Great for portable use inside or outdoors.
With the Bose® SoundLink® Bluetooth® speaker III you can share your music with friends just about anywhere — and with legendary Bose® sound. This portable speaker creates a spacious soundfield that belies its small size, reproducing your favorite songs with richness and clarity. Just pair it with your Bluetooth-compatible smartphone or tablet and let the party start.
The SoundLink® III features curved edges and a thin profile so you can easily slip it into a bag or backpack. A silicone button panel resists dirt and dust, while the wraparound metal grille adds to its durability.
High quality, easy to transport, with great sound, this is a great speaker.
Pros: Size, Sound
I have both read about and listened to a lot of bluetooth portable speakers, and the Bose Soundliink III is the very best, in my opinion. It is such a full sounding speaker and has good volume. Sound is everything to me, so the larger size is not a big deal to me. The smaller speakers sound small.
Pros: Great balanced sound with bass. You get what you pay for.
Cons: A little pricey, but again, you get what you pay for.
It was easy to connect, tested with different music styles. i like it so far.
Easy to set up and use, and has the best sound I've heard in a portable speaker - rich and deep lows and clean highs. Very happy with the purchase!
Pros: Ease of set up and use, great build and sound quality
Cons: no remote - would like to have a remote to turn on and off the power
Easy set up, instant satisfaction.
I really like this little system. I had a much older Bose system and loved it so I finally upgraded to this one. I love the bluetooth feature. The sound isn't as crisp as I was hoping it to be compared to my older Bose speakers. It was a good buy. I'd say if you're debating between this one and the smaller one, go with this one it's just as portable and completely managed from a size perspective.
Pros: size, bluetooth, ease of use, sound is good
Cons: not as crisp in sound as i thought it would be
To buy any audio product, Bose is my first choice. We have Bose surround sound system, noise cancellation headphones for all family members, sound link and other Bose speakers.
Pros: Highly recommended
Cons: Maybe pricey?
I have always been impressed as well as appreciated the quality sound that Bose is able to produce in a small footprint. The SoundLink III is no exception ..it produces a rich and full sound with plenty of volume. On a recent trip to the mountains of Montana I threw it in my carry-on ...so portable and adds quality music to any environment. Even at a price tag of $299 I have ZERO buyers remorse! Had thought about purchasing a SoundTouch (wireless) but they are not bluetooth compatible and not nearly as portable as the SoundLink III ...besides with a smartphone I can listen to Pandora, Spotify, ITunes and much, much more!
Pros: Portable, powerful and pure sound! Easy to connect through Bluetooth (using an IPhone, Android, etc).
I would give it a 5 star except the blue tooth connection. if you connect a few devices, you have to reconnect a lot of time when you change from one device to the other. Other then that, it is very nice. More base and clarity than before.
Great product overall for what I needed for my space (~475 -500 SF studio)... but I don't think this is "heavy duty" enough for anyone with bigger apartments and looking for surrounding sound effect... however, this product is perfect for what it is designed for plus the look is ultra sleek
To start off, this is our second Soundlink from Bose, the first purchased 5-6 years ago. The sound is full and solid, not booming, just a perfect balance for HQ sound in a smaller setting. We use it for movies and streaming music off the laptop. The new SL3 seems to pair quicker which is a big plus for as we have 4 different laptops , PC & Mac and it pairs without issue. Battery life is fantastic, it will run the 12-14hrs or more, you lose track as it just keeps going. The new version does"t have a cover like the original, but since we really don't carry it allot, it's not an issue. The thicker profile with flat bottom is very nice and it stands solid on the table without movement. Sound level is very good, clean and plenty sound for large rooms at regular listening levels. We have had other BT speakers and while they all work, the Bose SL3 is at the top of the line up. The price, much like any good product or serve, you get what you pay for. Read reviews, but go see and listen to it in person, if you know someone with one, go listen to it. Judge if it's right for you.
Pros: Solid well built
This is my first Bose speaker and I am not impressed. The sound is okay if you want some background noise at a desk or in a doctor's office. It is not adequate for filling a room or multiple rooms with a sufficient volume of music while working out or cleaning the house. The quality of sound at upper levels is not impressive, especially for the price. It requires you to power-up the unit before connecting and listening to music each time. It would be nice to connect once and control the speaker from your device without having to walk over and turn it on. And, you have to reconnect each time!
Pros: small size
Cons: cost, insufficient volume and quality of sound, functionality (e.g., having to power-up and reconnect each time)
The sound is great.......when it works. I am thinking about returning it as aux is worthless.
Pros: good sound
Cons: aux doesn't work
Got this as a special Father's Day gift for my husband.....he was thrilled with it.
Pros: the portability makes it easy to bring outside and room to room, as needed
Cons: volume could be a bit louder
This has great sound quality and is easy to hook up to bluetooth devices. We love to bring it outside and listen to music.
Great sound. Easy connection.
I live in a fairly small NYC apartment and wanted to get good sound quality without the unit taking up a lot of space. The Soundlink III delivers on both fronts. Super easy to set up as well. It took about 2 minutes from opening the box to broadcasting music from my phone via bluetooth. It couldn't be much more simple. I highly recommend this product.
Pros: Very portable, extremely easy to set up, long battery life, and really good sound quality.
Cons: None that I've found so far.
Great Sound. Well Built. Shipped on time.
Pros: Sound quality.
I like many others in this list did an extensive amount of research. I went to big box stores to listen to others like the Pill XL and the Infinity One and this stood out to me as the clear winner. The Pill XL seemed to be able to get louder, but didn't have as much bass. The Infinity One sounded more boomy bass, a little more artificial than I cared for. It still doesn't compare to my tower speakers that I have with my receiver, but without the power and size behind it, it's not possible to duplicate.
My wife and are are using our iPhones and it's very simple to pair more than one device. I have had it now for more than a week and haven't run out of battery yet, but I haven't run it too long yet.
Overall I was looking for the best sound quality I could get and still be somewhat portable. Portability was second to sound quality. I'm Very pleased with this model and would highly recommend to others looking for quality of sound with portability.
Pros: Sound quality, simple to operate
Cons: A little boomy in the bass
Great sound. As portable as a book.
great sound & easy to pair with devices
Quality sound , easy set up... Very happy with purchase
Pros: Sound quality , easy set up
Quality sound , easy set up... Very happy with purchase
Pros: Sound quality , easy set up
Good sound quality and super ease of set up.
Pros: Nice design. Good sound quality. Solid.
Cons: Not cheap.
This was so easy to start using-charging, pairing and playing music was a breeze. The unit is attractive enough to sit in the living room and blend in. The sound quality is fantastic. I'm really happy I went with this and will get my money's worth.
I got the unit from the post office yesterday and charged it for more than 2 hours until the battery indicator went off. I started using it right then until late last night and again early this morning until now. In short, I've been using it for about 12 hours since the first charge. Looks like the battery stands up to it's specification with 2 more hours to go. I Like the sound quality. High-lows and mids is more balanced than its predecessor the SLII. More like the SL mini in sound quality but better and the difference becomes very obvious in larger room and in an open air. This is because it has a louder, bigger sound. The unit itself is simple and elegant and I like it. It's easy to operate and pair with Bluetooth devices. Overall, I like the sound quality and the physical appearance of my SLIII better than the SLII and SLmini. Worth the price. I could only wish it is lighter.
Pros: Good sound quality, easy to operate and pair with Bluetooth devices, elegant and sturdy, long playing hours.
Great sounding speaker. I love the bass that it produces. Great looking piece of equipment too. It easily connects to my wifi network. The Battery life is good.
Pros: Great Sounding. Ease of use. Battery life is good.
Cons: I have none yet
This speaker is exactly what I wanted, audiophile quality sound in a portable unit. The bass is very acceptable, not overwhelming but very balanced with the total spectrum of sound and the mid range and highs are very clear.
Pros: Sound quality Long battery life Ease of operation
Cons: Weight Lack of a handle for ease of carrying Weight
I think the unit that I was sent does not sound as good as those I tested in local stores. My unit becomes very distorted at medium level volume. It also does not sound as good as the mini unit I purchased locally as a last minute gift for someone.
btw: I am using the aux in so I was expecting nice sound
Pros: build quality
Cons: disappointed in sound qualityCrutchfield response on September 9, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Fantastic speaker. Great sound. Great battery life.
Pros: Battery life.
I've wanted one of these for awhile and finally bought one when the 3 came out. Had to return first one because the treble/high sounded muffled. Replacement sent sounded really nice but then I found out there is no carry case made for it, I like to take music out to the pier. Because of this, the size/shape seemed awkward and not convenient. I ended up returning it and am looking for something more portable that sounds good with good volume and battery.
Pros: Sound, battery
Cons: Size, shape & no carry case
It performs better than I expected. Hooks up easy. Didn't know if it would be loud enough. It's plenty capable of playing loud music and still sounding clear. Very pleased with it.
Pros: Great sound, ease of use, portable
Cons: None yet
This is an excellent speaker system. My wife loves it. Very good sound and portability.
Pros: good quality sounds
Last year, I purchased a smaller speaker, Bose SoundLink mini, and was very happy with it. On my last visit in the spring, I left it with my brother in Japan. Now I need another one for use at home and went with this newer version, SoundLink III. For about ten days after receiving it, it was working fine. Somehow, it became impossible to connect the speaker to any of my devices. When consulting with Crutchfield's tech support, it became apparent that the speaker's bluetooth was not functioning. Crutchfield offered to send me a replacement, which arrived promptly. (Thank you for that!). The new unit was working fine for the first couple of times, until tonight. This time around, the speaker connects to a bluetooth device but produces no sound! I did the "reset" thing both on the speaker and iPad. I also did the clearing of the bluetooth list on the speaker and iPad. When I use a Zooka speaker, it connects and produces the sound. With the Bose SL III, even though the bluetooth setting shows the Bose is connected, there is no sound coming out of the speaker. It is maddening. I am ready to return this speaker . . .
I have the B&W A7, (which is an absolute revelation), but it isn't portable, so I wanted something to bring to the beach, and hotels when I travel, since not having music on trips drives me crazy, and the in-room iHomes don't cut it. The sound quality is good, slightly boomy, but not very much. It is loud enough to enjoy music while lying on a towel up to about 8-10 feet away on a beach. Don't expect it to produce perfect sound in a small room, such as a bedroom, but that's not what it's made for. Great product for traveling, battery life is good, design is great, and connects to bluetooth in a matter of seconds. Would recommend.
This is one of the best bluetooth speaker on the market. We used to own the G-boom bluetooth speakers, which was heavy and cumbersome to use, but this speakers are Easy to use and has the proper bass and treble. The battery last long. So my major criteria to purchase this was to use on the patio, and the music was loud enough to be heard over the kids screaming. I would recommend this for anyone who needs this for outdoors as well parties.
Pros: Ease of use. Bluetooth connections are fast and simple. Remembers last 6 devices, so it can switch to different devices fast enough. Long lasting battery life. Sound is amazing.
Cons: No playback controls for music.
This is a great sounding speaker with a small footprint and a good battery life.
Pros: Great sound Good battery life
Cons: none so far
The soundlink II seems to have a fuller sound than the soundlink III. I have been using both for a while now and my guests ( at my house parties ) all agree. They all seem to pick out the soundlink II as their preference for Sound Quality. It makes me feel foolish to think that I was upgrading from the SL-II to the SL-III, and spend more money, when all the while I had the superior speaker. The only redeeming quality that the soundlink III has is the longer playing battery ( it's rated for 14 hours of replay time). The best I've gotten so far is about 12 hrs. I still love the sound...after all, it's still a BOSE.
Pros: A little longer playtime on the battery, and still sounds like a BOSE.
Cons: It doesn't have the sound of it's predecessor, THE BOSE SOUNDLINK II .......A much fuller sound.
Love my SoundLink Blue tooth Speaker, Bose never disappoints! Great sound and battery life from such a small speaker. If your looking for a portable speaker with great sound, this is the one you want. Don't let the price scare you off, we'll worth it!
Pros: Bose quality, great battery life, easy set up . Great portability and sound for smaller areas.
Cons: If you are looking for a portable speaker loud enough to fill a large room or large outdoor space, this is not for you.
sound is terrific. Easy to use. Easy to carry.
Pros: sound, ease of use
Great product. Excellent sound quality. Long battery life. Little pricey. Doesn't appear to work with the phone function of my iPhone. Works with music and video functions on my iPhone.
Pros: Sound quality. Battery life.
Cons: Cost. Heavy. Needs handle.
This small speaker delivers great range of sound from crisp to heavy bass.
Cons: I wish it is even smaller.
After hearing my friend SoundLink Mini I was super impressed with the clarity and the loudness. I purchased it hoping the more expensive SoundLink 3 was louder, because of its size. It was in fact louder but not proportionally. No regrets purchasing it, but probably would have been just as happy with the mini and its lower price.
Pros: Clarity, Loudness, battery backup
Cons: price, but still worth it
Great sound...Great product...Very fast delivery by Crutchfield....Highly recommend
The Bose SoundLink III is the perfect choice for sound enthusiasts that want something small, portable and pleasing to the ear. The setup is simple, and it's sound is powerful enough to be heard easily in a small outdoor area - exactly what I was looking for.
Pros: - Beautiful design - Great sound - Light and portable
Cons: - Bass is not great, but it does the job - A little on the expensive side (as expected by Bose)
Beautiful Sound, Easy to Use!
Pros: Ease of use Sound
Great sound, easy to use
Pros: Great sound, easy to use
Cons: A little heavy
Very satisfactory. Sounds good, works great. If cost is not an issue, this is the one you want.
Pros: Delivers on what you buy a speaker like this to do.
Very easy setup and sounds very good when in low volume. Extremely good finish in term of craftsmanship. Good range in reception. Sound very unreal when in high volume. not worth the price.
Upgraded from Soundlink 2. Hard to tell the sound difference but the battery life has majorly improved. Miss the cover cover that came with the Soundlink 2. In all honesty for the money the Soundlink mini is the way to go. Of all I have owned that is the best sounding and way smaller.
This is not a 5 star speaker I'm afraid. The quality of construction appears excellent but the sound isn't nearly as powerful, clean, or loud as expected. Side by side with my friend's original soundlink I it was actually less loud (maybe it needs to break in?) and didn't offer sound of any better discernible quality. Outside at a park, we couldn't hear it at max volume further than 20 feet away.
Indoors, an up against a wall as Bose recommends, the sound is impressive in a small room, but in a medium or large room it's easily washed out. It appears the unit begins severely restricting its sound output to prevent distortion as you crank up the volume.
Clarity and detail seems lacking though I found this true of all the speakers this size that I sampled. By the way, I found the Sony BTX500 is probably the closest competitor in terms of sound quality and size, after my extensive search. I'll likely return or sell online for something more powerful asap. Currently, there aren't many options better than this Bose at this size though. One great asset is that it is truly excellently portable with its great battery life and 3lb weight. So it not the end all, be all, but its still a great quality piece.
Hope this helps!
Pros: Portability, build quality, known brand, good but not great sound
Cons: Sounds constrained at high volume, Cant reach very high volumes, lacks speakerphone, alarm and other neat features competitors offer
great sound and bass! debated between the sound link ll and sound link lll .. hands down if u want more bass and a clearer sound go with the sound link lll.. no regrets so far spendin extra $$ for this speaker because it was brand new and it sounds great! highly recommended.. i beleive its the best sounding portable speaker out there.

Bluetooth (A2DP) Technology: The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III Digital Music System offers built-in Bluetooth (A2DP) Technology which lets you wirelessly connect with many Bluetooth enabled devices; such as your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, or computer/laptop. The system has a wireless range of approximately 30'.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III system.
Proprietary Bose Speaker Technology: Proprietary speaker technologies deliver your music in all its clarity with robust sound unusual for a compact, wireless speaker. Its unique driver configuration allows the small, lightweight speaker to reproduce deep, full sound. Four drivers and two passive radiators provide full-spectrum audio and clarity at any listening level. Improvements in digital signal processing (DSP) let you share your music louder than the previous version of the SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker.
Note: The speaker is designed to sound best when placed on a shelf, counter, desk, or tabletop that is 24-48" high. For best bass response, the speaker should be placed near a wall; bass response decreases as the speaker is placed closer to the center of a room.
Aux Input: The SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III has a rear-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting a external portable audio source other than your Bluetooth-enabled device.
Micro-USB Connector: The unit's micro-USB (type-B) port is designed for downloadable software updates that may be available in the future. By registering this product, you will automatically be notified of any necessary updates.
Portable Design: The speaker easily slips right into a bag or backpack. The silicone button panel protects it from dirt and dust, while a wraparound metal grille adds to its durability and resists fingerprints.
Rechargeable Battery: The SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III is powered by a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. A fully charged battery gives you up to 14 hours of continuous playing time in most situations. An empty battery usually takes 2 to 3 hours to charge. The battery light shows Green when the battery is fully charged, Yellow indicates a medium, and Red means the battery needs charging.
Note: When the SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III is unplugged and unused for more than 14 days, it enters battery protection mode to preserve battery power.
AC Power Adapter + Optional Car Charger: The included AC power adapter can be used to charge the integrated battery and power the unit. The compact power adapter folds flat to fit easily in a bag, ideal for extended trips. And optional 12V car charger (018SNDCHGR, sold separately) is also available.

Thank to Greg T and Mike Y for the honesty and to the ground advice.Keep up the excellent work!! [ Jorge A. Nov 25, 2014 ]
just 1 unit is good enough.. To be honest with you.. my friend's Sonos sounds better than my Bose :( [ mike Nov 25, 2014 ]
One sounds fine. Even with two you will not get true stereo sound with separation, just the same "mono" sound tracks from two sources. Likely would sound good, but not worth the extra $300 in my humble opinion. [ GREG Nov 25, 2014 ]
No, each Bose stereo unit only connects to 1 other source device. You are not able to connect 1 smartphone to 2 Bose units. [ Ronald Nov 25, 2014 ]
You get rich stereo sound from one unit, and the sound quality is clear at higher volumes. We use it indoors and outdoors. As far as connecting two units to one phone, I don't believe so, but I'm not 100% positive. [ Suzanne Nov 25, 2014 ]
You will get stereo sound with 1 unit You can run 2 speakers off of 1 phone [ Matthew Nov 25, 2014 ]
I don't know about using two or how to connect. I can say that to me the Soundlink sounds excellent using just the one unit. [ Bobby Nov 25, 2014 ]
I find the styling of the III completely acceptable, but ultimately looking for true portability at a lower price point. Deck, tailgate, camping...always on the go. Thanks for the great input Greg! [ Josh Aug 26, 2014 ]
The product weighs 3 lbs but to us, VERY portable. We use it on the road to jam out our mp3 player at camp sites & motel joints. Great sound. Size is not a problem for us. [ GARY Aug 25, 2014 ]
Thanks! [ Josh Aug 25, 2014 ]
WEIGHT: 3.03 lbs (1.37 kg) DIMENSIONS: 5.1"H x 9.6"W x 1.9"D It is easy to transport, but if you are truly seeking a very portable model, the Mini model is considerably smaller and handier. Of course there are trade-offs in my mind with the sound and volume output of going smaller, but the Mini is less expensive. Go with what you are seeking in sound and what best fits your budget. The III model is a very good unit in my humble opinion, and I have been accused of being somewhat particular (and peculiar). The Soundlink II and the Mini have been judged by many as being more stylish. [ GREG Aug 25, 2014 ]
