This was our third Bose sound docks itch this one replacing our original first dock purchased about 5 years ago. The sound is outstanding. For a while, you had to wiggle the iPod to get it to work with only using the remote then after a while went out completely. Bose may need to make this area a little sturdier. Still love the product and hope this one last longer.
Pros: Great sound
I received what I expected. Bose quality! Great sound from a little package. The remote is easy to work using my I touch. In short Great Bang for your buck.
Pros: Easy to operate and transport.
Cons: I should of bought this unit a long time ago
Great sound from a small package. Purchased as gift for our daughter who also has a Sony portable docking station. Bose sound quality noticeably better than the Sony.
Pros: Bose quality and Crutchfield service, what's not to like!
Cons: iPhone 4S will not dock unless phone case is removed, but minor issue and not enough to affect rating.
I am pleased with everything! Ordering was easy and clear. Delivery was as expected and my Bose Iphone speaker was packed securely, arrived without damage. I love my speaker. The sound is nothing less than I would expect from Bose. Definitely a very pleased customer.
The Bose Sound Dock Series II packs a nice, powerful sound from a small, easily transported system. It is easy to use and has a nice look as well. Also, ordered the unit one evening, and it was waiting for me when I got home from work the next day!! Very helpful guidance from the Crutchfield service department.
Very satisfied with the product, the service, ease of payment and the speed of delivery. Product was everything I expected and more.
The sound that comes off the Bose unit is pretty darn good. The sound is not flat and somewhat dimensional. I'm always eager to listen to my Bose, especially after listening to iPod using my earbuds. The very high tones appear a tiny bit muted, but the rest of the musical scale comes across quite well.
Excellent product, sound and appearance
Pros: The Bose name
beats the couple of docking stations that i had previously purchased elsewhere by far. crisp quality sound at a reasonable price.
Overall, a great product. I did however get this one confused with the portable version. Which is why this is a 4 star rating instead of 5.
Pros: Quality Sound. Fast shipping. Great Price.
Cons: No rechargeable battery. Not portable.
Excellent product to listen to the music on my iPhone. Sound is clear and crisp even when the sound is on high.
Great item. Super fast delivery! Would buy from Crutchfield again
Terrific sound! I am very pleased!
Pros: Great Sound
The price and performance for this Bose product is excellent. I was unsure about whether I should get this or the Bluetooth version and went for this one. Its obviously not intended to be portable but is still easy to move it and plug it somewhere else if necessary. All in all, excellent sound - very pleased.
Pros: Great sound.
Love the Bose SoundDock! This one replaces one that I wore out.
Love the sound
Pros: the sound is perfect, great size
Cons: My iPod is about eight years old so the Bose remote won't advance from one song to the next. Everything else works great.
Worked great nice sound!
Pros: Ease of use.
Cons: Can't think of any.
Bose is known for amazing sound in a small package, as well as designing simplicity and ease of use into their products. The sound dock is a classic example. Simply plug it in, turn it on, and enjoy. The iPhone has replaced every other audio source in my home, and the Bose is the perfect companion for a great, portable system.
Pros: Charges my iPhone while docked on it. Sounds amazing. Simple to operate.
Cons: Need an adaptor to dock iPhone 5. Phone case must be removed or modified to dock a device on the Bose.
This is everything I had hoped it would be, amazing sound....just what you would expect from Bose
Pros: The size is wonderful, I got the Silver and it just blends into any surrounding
Beautiful sound, like BUTTER.... Works right out of the box. Play and go.
Pros: Real easy to use, already set up. Plug and play.
I love this product. I use it with my iPod, and iPhone and the sound is incredible with each device. The speaker fills my room with beautiful fidelity. Each note is clear and packs a lot of punch.
The product is exactly what you'd expect from Bose. Small package, well made, and great sound. It fits easily in the bathroom, on a night stand, or in the kitchen. The sound quality is great and the remote easily handles all basic functions. There's only a few minor improvements that would be nice, but certainly not enough to prevent purchasing the device: no controls on the device itself (except volume), all operations are through the remote or IPOD; the power cord contains an inline converter box that is somewhat bulky. Typically the box is on the end that plugs into the wall or internal to the device.
Pros: Small package, great sound, excellent build quality.
Cons: No controls on device except volume (remote only operation), power cord contains an inline power converter box (drops power from household voltage down to that required for Docking station). Won't run off battery power.
Great sound in a small package. Handy to play and recharge my IPOD. Love it!
The title says it all! No distortion... No matter how loud you enjoy your music and the clarity is amazing! This is my second unit.... Needless to say my brother will not borrow this one:)
Pros: Clarity, no distortion, exceed your expectations product
Pros: Great sound, attractive shape, good size.
Cons: None so far.
Elegante y compacto
Elegant and compact
Cons:Crutchfield response on October 3, 2012 Translation provided by Crutchfield's Spanish Sales & Support team. Visit our new Spanish-language site at www.crutchfieldenespanol.com:
I'm not sure you can ever go wrong with a Bose. I was only a little disappointed that this couldn't be used with a battery pack for more portability but after reading other sounddock specs it doesn't sound like any battery pack would last more than 6 or 8 hours (at least on a high end sounddock). The only other thing that I didn't like was there was no volume indicator. Other than that I love listening to my music on the Bose SoundSock II.
Pros: Great sound Portable enough to carry to a different location
Cons: No batter pack No volume indicator
I bought this to use with my ipod nano in a room where I work. There was no problem setting it up or getting the nano to dock. The sound is good but I wouldn't say GREAT. I didn't expect GREAT from a small unit like this. I have noticed that some of the music I've recorded sounds better than other tunes .. that wouldn't be the Bose's fault but maybe mine or the computer's fault I've recorded the music from. Since I've never used or heard music from another brand of soundock I can't compare the sound. But for the $249, I'm very happy with the unit.
Pros: Simple and easy to use
I really like this system. I am reviewing it to let potential buyers know that although I really like this unit it doesn't have the best sound. It sounds good but not great. I purchased this along with the Portable Bose battery run docking system and their remotes work with each other and I like that. I use the plugged in version for our bedroom and the portable one I use for the bathroom and taking it up to our cottage. I do recommend this system even if the sound isn't the best.
Pros: small, has remote, compatibility with my other Bose portable ipod dock
Cons: sound isn't the best but still good
The Sound is great. I am very please with this product.
Love it! Received it as a Christmas gift. Sound is awesome, like all Bose products, easy to use, lightweight and easy to carry from room to room if/when needed.
The SoundDock Series II delivers as expected. Bass is full and clear, even though the unit is small. User controls are essentially the iProduct's organic controls, with the added bonus of a remote, since it's on the dock. The actual dock is really the only drawback--it doesn't allow iPhones with rubberized cases to dock, so we must remove the bottom.
Pros: Expected Bose sound
Cons: Dock connection has a very low tolerance, which prevents some iPhones to connect due to covers.
First Bose buyer and the power of the sound come out from this tiny dock is UNBELIEVABLE!
Pros: great sound
Cons: will be great if was working with battery
The Bose SoundDock series 2 Digital Music System is perfect because the bass great sound that's perfect for parties, etc...
After having two Altec Lancing Portable Players die on me after less than one year each, I decided to go with the Bose SoundDock Series II this time around. Frankly, I must say I am a little bit disappointed in the sound quality. Very little treble and too much bass with no way to adjust either. Also, the Docking portion of the player is made out of cheap plastic and I worry about it breaking off if I have to move the player from one room to the other. I would not purchase this system again...
It is awesome! The sound quality is great, and I'm pleased with my purchase.
This sound dock was the perfect gift. The sound is what you expect from Bose. I
was totally satisfied with my purchase. Then I found the Bose radio app" Bose
am/fm" this made this purchase even better.
Received this for Christmas. Like having a mobile speaker system for my mobile ipod.
Thought it was not going to work as my ipod was in a plastic case. When I nested the
ipod into the Bose, it didn't completely connect. Of course, my daughter had to figure this
out. Regardless, the system works as expected, the sound is great and I just love the
remote control. Like this Christmas Gift!
What a fabulous product. Appearance and sound quality just what one would expect
from Bose. However, what a disappointment the little remote is. Limited functions and
cheaply put together. not the sort of thing to leave out in public view.
An outstanding piece of equipment. The music is outstanding, especially when you
consider it is coming from my Ipod. A nice bonus is the ability to use it to output sound
from other sources - like my little TV, with the very little speakers.
While the price might be a little high, it is such good quality, it is worth it.
I am so happy I finally brought this product. I was always trying to save money and would buy less expensive mps players. They would always break by the years end so this time I thought I am just going to spend the money and am I glad I did! This system is amazing, I have not "heard" my music for years now I can hear every instrument clear clean beautiful music, taking up no space, I can take it anywhere and have sound as good as any big speakers. If you are thinking about getting this, just spend the money it is totally worth it. It is easy to use, charges the ipod and sounds like music should sound.
I bought this for my friend's bday, and this thing is so clonky and big, the sound is seriously in all honesty ALRIGHT at best...
I went ahead and returned it because he didn't like it, and got him a portable speaker for under half the price, and he loved it! the sound from that little thing is amazing, plus it's "PORTABLE", with a zip up case.
great style, sound, etc like all the other Bose items we have
Bose Sound dock exceedes our expectations! Crystal clear with the Nano Ipod. Can hear throughout my 2300 sq ft house. Perfect for the pool area too! Crutchfield delivered in time for Christmas too. Very happy with product and service. Only negative would be the price...about $75 too high, but it is what Bose commands.
I expected so much more from this product. Big price for an ok sound. It sounds dull, the highs are distorted and the bass is nonexistent. The dock is also very flimsy. Putting in my ipod touch I felt like if I pushed too hard it would snap off. Also, the small white dock that came with my ipod didn't fit so I was worried about it getting bumped and messing up my connection to my ipod. Returned it today and went with what I was going to get in the first place but changed my mind in the store, the Kicker iKick 500. The Kicker is great!!! My dock fits so its nice and snug, the bass and highs are excellent!!! The sound is 100% better in every way!!! Even with the Bose on sale, still saved $124 and got a better product.
Let me start off saying that I have never been totally against BOSE products. To me I don't care who makes it. If it sounds good then I'm all for it. I have had many years with top notch car audio systems home theater systems etc. Over the years I feel that I have trained my ears well for what sounds good and what doesn't. I have a pair of BOSE headphones that I use all the time and would not trade them for anything. They sound great. This BOSE sound dock has ok sound at best. BOSE has been using paper cone drivers for years and they hardly ever use tweeters in any of their speakers. I have also yet to see anything made by BOSE where they actually tell what kind of frequency response their speakers have. The battery power is cool and this unit is compact. (If it wasn't for that then I would have given it one star). I did get a Kicker ik500 after returning the BOSE sounddock. Not only is the price more than half of what the sound dock is but it sounds 20x's better. Deeper bass, higher highs, and the volume blow's away the sounddock. I wouldn't recommend any BOSE speakers, or this dock to anyone.
We purchased it and couldn't be happier using it with the iTouch. The Bose sound is great (as usual) and can be heard all through a 2000 sq ft house even at low volumes and outside too. Crutchfield as usual your support and customer service is great!
Great Bose Product Written By LandOfOz, Kansas on Friday, June 25, 2010
One year later update, we are still very happy with this BOSE product using with the iTouch. The Bose sound is great and can still be heard all through a 2000 sq ft house even at low volumes. We have no regrets. Crutchfield as usual your support and customer sevice is the greatest!!
I purchaed this item for use in my office with my Ipod Touch. It works great
and the sound is fantastic. Another great item from Bose. I couldn't be
I bought this for my girlfriend as a birthday present. She really needed to come into the 21st century with her electronics. She loves it, so do I. I'm going to purchase one for myself.
The most impressive feature of this SoundDock is the volume. I was skeptical about the range from a small piece of equipment. But it is more than enough to fill any room. The remote works flawlessly as well. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.
The Bose SoundDock II is a quality product which produces great sound. I've used several other speakers, but this is by far the best.
You can't go wrong with a Bose.
I bought this for my wife. She loves it. Excellent sound quality from such a small unit. Some of the controls/buttons on the remote are a little ambiguous. You really only need the volume, skip and on/off anyway. The dock portion is a little flimsy as mentioned in previous reviews. I'm not sure if this is by design or just poor quality. I would buy this product again regardless, as Bose sound is supreme.
It doesn't work with 4th generation (20 or 40mg) iPods and Bose confirms this. It will play on the iPod's own battery power. But you can't control either the buttons on the iPod or the remote control, and, it doesn't charge the iPod. I called Bose and they said my only hope was to find an older Sounddock model before 2007.

This system works great. Small with signature Bose quality sound.
I purchased this product and returned it less than a week afterward. I needed a small device to plug in my iPhone 3G, both for charging and playing music.
Some of the pros and cons:
1. the sound quality was crisp even though the highest sound volume was lower than I expected.
1. Every time I plugged in the iPhone, the iPhone complained that this is not a supported device. It didn't seem to affect the iPhone though since it was charging and playing the music normally.
2. The device was very flimsy and very unlike my other Bose system (though my other system is 6 times the price). I still expected a sturdy and quality product. For example, the plastic base where the iphone and the speakers are mounted is shaky and basically attached using 2-3 small screws. I could have easily accidentally broken it.
3. For this price, it wasn't worth it. I'm looking at finding another device, even one that wouldn't necessarily charge the iPhone but rather use a jack-in to play the music.
Overview: The Bose SoundDock II is a powered desktop speaker system designed for the Apple iPod digital music player and Apple iPhone. The iPod is docked directly to the unit, allowing you to easily play your music files.
Proprietary Acoustic Design: The system's patented Waveguide Speaker Technology and powerful neodymium speakers provide efficient and high quality audio reproduction.
iPod Dock: The SoundDock II features a slot in the front of the unit with the proprietary iPod dock connector. The SoundDock II is "Made for iPod/iPhone compatible" and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (as of 9/24/2014).
|Apple Device||Generation||Tested Version||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video Output||Remote||iPod/iPhone||Song/Artist Text||Track Information|
- *Requires the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter (sold separately) in order to dock with this system.
- **Due to its size and Lightning-connector, the iPad 4/air/mini requires the Apple Lightning to 30-pin cable (sold separately) in order to dock with this system.
- ***Even though the iPad 1/2/3 have the 30-pin connector, they are too big to seat in the speaker's integrated dock. You will need one of Cable Jive's 30-pin dock extender cables (sold separately) to connect these devices.
- The iPhone 6+ and all iPad models are too large to seat in the iPod/iPhone dock station.
- Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.
Airplane Mode (for iPhone): In the event of audio interference when you have your iPhone docked, set iPhone to Airplane Mode. You will not be able to receive phone calls in Airplane Mode.
iPod Charger: The SoundDock II provides power to charge your iPod/iPhone during operation. iPod/iPhone charging is suspended when the unit is turned off.
Controls: The only controls on the speaker system are for volume, up and down. A wireless remote control is also included which offers basic iPod controls; volume up/down, skip forward/backward, search forward/backward within the song, play/pause, Playlist select and off. The controls on the iPod also work while connected to he SoundDock II. The SoundDock II will return to the last volume setting used when turned on.
Note: The SoundDock II volume controls must be used because the iPod's volume control only affects the headphone output of your iPod when docked.
Aux Input: The SoundDock II has a rear-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting a external portable audio source other than your iPod.
Using Headphones: The SoundDock II does not feature a headphone output. While docked to the system, the headphone output on your iPod can be used. Since the headphone output on the iPod is independent of the Dock connector both the SoundDock II and headphones can be used simultaneously, with independent volume control.
Power Supply: The unit is powered by the supplied AC adapter only. It does not operate on battery power. The SoundDock II provides power to charge your iPod even if the speaker system is off.
Non-Slip Feet: The bottom of the SoundDock II features six surface-gripping rubber pads to provide a stable platform on most surfaces.
