these with lawn equipment and other machinery. The QC2 was good but the QC15 has improved the noise cancelling by a factor of 10 or better. Great decision to upgrade my equipment.

Good N/C..but

Written by: Jeffrey from Phoenix,AZ on July 1, 2011

Audio quality *** Noise cancelling efficacy **** Durability *** Cost/Value *** Overall rating: ***1/2 The Bose QC15 headphones have the best noise cancelling, but durability is not so good. Used regulary for 1-2 years and the materials used will have begun to deteriorate. The Audio Technica noise cancelling headphones have slightly less effective noise cancelling but better sound quality vs the Bose QC15 if balance and a more natural bass (less exaggerated) is important to you. The Audio Technica are no better than the Bose QC15 in terms of durability, however the Audio Technica headphones are half the price of the Bose. The best noise cancelling headphones for durabilty are the Sennheiser's which kill the Bose and Audio Technica in terms of sound quality, but the Sennheiser's lag behind both the Bose and Audio Technica in the efficacy of their noise cancelling effectiveness.

Very Nice

Written by: Pat from Albuquerque on June 26, 2011

I have yet to use these on a plane, but I suspect they will be excellent. Why? I tried them out on my back porch with a large ceiling fan. I turned them on & they totally blocked out the fan sound. The audio seems excellent, but my hearing is so poor I am a bad one to ask. I just listen to podcasts & these are fine.

Great sound and extremely comfortable

Written by: Fred from Gainesville, FL on June 20, 2011

Love these headphones so far. Been using them at work now for 3 weeks or so. Does a good job at blocking out co-workers conversations and other noises around the office. Not so noise cancelling that I can't hear my phone ring, which is a good thing. Didn't realize you had to have a battery in to even listen to music but that really should be that big of a deal. A single AAA battery has latest a long time so far. I can just keep a few extra in the case, which by the way, is very nice. They seemed to be on the expensive side, but I feel they have been worth the money. Super comfortable. Glad I went with these instead of the on-ear model.

Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Written by: Brigitte from Cottage Grove, OR on May 28, 2011

These are THE headphones you are looking for if you want to block out ambient noise and have a comfortable listening experience to your ipod/music player. They do NOT block out people's voices, only ambient noise, so be aware of this if you are buying them for this purpose. I use them on the bus to work and they completely shut out all the bus mechanical/traffic sounds, allowing me to read and listen to music in peace. Highly recommended, as is ordering them from Crutchfield - their service (from order confirmation to shipping and delivery) was the fastest and most customer-friendly I have ever encountered (and I do most of my purchasing online).

GREAT headphones!

Written by: Robert from New York, NY on May 28, 2011

It took me almost a year to decide to purchase these. My only regret is that I waited so long! On long flights it is a joy to listen to music or soundtracks at regular sound levels. Cutting out so much ambient noise also cuts down on the fatigue factor when flying. They also work well (without the cord) dampening the noise of the New York subway - a definite bonus! Crutchfield service was exemplary.

Great headphones.

Written by: Ian D from Seattle, WA on May 27, 2011

I am like everyone else who was scared to spend $300 on these. however after a 14 hour plane journey to Europe, it was worth it. I was able to listen to my ipod or have complete quiet on the plane for a change. it was great! Sure, I wish they were cheaper, but that's Bose. I would recommend these to frequent flyers anytime. So far the AAA battery has lasted over 30 hours and is still going strong.

Not What I Was Expecting

Written by: MaryH from Rockville, MD on May 14, 2011

When my parents bought me these headphones they were for blocking out all noises when I'm having an anxiety attack, so that even if I can't be alone, I would at least not have to hear the conversations and noises around me. While the headphones do block out some background noise (not all as proven by 20 hours in a RV), they do not block out any voices, even those coming from the next room. I was even able to have conversations with people with the headphones on. I really expected more from Bose and this product.

Pros:

Cons:

Too Good

Written by: DaveF from Affton, MO on May 2, 2011

Received the headphones via UPS within the time stated for delivery. These headphones have enough range that I can hear that my ITunes does not give a duplicate of the copy from the CD. However when listening to the CD I find that I have missed part of the musical experience as my previous headphones and stereo speakers do not have enough range to do justice to the artists work. The only disappointment that I have is that I had expected the headphones to completely cancel out external noise. The listening experience still deserves a 5 star rating

Got these for my wife's birthday. Bingo! She loves them. Uses them to watch Netflix movies on her laptop at night while I'm watching sports, etc. on TV. She also took them on a recent flight and just wore them without hooking them up to anything. Said that it made the journey much more enjoyable and relaxing. Also, as always SUPER fast and efficient service from Crutchfield!

I am a pilot and use these in my commute back and forth to work. I have used them for two weeks and am disappointed with their performance. The noise reduction is much less than I expected and my expectations were not that high. I have wanted these for a long time because of people's great reviews and am shocked at the low level of noise reduction. Headsets are comfortable but sound quality is not extraordinary. I have other Bose equipment and expected more.

Pleased so far

Written by: Phil from Pennsylvania on March 31, 2011

I never ever thought that I would cough up this much for a pair of headphones in my life, but I'm glad I did. I work in a distribution center with a very loud PA system that FM radio is played through. I recently moved to a new office in a part of the building that has 6 loud speakers within a stones throw of my office, the high pitched noise that was made worse by awful commercials was too much for me to handle, I started going home with headaches. After a filed attempt to get some of the speakers removed I turned to these headphone. I have been using them for 2-3 weeks now and it is amazing how well they shut out the noise even when I'm not listing to any music through them. After sitting with these on for a few hours it almost hurts my ears when I take them off and get bombarded by the loud speakers again. They feel pretty comfortable on my head and ear. I don't like wearing hats or sun glasses or anything else on my head but these don't seem to bother me much and after sitting for a while I don't notice them hardly at all. Audio quality seem good, I'm not a specialist or anything but the bass in rap sounds good and deep and the highs in rock music sound equally as good. I feel that I got my moneys worth on these and they probably saved my career and my sanity.

Quite good, but........

Written by: RonW from Watertown, WI on March 16, 2011

These headphones had great build quality, were very comfortable, and their noise cancellation was fine. The only complaint I have is that they could have better audio performance for the $300 price. I primarily listen to jazz and classical music, and when a passage gets "complex" with a lot of instruments or vocals at the same time, the QC15's clarity suffers. It sounds a bit too "jumbled up". I have a pair of Sennheiser HD590's, that handle my music much better at $250 ( but they're not noise cancelling), so that's why I tried the Bose. They're pretty good...........but no cigar!!

GREAT noise cancellation - everything I hoped for. I'm not goingt to say I was completely blown away by the sound quality (not that there was anything wrong with it, it just didn't sound any better than my regular headphones) but then again I am by far NOT an expert. Definitely a good buy though for the noise cancellation, and that's what I wanted.

I soley use these for music from my pc althogh I do use a fiber optical to my home theater and plug the headphones into that, so the sound is awesome without rocking the house. Great for watching late night tv too. Only drawback is I should have bought the set with the rechargable battery and 1 AAA battery doesn't last long when you use them daily but great product

After LOTS of searching and trying...

Written by: MikeL from Fayetteville, AR on March 5, 2011

I tried the AE2 first, and they just sounded too thin and too bright for me. Gave the Klipsch Image Ones a shot and they sounded really good, especially for the money, but on ear just wore me out after a few hours. Same was true for B&W P5s. They sounded awesome and the cool factor was high, but the pressure on my head (large "heed") was too much for the price. Next were the Dre Beats. Booming for sure, but construction and sound a bit out of balance for the $$$. I used to think the QC15 would make me motion sick. I am so glad I tried these. They are keepers. The around ear comfort is great. They can make your head warm after hours of use, but any set is going to do that. The balanced sound is what I really wanted. The bass is not wimpy by any means, but it also doesn't linger over the crisp highs. Sure, I think they should be about $100 cheaper, but with everything else in this range, I'm just really happy with the set. And, as always, Crutchfield makes trying things (especially in Signature series) a real pleasure.

Cons:

Great... only one drawback

Written by: David from Charlotte, NC on March 4, 2011

Great sound, very comfortable, suppresses just about all exterior noise. Adequate protective carrying case. The only drawback is that it needs a AAA battery (I recommend Lithium) or it will not function. I keep 2 fresh ones in the carrying case at all times. I would recommend this product.

Another sound defying product from Bose

Written by: Mark from Syracuse, NY on March 1, 2011

This product is another marvel from Bose. I am not a fan of paying $299 for headphones, but the sound quality of these headphones is amazing. Our only other experience with Bose is their wave radio, which we received as a gift. We are amazed by the sound that the wave radio puts out and expected similar results from their headphones. We were not let down! The sound quality of these headphones is remarkable! The headphones seem to cover a great range of sounds, with remarkable crispness. Good bold base too, without being over-bearing. I was also not a fan or buying a set of headphones that take batteries, but these headphones use only one AAA battery that can last up to 35 hours or so. I haven't experienced the noise canceling feature yet, but these headphones have an option of being used (without being plugged into a music device) to eliminate background noise, like on a plane ride or whatever. great feature! They come in a convenient carrying case with wires to fit diferent size jacks, like an Ipod/Itouch ... and even come with a double prong plug to be used on airplane jacks! My only reason for rating them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think they are expensive. Well done Bose!

I have been looking at the Dre's (studio's $299) and there top of the line(pro beats) $499. the Q's dont hit hard like the Dre's,but, again, the Dre's dont offer the N.Cancelling.. lol if u get these.MONEY WELL SPENT

After reading all of the reviews and listening to the QC15 display set locally, I decided to give these headphones a try. I am blown away, the noise reduction circuitry is a miracle. I travel frequently by jet plane and the white noise is all but canceled out entirely. The QC15s bring an all new level of serenity, relaxation and restfulness to any trip. Flying from NYC to LA is a long flight, but my Bose headphones make the trip more enjoyable. I'm surprised that nearly every reviewer here can't say enough great things about this product, saying they are amazing, and then complain about the price? Yes they are pricey BUT they do exactly what they claim to do, and are the best on the market. This type of technology isn't cheap. Wouldn't it make more sense to complain about the price if they DIDN'T work? They DO work and I am a believer. Worth every penny.

I fly over 100K miles per year and these are absolutely wonderful at cancelling all the noise and allowing me to escape by listening to music or watching video on the I-Pod. They are particularly nice on the older, noisier turbo-props. They are the most comfortable of all the headphones I have owned. I appreciate the case - keeps them protected when not in use. If you want the absolute best - then you want the Bose QC-15s.

I would recommend the QuietComfort 15 without reservation for both the noise cancelling functionality and the phenominal sound reproduction.

Excellent (almost)

Written by: Joe Bloke from Oregon on November 1, 2010

I gave the Bose QuiteComfort 15 headphones a four star rating because a 4 1/2 wasn't possible and, I think they fall just short of being a five star performer. Make no mistake, these headphones deliver very good (distinctly Bose) sound quality, they're comfortable and, they do a good job of knocking down most ambient noise but, I don't think they are excellent (or five star). Could be I'm being to picky but, when using them, I can still hear some muted ambient noise and, since I'm used to listening to good headphones already, I'm not blown away by the sound quality, even through it is quite good. I've owned a pair of Sony MDR-V6 headphones that I bought many years ago, when they were cutting edge for what I would call upper mid-fidelity equipment (at the time). In terms of sound comparison, I think the Bose have better base reproduction than my old Sony's but, the high end of the scale (treble) seems to be somewhat compromised to achieve a fuller base sound. All that said, I'd buy the Bose again because they do represent a great value and are an improvement in most ways from my aging Sony's. Additionally, it generally requires much more cash than it's worth to get from very good audio equipment, to excellent equipment.

I bought these due to the noice cancellation feature and the reviews. They work great. Being deployed is a noisy world. These help drown out A/C's aircraft noise and the guy snoring in the next bed. I am no audiophile, but the audio is great and watching movies all the little sounds are audible, when before they were drowned out by background noise ni the room. Construction seems to be good and the are confortable. I have had them for 2 weeks now and use them alot. I am still on the original battery that was suppied. Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Written by: Charles from Seattle on September 13, 2010

I have had these headphones for a couple of weeks and I am enjoying them. I own about a half dozen headphones, all costing in the $300-500 range. The Bose holds its own when driven with my IPods and my laptop computer. It has good base range. Where it excels, of course, is noise canceling. I have not yet used these on a flight but tested them against my obnoxious neighbor's pressure washer, which he uses several hours a day. The noise disappeared within two seconds of flicking the switch on the Bose. The main downside of these phones is the cheap construction of the actual head band where it connects with the cans themselves. Other than that, I highly recommend them.

Written by: jack from Salisbury,NC on September 10, 2010

Wow incredible this is by far the best headset, I tried them in a busy shop with all the noise surrounding me, kill 90% by just switching on the headset no simulation or music, in the Bose store it's too quit to really feel the difference, I went half around the world with those on, you can hear the movies with low volume, good sound, a little hiss may be but better than the rumbling of the aircraft, also an other good future of those you may pay a lot but but they resale for a lot too! it's a win, win situation, if you don't like them you can sell them for almost what you pay for, not like most of the others.

Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Written by: James from Lexington, KY on June 22, 2010

Used my new QC-15's round trip on my recent Asia trip. 35 total flight hours. The noise cancellation works very well. The "white noise" from inside the airplane nearly goes away. People talking, announcements, people snoring next to you, all are dramatically reduced. The highlight of these is the quality of the sound from my iPod. I listened to music for 30 of the 35 hours, and the quality is better than absolutely anything else I have used on a plane before. Even better than what I use at home. I will use these at home from now on too! What's better, on the plane, you don't have to have the volume as high, because you are not compensating for the background noise. For a couple of the movies I watched, the sound was clearer than what I ever thought possible on a plane. Again, with the volume relatively low, I could hear even low noise on the soundtrack very clearly. I highly recommend. By the way, the original AAA battery is still going strong after 35 hours! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is the high price; everything else about the product is outstanding.

Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Written by: Skaperen from Wheeling, WV on March 21, 2010

The Bose QC-15 changed the way I listen to music while at my computer. Now I can actually turn the volume down and still hear the music. The quality is definitely better (in part because I don't have to crank the level up so high to drown out family noise). I rated this product a 5, but I'd kinda like to give it just a 4.9 because it lacks a physical volume control. So I have to always adjust the volume on the computer. If two people were sharing the same audio with a Y-connector, they would not be able to set their own volume level. Other than that, this is an excellent choice for anyone that wants an "around the ear" style premium headphone. One last drawback is if someone nearby needs to speak to you, they have to tap you on the shoulder or wave their hands at you. But I consider that a plus. One warning: don't use while driving since you might not hear the horn of the big truck about to run you over.

I have compared these with many...

Written by: Anonymous from Anthony of Rochester, NY on February 24, 2010

I have compared these headphones with Audio Techinca 7b's and Sennheiser PXC 350's... and these are simply the best. I know they are priced higher but you really get what you pay for with these. The Audio Technica's were very good at noise canceling (almost.. as good as the Bose) but the buzz in the background was much louder and the feel of the headphone was not as flawless as the Bose. The Sennheiser's had great audio quality but lacked big time in the noise cancelng department... big upset. All in all I have personally tried each one side by side and if you want the best of all worlds without regard to price... Bose all the way. If you truely cannot afford the Bose... and I mean truely... I would probably SETTLE for the Audio Technica's. Hope this helps future buyers I know it was hard shopping for me.

Definitely worth it

Written by: Anonymous from Milford, OH on February 3, 2010

I was skeptical because of the price, but the price is the only drawback. These are the only large earphones I've ever worn that didn't hurt my ears. They also completely cancel out any ambient noise. I just slept all the way to Bangor, Maine from Cincinnati with a stopover in Detroit. I had my iphone tuned to quiet music from the ipod it contains. In short, they do just what they say they will do, which is refreshing.
