Enjoy Internet radio, Pandora® and your digital music library with just the touch of a button. The SoundTouch™ 20 Wi-Fi® music system connects to your home network and delivers rich, room-filling sound from its built-in speakers. The system comes with Internet radio and popular music services built in, so you'll have a world of music conveniently available at your fingertips.
The free SoundTouch™ app from Bose® is the key. It gives you easy control of the music using your smartphone or tablet of choice. The app lets you assign up to six presets from your favorite sources. Presets can be just about anything you want — an Internet radio station, a Pandora® station, a playlist from your own music library, or a favorite artist. Plus, you can use the app to play music from additional stations or services not saved in your presets.
Don't have your smartphone handy? No problem. You can access all six presets either with the included remote, or simply by using the control buttons on top of the SoundTouch™ 20.
The SoundTouch™ 20 is AirPlay-compatible, so you can wirelessly stream from your iPhone®, iPod touch®, or iPad®. Enjoy great sound from your favorite music app, a collection of tunes from your library, video soundtrack or game app sound effects. You can also stream music from your laptop or desktop computer's iTunes® library.
The SoundTouch™ app for tablet or smartphone makes control simple.
Add more SoundTouch™ systems to create a wireless multi-room audio system that's simple to use. You can play the same music simultaneously throughout your home, or have each SoundTouch™ system play different music from a different source.
I already own the Soundtouch 30 so I kind of knew what I was getting. you really can't go wrong with a Bose product ànd this device is no different!
Pros: Great sound
If you buy this system you will be disaapointed. I have the SoundTouch 20 and the Lifesytle 535. I bought them so I could listen to music via Wifi throughout the house. I am very disappointed. The SoundTouch has only 5 preset stations and the phone app does not allow for a user to search for other Pandora stations. You can only do that using the application on your desktop. The combined system cannot stream music from Spotify, Beats or ANY other streaming music system other than Pandora. The Soundtouch and Lifestyle system cannot connect using Airplay. I can only airplay to the SoundTouch but not both systems at once. Not being able to using Airplay means that I cannot use my phone to play my music in my house. You can only connect to one ITunes music library; this is a serious flaw because the rest of your family cannot access their music. We had to move all the kids music to my wife's iTunes account. When I finally connected to the music library, I had to scroll though the names in an alphabetical order because there is no search for feature. If you have a large music library and you want to find a song or artist you need to scroll one page at a time until you finally get to the name. The connection to my router did not work. I had to have the Bose installers out to my house three times. There is nothing remotely cutting edge about Bose.
Pros: decent sound
Cons: hard to use with other Bose systems
Since we have poor FM reception here, many of the Philly stations I used to listen to were out of reach. The Bose SoundTouch 20 has filled the void. It was easy to set up by following the Bose instructions; the presets are easily interchangeable; and the sound is even better than expected from such a small unit. While it is not labeled as Bose "Portable" model, it is easily moved from room to room. Did I mention the sound is great? The depth of field is especially noteworthy considering it's size. An on-line HD channel sounds terrific! Very pleased with this purchase and Crutchfield's typical service and delivery.
Pros: Sound quality, portability, ease of set up and use, handy remote
Cons: None so far
Super easy for this tech phobic to set up, only took about 15 minutes. Bose instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Did my research and the sound is truly awesome---the best out there for the size of the system.
Pros: Sound quality, ease of set up, preset buttons and remote are a real plus, size and handle "groove" make it easy to move from room to room.
Fantastic and easy except for a major fault in that there is no earphone jack on any of the Soundtouch devices. One of us listens to internet radio all night. Now we both have to listen or go back to keeping the phone or tablet by the bed. Disappointing.
Pros: Easy set up _ a little learning curve but very doable to control from all of our phones, computers, tablets etc. great sound of course.
Cons: No headphone jack. Only 6 presets...
I rarely offer product reviews because so few products meet my expectations. The Bose SoundTouch 20 is an exception. I had it set up in a matter of minutes connected to my Pandora account, Windows media library, and my favorite radio stations with wonderful Bose sound quality. I live in the country so getting over the air FM comes with lots of static and fade. Listening via the Internet along with streaming of my 250+ CD library was the perfect solution. Having Pandora channels as well makes this a no brainer. Like another of the reviewers one of my favorite FM channels was not available but was soon added after I made the request on vtuner.com
I considered the Sonos system but the Bose won out since it also includes an IR remote which is handy when the smartphone is not available and the PC is in another room. The Sonos system requires a smartphone or PC control which is not always convenient in my listening location.
Pros: Great Bose sound quality, easy setup, convenient remote.
Cons: It's hardly a con but I soon realized that the 6 presets on the remote quickly fill up. It's easy to change them but having more presets would be nice.
When I saw the Bose SoundTouch advertised, I neglected to follow my usual practice of reading reviews before purchasing electronics and raced out to the local store and bough the SoundTouch20. Set up is very simple and once set up, the sound is up to Bose standards. The problem is that Pandora seems to be the only service available for the SoundTouch, and if one wants to connect to an internet radio station, s/he is limited to those in the VTuner roster of stations. And sadly, Vtuner's offerings are limited. My favorite station is MVY radio - Martha's Vineyard. No luck. I also like to listen to several specialized NPR stations - no luck. As a former faculty member at Oregon State University, I like their station - no luck. And no access to Sirius/XM, Live365, or Spotify. I spoke with the Bose reps and they assured me they are working on all these things. They suggested I contact Vtuner and ask them to add stations. I did - and alas, no reply. Guess I'll stick with my Grace Mondo. Sound is not the greatest, but what good is great sound if one can't get the station one likes.
Pros: Great sound and very easy set up
Cons: Terribly limited listening options and no prospects for improvements.

I have no I phone but do listen to my play list from my I pad using air play and it works very well. [ BETTY May 27, 2014 ]
Awesome . Thanks! [ Branon Mar 10, 2014 ]
Yes, the recent update; Feb. 13, 2014, support streaming from NAS. [ Kenji Mar 10, 2014 ]
It would be even better to be able to plug in headphones. We bought 3 units to use throughout the house. Once it is set up with our favorite stations we control it with the remote or controls on the unit. We did not want to need multiple appliances in the bedroom at night. Could not have taken much more to add a headset jack. Almost all audio equipment comes with it. [ Thomas Dec 31, 2013 ]
There is no headphone jack. It's not designed with that in mind. Since most of the control is done with either a PC/Mac or smartphone it's better to use the headphone capabilities of that device as the source. [ Gary Dec 30, 2013 ]
There does not appear to be any way... What a huge oversite. We have talked to 2 people at customwr service at Bose and they seem surprised we asked. Bose is, after all, known for it's speakers sovevidently they did not think we would want to use earphones! One of us listens to satellite radio all night - the other does mot want to. Bose suggested we keep a phone or tablet by the bed _ which was exactly what we were doing before we bought the Soundtouch - so we are back to that at night. Very disappointing.
