Travel

Minimize external distractions so you can relax.

Acoustic Noise Cancelling technology

Bose's Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone technology employs microphones in the earcups to monitor the difference between internal and external sound. A "correcting" signal is sent to each earcup to dramatically reduce unwanted background noise, keeping distractions at bay and allowing you to hear your music more clearly.

Control your iPhone® remotely

Own an iPhone? Keep it in your pocket without losing control. The QuietComfort 3 headphones come with two detachable cords, including one with an in-line three-button remote for use with your iPhone, iPod® or iPad®. Answer calls and control music playback — or adjust the volume for either — with the push of a button. Don't worry about dozing off and dropping your iPhone while listening on the plane. Keep it stowed away and let the remote take care of it.

Perfect for a long flight, noisy office or just relaxing at home, the QuietComfort 3 headphones feature cushioned, comfortable earcups, ensuring you can keep them on for hours. Even without music playing, the noise cancelling circuitry can be activated to block out the world so you can relax. The built-in battery provides up to 25 hours of listening or noise cancelling time and is easily rechargeable with the supplied wall charger. Features

Acoustic Noise Canceling Headphone Technology: The patented Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone technology in Bose QuietComfort headphones provides full-spectrum noise reduction for a better audio experience. Microphones in the ear-cups actively monitor what you hear, including unwanted outside sound. The difference between the unwanted sound and the desired sound is then electronically processed, creating a correction signal that acts to negate the unwanted noise. The speaker within each ear-cup is then fed the correction signal. This signal, combined with the passive noise reduction of the headset itself, dramatically reduces the outside distractions that reach your ears.

Comfortable Fit: The QuietComfort 3 headphone feature cushioned on-ear pads for a comfortable fit. The headband is padded for additional comfort, especially for long-time use. You can gain up to 3 inches in headband length, allowing comfortable settings for a wide variety of head sizes.

Detachable Cable:  The headphones use a single ear-cup 53" audio cable, which gives you far fewer problems with tangling than two-cable designs.  When you're ready to listen to audio, just plug the cord into the left ear-cup and into your audio source. If you plan to use the QuietComfort 3 headphones for noise reduction only, you can simply put the headset on and switch on the noise reduction circuitry. There is no need to connect the audio cord.

Control Talk Cable: The Bose QC3 headphones come with an additional 5.5' cable customized for select Apple products. A 3-button remote and in-line microphone let you take calls on your iPhone and manage music on other Apple devices. You can control volume, track selection, and voice applications; plus easily switch between calls and music.

  • Hands-Free Talking: When your iPhone rings, just push the integrated answer/end button on the headset's inline remote to pause your music and take the call from your iPhone. The omnidirectional mic on the back of the inline remote picks up your voice clearly, so there is no need to hold it to your mouth. The other party is heard through your compatible Bose headphones. You can end the call with one more touch of the button, and your music continues from where you left off. The built-in in mic also supports voice control from your compatible iPhone.
  • Music Control: The Control Talk cable offers volume, track selection, and voice application features for your compatible iPod/iPhone through the inline remote. You can adjust volume up/down, play/pause tracks, skip tracks (forward/backward), fast forward/rewind within a track, and change playlists.

Note: The remote and mic are supported by the iPod nano (4th/5th/6th gen), iPod classic (120/160GB), iPod touch (2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPhone (3GS/4/4S), and iPad (1/2); as well as MacBook and MacBook Pro (2009 model or later). The remote is also supported by the iPod shuffle (3rd/4th gen). Audio is supported by all iPod models. You can also purchase a mobile kit (018QC3CELL, sold separately) that lets the QC3 headphones work with other cell phones, too

Airline Adapter: A dual-plug adapter is included for use with most airline audio systems.

Battery: The QuietComfort 3 headphones are powered by a single rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which provides approximately 25 hours of reliable run time. A small wall-socket charger is included.

Carry Case: You can store the headphones and accessories in the supplied carry case. The ear-cups rotate and fold so they can be stored flat in the crushproof case. The length of the supplied strap can be adjusted for ease of use.

I tried these out to see if they could mitigate the noise situation in my small listening room during the ac use season. I put them on, slid the power switch forward and the ac disappeared. The imaging is excellent when used with a Dolby Headphone Processor.

Pros: Lite weight, good frequency response.

Cons: As with all headphones that have good isolation, when using them, you had better have someone keeping on top of what is going on outside of the user's world, in case an emergency situation developes, unbeknown to the listener.

The best so far.

I went into a store that sells high quality headphones, we did a comparison, the store manager brought out some headphone that was supposed to be there best, noise cancelation was ok, but I could still hear him talking , he put on the bose , I was screaming at him, he couldn't hear me , act like he didn't want to take them off.

Pros: Pro

Cons: Wires. Needs up and down volume on the earphones , but you can't please everyone , but you can sure try. good job bose!.

I've been wanting these headphones for some time and finally decided to use my company holiday gift card to treat myself. The sound quality is great as is the noise cancellation quality. I love the Bose reputation and workmanship.

Pros: Bose name. Superior Quality. Noise Cancellation is great. Rechargeable battery.

Cons: Cord is troublesome and can be the wrong side plug in if used with a laptop (like at my office). Feels tight (squeeze) if I wear them too long. Pricey.

Excellent product

Love them on planes, which is why I got them. Find they work well in bed just listening to music or streaming video.

Pros: Lightweight, battery lasts

Cons: Cord gets in the way, can't be used as just headphones, must always have noise cancelling on or the don't work.

To me it's the best Noise Canceling headphones ever after Bose QC15

AWFUL.

Written By AveryC, North Carolina on Monday, April 22, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to wear on frequent over seas trips that I take with my husband. I wore them for two days and they broke! The on and off switch just stopped working randomly and it would cut off the sound and the noise cancellation. I did not realize that actually sat on top of the ears and really didn't do a good job of controlling sound leakage or noise cancellation. Personally, I don't like the Bose that sit on top and don't go around just for the comfortable factor but I thought I would try these anyways. Every time I moved my head or neck, the ear pieces would slip off my ears and I would have to readjust them, which is very aggravating. The cord is too long on it and it gets tangled up on EVERYTHING, the same goes for the 15's but I can live with that since they are way more comfortable. For how much they cost, I returned them immediately and switched them with the 15's which I love.

Pros: The only pro of this situation was the customer service reps at Crutchfield. They asked no questions, just apologized and had the 15's out immediately to replace them. I will continue to be a Crutchfield customer for that reason alone.

Cons: Cheaply made, uncomfortable, horrible sound quality, not enough noise cancellation and leaked too much of what you are hearing, to others around you.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The newer compact size makes these headphones much easier for travel. They're pricey, no doubt about it, but short of industrial-strength ear plugs these are a great way to block out a significant amount of airplane noise, loud conversations around you, or even the neighborhood lawn mowers.

I like them a lot!

Written By Jim, NJ on Monday, July 02, 2012

I have had these for a few years now. I love them for what they are. Cant you get better sounding headphones for the money? YES! However the noise canceling ability of these is why I own them! I have headphones that cost about 40% less, sound better (opinion) but these are definitely the best Noise Canceling headphones I have ever used. The $50-$100 models you see everywhere simply do not compare. I use them in the office when I need to be "in the zone" or when I fly. Really cuts out the background noise rather wll.

Pros: Best noise canceling headphones i have ever used

Cons: Price

Want to TUNE OUT the World???

Written By K FITZ, Columbia, SC on Wednesday, February 15, 2012

I review all my items and not just the ones I just LOVE or just HATE. When I give these headphones 5 stars, they have earned a true "Highest Quality" rating. If you are like me and have to listen to your music in the best possible quality you already know BOSE. The main thing that got me excited about these headphones are the COMFORT and CONSTRUCTION! I can't even feel these things on my head and the new rechargeable battery couldn't be cooler. I bought an extra so I always have one fully charged on stand-by.

If you are like me and your daily grind involes an open office and 100 cubicals, these bad boys will put you in your own world and all of the sudden it's 5 o'clock haha. Not to mention, you won't have to put up with that god awful voice/laugh from that person every office has. I can't say enough about these things, except test em out with some quality Blues music and realize what kind of range these things have!!

Pros: Small compact, but built with quality and care. The exsesive padding to ensure comfort over long periods of use. SOUND!!

Cons: Absolutly nothing, but a Bluetooth feature would be awesome!

Best headphones I've ever used

Written By bonkersdivasmom, Bloomington, IL on Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these because I'm a home-based medical transcriptionist who works out of her apartment. I need to be able to understand what is being dictated, but apartment living can get rather noisy. I bought these headphones to hear the doctors more clearly and to block out the noise, and these headphones do both jobs extremely well. Once I get these things on my ears and turn on the noise-blocking function, it is so much easier to do my job! I'm planning a cruise to Alaska in June, and I'm going to take these along not just for the plane flight, but to help block out noise in my cabin on the cruise ship. One minor quibble...I wish the headphone cord was a few inches longer. I have Bose speakers on my computer, and the headphone plug-in port is on the right speaker, but on the left ear on the headphones. When transcribing, the cord sometimes gets in the way of my typing because of its short length. Still, that's a very minor issue, and overall I'm quite happy with this product!

Pros: Very comfortable on my ears, even for long periods. Blocks out noise well and makes medical transcription much clearer.

Cons: Headphone cord is slightly short and can be awkward to type around.

Worth The Price

Written By GaryJohn, Sierra Vista, AZ on Monday, July 18, 2011

In the past I have spent a lot less money for noise cancelling head phones. I have a Sony model and it reduced some noise and it raised the volume too. That is nuts. I have seen the advertising for these headphones and to be honest I thought it was just over priced hype. I was wrong. I am really blown away with these headphones. I hear music from my itouch better than anything before! The noise cancelling is all I hoped for it to be. I have asked others in my travels how they liked their phones and all were pleased but no one offered to let me test them out. You can buy these used for a lot less money but is it worth the risk? Crutchfield has a liberal return policy so I felt more comfortable spending my money with them (as always). If you want to return them, Crutchfield works with you. But once you try them, you will NOT send them back. Amazing product! It even came with the battery!! Finally some defense against screaming babies in the plane.

Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Written By e, SF, CA on Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Great sounding headphones and perfect for plane travel. The rechargeable battery lasts a really long time. Since they're on-ear, I can only use them for 2-3 hours, but I think that's a function of the style and not Bose. My only real complaint is that the hard case eventually rips the faux-leather on the headphones, which I'm told is $60 to replace. I've had mine for 3 years so hopefully they've fixed that.

Excellent quality phones

Written By WD, Louisiana on Tuesday, January 18, 2011

The Bose QuietComfort 3 is worth every penny. Whether you use it to cancel background noise or listen to music, it does the job. The fit is very comfortable and light weight. On a recent trans-Pacific flight, it was far superior to my previous phones. The battery life is excellent and lasts through 14 hour flights with power to spare. You will be pleased.

Best travel companion I ever had. On a long flight to Honolulu they saved me from going nuts due to the noise from the aircraft engines.

I also loved the long duration of the rechargeable battery. Well worth my investment on these headphones!

Highly recommended.

Awesome sound Amazing fit

Written By Anonymous, Lancaster, CA on Friday, April 30, 2010

I just received my headphones. The sound is incredible, I feel like I in the studio as the music is being recorded. Sebastian Sidi and Nicholas Gunn are unbelievable.

The fit is what blew me away. These are the most comfortable headphones I have ever put on. I can not go back to cheaper headphones - there is no comparison.

After 2 years

Written By Stefencar, Dallas texas...ok Afghanistan on Thursday, April 15, 2010

After having the Bose 3 for 2 years I can honestly say this is a WOW product. I recently flew on an old Russian helicopter, and my music was clear and the noise outside was greatly reduced (yeah i still hear the rumble but boy was it reduced).

Tell you what I did to measure the noise reduction. I turn off the music. The rumble was more noticeble but not uncomfortable. I turn the headphones off and there was noise like on a plane but not next to the engine. Then I took the headset off. OH the pains I had in my ears from the roaring noise!!!!!! ...lol Whew Thank you Mr Bose for the ear plugs that did not go into my ears.

Ok the downside of this product is the custom batteries. I've lost 1 of them and a charger. At 50.00 a replacement I was 1/3 of the way to buying an other set.

Incredible

Written By mdptex, Houston, TX on Friday, March 19, 2010

Bottom line, best headphones I have ever heard. Made me want to listen to every CD I own, again. The noise canceling is incredible. Can't take them off.

So-So performance

Written By Bill, Northern VA on Sunday, February 21, 2010

I have had these QC-3 headphones for just over a year now. I fly almost every week. (176 flights last year) I can honestly say that these do not cancel all the background noise. At best they knock it down about 15 db.

They are not the most comfortable out there either. After about an hour my ears are sweating inside the earcups.

They sound just ok. These are not at all hi fidelity. They are about as good as an average pair of ear buds as far as sound quality. They have a very limited amount of dynamic range and the bass is typical Bose poorly defined. After a year the earpads start to shed little black flakes all over yourself. The vinyl flakes make a mess. Save your money and get a good pair of proper fitting earbuds. They block the same amount of background noise and will sound better.

AMAZING!!!

Written By April, Alameda, CA on Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I purchased the earphones as a Christmas gift for my husband. He is amazed at how phenomenal these earphones work! I tried them on myself and was surprised to hear how much it cancelled the outside noise! He's been wearing them at home and work and can't wait to use them on our next plane ride!

Fantastic!

Written By Mark, Greenville, SC on Tuesday, July 07, 2009

I purchased the Bose QC3 headphones in 2008 while on a business trip
and have never left home without them since. In fact, my wife has insisted
that we order her a pair for our next international trip. While the
headphones do not drown out every noise on a flight they do make a
significant difference and allow you to actually enjoy the flight (and your
music). I couldn't be happier with this product and look forward to ordering
a second pair for my wife.

QuietComfort 3 Work

Written By Bill, Davis, CA on Wednesday, June 24, 2009

I use lots of yard and garden units that generate high noise levels. I had tried ear plugs with some success but the new Bose QuietComfort 3 unit really works great. I can now mow my lawn or till the garden with minimal noise levels. The headset fits well and is so simple to use, it was a purchase that I should have made years ago.

Frequent Traveler

Written By Jay, Fordyce, Arkansas on Wednesday, January 21, 2009

I have owned several different Bose headphones, this QC3 was on my list to buy. I love all the Bose products Sound this headphone is great than the QC2 it does the same and even better. The only suggestion to Bose is that if you want to use the headphone without the noise canceling is not possible. So cannot multitask with them on. A Noise canceling ON - Off would help a lot. Also the case could be a little more compact carrying case. Overall Its a great Buy. I recommend it and you will love it. Guaranteed. The Customer Service with Cruthfield is Excellent as this was my 1st buy with them, and is not my last one either. Great Job.

Bose QC3

Written By Joel, Plano, TX on Monday, November 10, 2008

I originally owned the QC2 headphones. Unfortunately, they were stolen. I travel frequently and have grown used to listening to music on the airplane and drowning out sound unwelcomed sound. I replaced the QC2 with the QC3 and I now know that I made the correct choice. They are more compact than the 2's and more comfortable, as well. The charge is compact and easily fits into my backpack. The first QC3's that were shipped turned out to be defective. Crutchfield was so easy to work with - they replaced them without question on the very day that I called. No waiting until they received the defective product. So, no risk buying from an Online vendor with customer care as excellent as Crutchfield. The replacement pair work fine and I am very satisfied with the product. The sound quality of the QC3 is amazing. The noise cancelling feature is just okay, but still, it helps muffle rather than obliterate cell conversations, crying babies, and the safety talk.

Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Written By David, Bidwell, Ohio on Tuesday, September 23, 2008

I knew that the QC3's would be a great buy when I purchased it as I was able to use them on an American Airlines flight (they hand them to all first class passengers on international flights). The sound quality is unbelieveable, even more so than I remember. They are light and do not squeeze my head even after a 10 hour flight. I would highly recommend these to anybody!

Best sound in it's class

Written By Hammer, Vermont on Saturday, September 13, 2008

I own the triports and the qc3's. I find the qc3's to be both better
sounding, more natural and more comfortable as well. I will say that in
regards to listening to my zune. the difference in sound is mostly negated.
However, when hokked up to my receiver whether listening to cd's or my
pc with a creative x-fi sound card, the difference really comes through. As
far sa a set of earbuds that came with you ipod sounding crisper, sorry you
feel that way, but you just don't know what music sounds like. these
sound better all the time. while many "crisp sounding" headphones leave
you fatiged. These along with the denon AH-d1001 are the finest
offerings at crutchfield for the money. And if you're listening louder than
these can will play, you can expect hearing loss in the near future.

QC3 vs QC2

Written By Mark, Newport Beach, CA on Friday, September 05, 2008

Just bought the QC3s. I went to a Bose Store to Demo both the QC2 and QC3. I was under a false impression (as I'm sure many of you are) that the QC2 would provide a more thorough noise suppression both with and without music, due to the over-the-ear design but this was proven completely false. They had me put on the QC2 first and created white noise at a fixed level just outside the headset. Then they had me put on the QC3 on-the-ear set and ran the same exact white noise and the QC3 was demonstrably better, without a doubt. They also had me listen to music on both and ran the same white noise outside the set and the result was the same. Plus, the QC3s were more comfortable. Combine these features with the 20hr. rechargable battery and the choice to spend another $50 was a no-brainer. Anyone who says the QC2s filter out more noise or are better because of the over-the-ear design is absolutely wrong and a Bose store with the experts will prove it to you. Can't wait to get them in the mail!

Great Product

Written By John, Fort Worth, Texas on Wednesday, July 09, 2008

The Bose QC3 headphones worked well for my purpose, which was to help eliminate background noise in a hospital setting. Until I used them, I didn't realize just how much noise there was! I also like the "over the ear" design, rather then "around the ear" and "in the ear" products, which tend to get hot and uncomfortable for me.
I am very happy with this product.

QC3 vs QC2

Written By DocTimW, Lubbock, Tx on Tuesday, June 24, 2008

I have both and really enjoy them for different reasons. My daughter and I
just returned from Africa and each way we had 4 flight legs with two 8+
hour legs back to back!We traded back and forth and this is our conclusion.
We both had MP3 players hooked up to the headsets. Airplane noise
reduction the QC2 is the quietest. Because of the "Over the Ear" cups.
Sleeping comfort the QC3's were slightly better. However, they also can slip
up the ear when turning on your side. I had no problems sleeping with the
QC2's. If you are expecting NO NOISE type reduction..you will never be
satisfied as your skull bone transfers sound regardless of what is sticking in
or around your ears. Comfort: I have had two malignant brain surgeries
and my head is sensitive to pressure....NO PRESSURE PROBLEMS WITH
EITHER BOSE SETS!! (Tried "In-Ear" buds on a different trip and got sore
ears and pain within 2 hours!) Battery Life: Both were trouble free and
gave many hours of rest, music, and enjoyment. Sound Quality: Both have
a lot of Bose Bass but I adjusted the MP3 accordingly. Conclusion: Traveling
on airplane==QC2's. Traveling in car or at work and don't want to mess up
your hair==QC3's. Also spent many hours on a 4x4 Diesel Bus in Africa and
both headsets were enjoyable with no squeeze, never had battery issues,
good sound quality, very relaxing travel!! You pay for what you get. I am a
highly satisfied Crutchfield/Bose customer!

WENT TO ENGLAND 1ST CLASS WITH THE HEADPHONES I WAS ZEN THE WHOLE FLIGHT

A Little Disappointing...

Written By Scott, New York, NY on Friday, April 25, 2008

The QC3's do seem to have a rugged construction; they're very nice and small and they're relatively comfortable. But overall, I was somewhat disappointed.

They block high-frequency white-noise such as the sound of the air vent in my office very well, but this is the type of noise that's also very easily blocked by simple foam earplugs. The thing they don't block very well is low-frequency noise like that from the diesel construction machinery in the lot opposite my house. They also don't do all that well in eliminating the sound from people chatting on their cell phones in the train.

I'm an engineer and I realize that active noise cancellation is a difficult problem, but these guys are supposed to know what they're doing. The main reason for using ANC is to eliminate low-frequency noise that's not easily absorbed with foam. Maybe they're filtering what they block. Maybe the headphones are designed too specifically for airplane noise and not noises from everyday sources.

When using the headphones for music, I don't find the sound to be nearly as crisp as with my regular IPOD earbuds. Overall, I think they need to re-work the engineering of this product.

Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Excellent headphones. No complaints at all.

Great sound

These headphones are fabulous! Great sound, separation and noise cancelling is very good. All the necessary connectors come with the phones for plane and my Sony PSP.

It is so handy to have the charger. Certainly worth the extra money over the Quiet Comfort 2 set. No batteries to lug around.

Great product that makes listening to my IPod a delight. It was amazing to realize how much noise and static is in the environment. Only wish it was water resistant so I could wear it exercising -- it really blocked out the sound of the treadmill, but I perspire too much to use it for that purpose regularly.

Best Sound for the Money!

Written By Doc, Palm Coast, FL on Monday, December 17, 2007

So, you're looking for noise canceling headphones that sound great and are super cheap? Then go read another review. Since when can we have the very best technology available, and pay nothing for it? I have spent almost a year researching and listening to tens of noise canceling headphones with great sound. I finally decided the Bose 3's were the best buy for the quality I expected. And yes, you do pay more for QUALITY. These headphones are extremely light weight, produce incredible sound throughout the full spectrum we sub par humans can hear; and eliminate about 90% of ambient noise when listening to your favorite music at a reasonable level, about 50% of the maximum volume. For those of you who think these are expensive, and want complete elimination of all ambient sound; go buy a par of aircraft designed headphones for pilots. You'll pay about triple the price of these if that is what you want. And believe me, they are big and cumbersome. Not the type of headphones you would pack in your suitcase. I got exactly what I paid for with the Bose 3's: Great sound, great comfort, and near perfect poise reduction. These are by far the best head phones I've ever owned. Bose is a name that stands for "quality"; and they will not let you down. For those of you who complain about the cost; you should have done what I did. Bose ran a holiday special; so I received a free MP3 player (nothing fancy, but plays great), and $50 off on an additional purchase at the same time. No problem for me there. I merely picked up an extra lithium battery for the headphones. If my calculations are correct, I received an extra lithium battery for free. That gives me forty hours of playing time with the two batteries; more than I'll ever need on a trip. Speaking of which, I would be mistaken if I didn't mention the battery and charger. For one, they don't come any smaller or lighter. You merely attach the battery to the charger, and plug it into any electrical outlet. In two hours or less you'll have 20 hours of listening time. By the way, Bose states you get a 70% charge in about 20 minutes or so. The battery and charger are so lightweight, and designed in such a way that you don't even know you're carrying them. They fit perfectly in the lightweight Bose case; along with your other accessories. Yes, you even have room for your iPod or MP3 player right in the case. Bottom line: These are the best noise canceling headphones for the money! If you don't believe me, take advantage of Boses' 30 day money back guarantee. You have nothing to lose but a great listening experience with almost no ambient sound. And if you would prefer those large heavy, cumbersome headphones pilot's use; you can always return the Bose. My bet is once you hear them, everyone in your home will be fighting over them. Good luck!

Works fine

Anyone expecting a total noise cancelation shall study FFT theory first to realise technical background or the way this works. For me Bose works as I want it to - cancels all the static noise (plane engine, computer fans, general ambient noise). It's gives better result if you turn the music on (but I often wear it on w/o music player, just to get rid of the surrounding buzz at office). Thanks to noise cancelation you can use minimum volume on your music player and still get clear sound not damaging your eardrums. The device is overpriced, unfortunately there's no alternative. I've spent a lot of time trying various noise canceling headphones and finally ended with Bose.

Good for a Month, but then develop Feedback ring

Written By Gavin M, Pasadena, CA on Thursday, February 22, 2007

I purchased a pair, and it worked well for about a month, but then the left earpiece developed a feedback ring. I exchanged them (Kudos to Crutchfield for the quick exchange!), but after a month, the new pair developed a feedback ring in the right earpiece. I don't know whether to exchange them or get a different product. Version 3 has a rechargeable battery, which I believe is superior to using regular AAA batteries, so I'd like to stay with version 3 unless this feedback problem is endemic.

Tri-ports are better!? Really?

Written By Kevin, St. Paul, MN on Friday, November 24, 2006

I've had my QC-3's for about a month now, and I have no complaints. They're by far the best Bose headphones I've owned (I have the tri-ports, the tri-port in-ear's, and the QC-2's)

Noise Reduction: Bar far the best noise-cancelling headphones out there (i've tried the Sony, Shure, Panasonic, Sennheiser, Sharper Image, and Brookstone versions)

Audio: The bass is very rich and full without being overpowering, the mid's are supported, and the high's are very crisp and clean... much better than the triports due mostly to the built-in audio amplifier.

Comfort: very light weight (4.5oz) combined with memory foam cushions means a very comfortable fit.

Features: rechargeable battery (20 hrs./charge), replaceable ear cushions and replaceable audio cord, along with wireless noise cancelling only add to the value of a great sounding product.

Definitely recommend!

Good sound deadening device

Written By takeeta, Massachusetts on Thursday, September 14, 2006

I purchased the Bose QuietComfort 3 specifically for noise abatement. It certainly does reduce ambient noise but does not eliminate it. You can still hear traffic, construction, etc however the headphones make the noise much more bearable. The noise sounds very far away. I could actually take a nap with heavy machinery noise next door.
They are very comfortable on the ear but they dont adjust well for a small person, I have to shift the headband backwards so they stay on properly.
All in all I am satisfied with them. I knew in advance that they did not eliminate all sound so I was not disappointed. It would be nice if I could find a way to eliminate all noise but maybe that is not possible.

Not Quite Bose High Standards

Written By Mike, Tampa Bay on Thursday, August 03, 2006

Let me start by saying I have just about every Bose product. The triport and Quiet Comfort 2 are great. I was excited when the QC 3's were introduced. After using them for about a week, I found them to have very little high end sound. They feel good on the head and come with a great little storage case. The quality is flawless. The price as with all Bose products is on the very high end of the scale. The triports sound better and the QC 2's feel better. There are some better and cheaper headphones at Crutchfield. The other thing I noticed is at higher volume levels the QC 3's have a tendency to distort. Just not worth the high price.

Triports are much, much better!!!

Written By Bobby, Mountain Top, PA on Friday, July 21, 2006

After having my triports break from a couple of years of use and abuse I thought I would upgrade to the new Quietcomfort 3's. I found that the Triports are a much better product for a number of reasons. Most notably, the QC3s are $200 more than the Triports, however the Triports sound much, much clearer, especially at high volumes while the QC3s get very distorted. I also believe that the Triports are more comfortable than the QC3s and stay on your head better. Finally, the Triports never run out of sound before your iPod, as opposed to the QC3s which have to be constantly recharged. The only advantage to the QC3s is the noise cancelling technology, however, the Triports also block a sufficient amount of noise. I have already returned my QC3s and bought a new pair of Triports.
