Display overlay helps when backing up

Clarion's CC510 rear view camera shows you clearly what's behind you as you're backing up, and adds a unique touch — colored guide lines on the picture help you judge how much space you've got. When you see an object at the green lines at the top of the picture, you've got plenty of room. You'll exercise caution as the object passes through the yellow and orange lines, and then stop when it gets to the red lines.

Compact, waterproof, hardware included

This tiny camera comes with all the wiring and hardware you'll need to install it. It'll fit in almost any location you pick, even many license plate frames. The 31.5-foot cable includes a composite video connector that'll hook up to almost any car stereo with a screen.

Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you. It is not intended as a replacement for your mirrors.

  • rear-view camera with standard composite (RCA) video cable

Great camera

Written by: joey196 from Kaufman, TX on January 21, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little back up camera. Easy to install and has a very good image. Easy to adjust brightness and good low light performance. Highly recommended. It only took about an hour and a half to install in my 2000 F350. Fabricated a mounting bracket using the license plate bolts and hitching the trailer by myself is now a breeze.

Pros: Easy to install. Great image. Low cost.

Cons: None

Clarion CC510

Written by: Rich from Palmyra, Virginia on January 13, 2016

I was pleasantly surprised how clear and sharp the image is. During low light conditions (as in my driveway), I can easily see as if the area behind my truck had night lighting/lamp posts. All in all, a great quality piece and above average images for the price.

Pros: Excellent image day or night

Cons: None.

Great little cam

Written by: Robert S from Nevada on January 7, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The camera works great and tri-color guide lines are really handy. I had mine professionally installed on my 2004 F-150 and they ended up mounting it to the license plate. If I had known that up front I'd have bought a camera with a license plate mount, but now that it's installed I have no complaints.

Pros: Clear image, wide angle of view. Tri-color guide lines.

Cons:

Nice camera

Written by: Duke from North Carolina on January 3, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this camera to put in my 05 Avalanche. The camera was very easy to hook up and I really like it now that I have one. I'm not sure how I did without it for so long. I think that one could be found cheaper and it's not as customizable as some I have seen. With the brackets that came with the camera it didn't allow for many options in my particular application, or at least nothing I was able to come up with. The camera itself is great and works as it should overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Easy to install, nice picture

Cons: One could probably find something a little cheaper that is just as good, not as customizable, with included brackets, as it could be.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very easy install in my Jeep with the new Pioneer head I purchased with this camera. Works great and love the warning markers. They are actually very accurate when the unit is installed correctly.

Pros: Easy install, good resolution

Cons: none - buy it!

Careful if camera not centered!

Written by: SteveG from Massachusetts on December 16, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The camera itself is great. BUT I got it with a Pioneer AVIC receiver, which has adjustable parking lines. The clarion puts out parking lines and you can't suppress or adjust them! This means that if the camera isn't centered on your trunk, the lines will be "misaligned", and you can't turn them off and fix it using the head-unit (the pioneer has complete adjustability of its own parking lines). So this really isn't the ideal camera for a head unit like this, unless you're going to mount it centered.

Pros: Note that it's a great design otherwise. The wiring is "split" into 2 so that the sensor end (where you have to go through a hole somewhere to get inside the trunk) has a nice and small connector. That's great. Camera has a nice wide view, and is very good even in very little light too.

Cons: Parking lines are NOT adjustable and you can't turn them off. This is a problem if you can't mount the camera in the center of your trunk.

Clarion CC510 Car Cam

Written by: Curtis from California on August 28, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Would of liked to post a picture of the product. I mounted this unit on my 2005 Mustang just over my lic plate. Camera has a little bit of a fisheye like most I have seen. It has some colored guide lines to help with range. Day and night both has a very clear picture. Night time your backup lights should be all it needs to give you light required for a good image. You have a hot (12V), ground and video connector. Unit is much smaller that I was thinking it would be so it is hidden well. I think it would of been easy to test and run the line if it was like the manual and had a plug in the cable. Other than that and if you are ready to do a finish up on the wiring it is a great camera. I also like that it did not display the name on the top of the camera.

Pros: Small, Good day and night Video

Cons: No plugs so it is wired from camera to display and power. Manual shows a plug so you can drill a small hole and this is not the case.

Love it! Centered on rear of truck over trailer hitch. Can even see top of ball in camera and still have a great view of everything else behind me. Don't know about the night vision as I have a flood light connected to my backup lights - seeing behind me at night is no problem with that.

Pros: Wide angle field of view , Distance to object lines on screen

Cons: None that I've found

Compact size and very good picture resolution. I wish it had a sideways mounting feature though.

Pros: Built in distance guide lines and nice wide viewing angle.

Cons: Instruction sheet did not state anywhere that the white arrow on the top HAS to be facing upward. If you don't the picture displayed on the screen will appear incorrectly. I suggest adding a feature to allow for side mount or angled mounting.

Great Camera, Love the Markers

Written by: Raymond from Montana on March 25, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This camera provides and exceptional and wide angle view. The markings are GREAT! An added benefit of the markings is that they make it easier to line up in parking spaces or to park against a curb with proper alignment. That was an unexpected plus. The wires had plenty of length to reach my stereo (2007 Yukon Denali).

Pros: Great picture, wide angle, markings are awesome.

Cons: No cons.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install took 4hrs running the line from the head unit, through all the trim panels and into the back liftgate of our 07 Expedition. 1st time doinng it so not bad at all. Everything hooked right up and worked as described. Only reason for 4 stars is the picture quality. Could be better, a little to grainy for the price and time to put it in. In this day and age it should be HD quality. But still deserves 4 stars because everything is working as it should

Pros: Plug and play if you have the time to DIY

Cons: Not HD Quality picture

Nice camera. It is a little grainy leaving at O:dark thirty with just my reverse lights on the truck, but not bad. Takes a little wire to wire in to the back up switch ( I try to do a clean install). Does what it is supposed to do. Love being able to see behind my big truck while backing up!

Pros: Long wire-fit my F350 crew cab long bed with wire to spare.

Cons: A little grainy in dark.

Great Camera

Written by: TR from Raleigh, NC on March 6, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great camera, but a tad grainy (reason for 4 stars). Highly recommend wrapping the cable in plastic insulation to protect the cable as it is routed along the frame (near the main harness) of my double cab Tacoma. Works great with the Clarion CAU001 license plate bracket! Works well with my Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX as a backup camera or a monitoring camera. Back up assist lines are very helpful and accurate.

Pros: Length of cable, installation instructions helpful, price, backup assist lines, wide angle view!!

Cons: A tad grainy

Very good rear view camera for the price, compared to other models and I like the fact it has the warning line indicators too.

Pros: Easy to install, not too expensive,

Cons: The only con I can think of is the bracket that comes with the camera is a little flimsy, so I went to autozone and used a inexpensive black color bracket so it would match. drilled two small holes to support it better and picked up some anti theft license plate bolts and all is good now.

I had this camera installed locally and it works great with my new Axxera AV1014BH stereo system. You need to buy the license plate also that goes with this camera.

Exacly what I was hoping for!

Written by: McGurdy from Tennessee on November 22, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This little camera was exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered. I kinda felt lost looking at all the different cameras, but I settled on the scratch and dent Clarion special. It is great! The camera is clear and the thing picks up the smallest light. My only complaint is that the bracket it comes with is made of really flexible metal. It will bend with little effort at all. I may end up making another bracket, but this one is still hanging in there.

I wouldn't hesitate to get this camera. Don't be afraid to save more $ on the scratch and dent one either if you can. I think I'm going to pick up another one for my lady.

Pros: Clear picture. Picks up light easily. Install was easy, once I figured it out.

Cons: Bracket included is made of very flexible metal. It may need to be replaced eventually. Instructions are a joke.

Great little camera, free too!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't really have much experience with back-up cameras, but this came with my unit as a free offer and so far, it is good. It has the line markers for when you back up. It is a basic camera which works with most units, I imagine. Fairly easy to install, as the wiring is of good quality and small enough to fit through the tight cavities in my car. There is plenty of wiring which I found great as I had to go from the left of my car, under the back seat, then the right of the car.

Pros: Free, and fairly simple to use. Literally plug-and-play.

Cons: it would be great if the line markers curve when you turn the steering wheel, I've seen this feature on other cars, but not a deal breaker. The mounting brackets were not great. I wish there were brackets to allow you to mount with your license plate lights.

Nice Camera & Very clear resolution

Written by: Trustno1 from Salem, OR on November 2, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice camera. It has colored distsnce lines to assist in parking and backing up. I own a Ford F-150 and the only "blind spot" is behind the tailgate of the truck. This camera has removed this blind spot and I believe has improved the safety of backing up & helping to avoid backing into something that is behind the tailgate of my truck. The camera gives a great view behind my vehicle with very good clarity even at night. I purchased this camera with the Clarion liscence plate frame (CAU001) and security mount for this camera. This combination works great together and provides a "theft deterrent" feature to keep your camera from being stolen.

Pros: Colored "Guide Lines", & solid build quality.

Cons: None

I was pleasantly surprised after the install of the Clarion color camera. I mounted the camera just under the reverse lights so even in the dark I can see clearly. The camera is so small you can hardly see it. I love The camera especially when I am parking, when the car is in reverse it shows a rear view on my receiver in living clear color with the colored warning marks for distance. It's an awesome product and I am very happy and satisfied.

Pros: The camera is small, easy to mount, and produces a clear color view.

We got this for the wife so she would not have a hard time backing the Expedition up to the hitch on the travel trailer. This works fantastic. Grid is set up so you know exactly where you need to reverse or crank the wheel. Field of vision in the rear is amazing.

Pros: Ease of reversing to tow vehicle. Grid to line everything up. Field of vision in the rear is amazing. Camera is small and is easily mountable under the back up light mount on the rear door.

Pros: Wide angle view allows you to see a lot of real estate behind your car. Distance markers and functional. Very long cables and build qualify is very good (feels solid). Mounting options are acceptable.

Cons: Wide angle view makes is a little tough to pick out details. Picture is a bit grainy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was installed with the Clarion CAU001 license plate frame on a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX hatchback. The most difficult part of the installation was running the backup camera wire from the the headunit to the back through the passenger side door sills. The quality of the picture is excellent in the daytime and good at night. The grid lines allow you to position the camera properly so you have adequate space from your bumper to whatever is behind your rear bumper. The build quality of the camera is excellent as it is a metal housing unlike some other cheaper backup cameras with a plastic/composite housing. In the daytime, the quality is great and the wide angle of the lens is great and not too much of a fish eye effect. At night however, if your camera is angled high enough, it picks up street lamps and washes the image out. So make sure that your camera is properly angled facing more of the ground so it does not pick up the extra lighting from the street lamps at night. I have also tested this camera out in a very dark area at night not around street lamps and the quality of the camera is excellent! I have tested this versus a brand new 2014 Audi A8 with OEM backup camera and this camera outperforms OEM backup cameras! I would recommend this camera over other ones on here.

Pros: Excellent image quality in the daytime and night time Ease of installation Grid Lines that help you distance your bumper properly from whatever is behind you Small and indiscreet Built into a metal housing

Cons: Image is washed out at night if the camera picks up a lot of street lighting

Installed on my 09 Silverado with the Kenwood DNX-891HD head unit. This little camera gives a great picture in daylight or at night and the grid lines are a plus. I like this camera better than my factory installed camera on my new Equinox. Word of caution use their instructions to install do not use camera wiring from the head unit it did not work with my Kenwood wiring harness. It may work fine for a Clarion radio though.

Pros: Clear picture day/night, grid lines and plenty of wire for extended cab with 8 foot bed truck

Cons: None

Clarion CC510 Rear view camera

Written by: Joe T from Albuquerque, NM on September 22, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The camera started with a good view slightly round fisheye effect but the effect slowly got more rounded more distorted showing less area in a smaller space and more dark area around the outside of the picture.

Pros: Good mounting brackets, nice long cable that had all wiring inside with a good long lead with the small plug to get through to under the vehicle before the larger wiring made it harder to route. The distance lines red, yellow, & green are a nice feature.

Cons: Camera slowly lost the full view creating a fisheye effect and rounded picture with lots of distortion and larger area of darkness on the screen leaving just a rounded picture in the center of the screen and dark border on the sides. The distance to each line, red, yellow, & green slowly changed getting shorter and shorter so you could not judge the distance to the objects with any accurately or repeatability. The wiring did not allow you to separate the power out at the rear to connect to powe

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When looking at all the other cameras that are compatible with my DNX691HD, this one stood out as an alternative to the high priced and the cheap knock-offs. The camera features a nice grid pattern to assist when back up. The color picture is nice and vibrant. My only complaint is that the wire can only be mounted to one side. This is probably due to how the circuit is set up. I loved the option of a screw in baseplate or the 3M tape. I chose the later. It does take some adjusting to get everything the way you want, but it is well worth it! I used the ground and acc wires in my harness to connect this item.

Written by: Mikie from Palm Springs CA on July 29, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fantastic product for the money, very surprised when using it early am before the sun came up. The picture showed up as if it were daytime. I installed it on my Super Duty F-250, between the bumper and the bottom of the tailgate. I fabricated a square tubing bracket and inserted the camera so as to encase and protect it. The brackets the camera comes with are thin and do not protect the camera. I know that there is an aftermarket license plate frame designed to house the camera, but another $50.00 was not in my budget. Mounting and running the wiring to the stereo can be extremely tedious, but all in all, I would recommend this product.

Pros: SMALL, hardly visible for mounting in small locations. Clear, easily adjustable picture. Works in the dark, the different colored grid lines are great for guiding or parking while backing up.

Cons: Depending on the application, very time consuming and frustrating to install (but worth it). Mounting brackets don't seem sturdy enough for fully exposed installation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this camera on the recommendation of one of the sales reps at Crutchfield. I told him what I wanted, and explained that I was not interested in paying the price of the Kenwood camera to go along with my DNX691HD. This camera has a great picture, and the red, yellow, and green grid lines to help judge distance. The field of view is outstanding. I can see the bumper, and almost the entire height of the garage door. No excuses for backing over something with this. It is so small, once it's mounted, you don't really notice it. It looks like a factory camera. Plenty of included mounting options, and works great with my Kenwood head unit.

Pros: Small, excellent field of view, distance grid lines built in.

Cons: None

Great camera with guide lines

Written by: Isaac T. from Stevens Point, WI on July 9, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've installed 2 of these so far for clients who wanted backup lines. Many other cheap-o cameras out there have the lines, but it's always an unadvertised feature, and the lines generally look cheesy/bad. This camera is one of the few that actually lists it as a feature, and those lines are well done. Sound weird, but if you compared side to side it'd make sense. There's 4 (if I remember right) levels, red, orange, yellow, green, and once you get it lined up properly they're very helpful for knowing how far away from things you are. Neither camera has returned with issues, and the image quality is good. It's small and easy to mount, too. Good stuff.

Pros: Pretty much everything.

Cons: A little pricey, I guess, if anything.

Nice Camera

Written by: Michael V from Chesterfield, VA on June 15, 2014

I paid an extra upgrade charge for this camera versus the free one that was being offered at the time. This is a good backup camera, does what I would expect it to, and the clarity is decent.

Pros: Great size and profile, decent clarity back to head unit.

Cons: No audible distance sensor to integrate into head unit as you get close to objects, and the clarity could be better.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma TRD Crew Cab Off Road. Great picture day or night. Wide angle lense allows great range of visibility. Only suggestion would be to have the option to turn off the distance lines somehow. Most camera for the money.

Pros: - Wide lense allows great range of visibility. - Great Value!

Cons: - Does not have an option to turn off the distance lines.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great camera! Picture looks really good and this camera has the red, green, yellow lines to show how close you are to something, which some of the other camera didn't.

Pros: Tape sticks really good to whatever you are mounting to or you can use the supplied mount to screw it to something. Wires are very long and should be able to reach any vehicle from front to back without any issues of wire shortage. Does have a quick-disconnect spot in it as well to separate wires if needed for some reason.

Cons: None

Put it on the tailgate of my "06 Passat since I couldn't see a way to get to the license plate area. The lighting isn't always the best in this location.

Pros: The line are helpful.

Cons: Location causes lighting issues. Put below bumper, by license plate if at all possible. The light helps my Pioneer camera on my "09 Vibe good at night as well.

Very clear video from this camera

Written by: rotordawg from Central, NH on February 4, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Camera does have a green, yellow, orange and red guide lines super imposed but is more useful than not. It would be nice to turn it off, but I am warming up to it. The video is super clear and the very long cable on this camera should be mandatory! I have a 4-door Silverado, mounted camera on a license plate frame. I went up underneath and wire tied the cable onto the existing chevy harness and came up thru the floor in a factory plug by my feet, went up under dash nice and neat and maybe had 5-6 feet left. No splices to worry about! Camera is a little grainy at night but picks up a lot of light so you can see. Daytime is second to none. If you are considering this camera and not sure which one to buy, this one will be it!

Pros: Long cable, you need it for a truck. Very clear camera with color. Easy to mount and stays put.

Cons: Mine sticks out a bit from the plate bracket it is mounted on almost begging someone to mess with it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

VERH NICE, WITH THE RED, YELLOW MARKERS. VERY ACCURATE DURING DAY. A LITTLE GRAINY AT NIGHT. VERY SMALL SO NO ONE SEES IT. THE WHOLE STEREO INSTALL WAS WORTH JUST HAVING THE BACK UP camera. IE: I HAD A STEREO UNIT INSTALLED WITH THE BACK UP CAMERA AS A AUX.

Pros: NONE VERY Accurate with the markers, a must when driving an 06 beast avalanche.

Cons: a little grainy at night.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We put this in my wife's 2009 Honda CR-V when we replaced the head unit with a Pioneer AVH-X2500BT. She likes it better than the original. Lines tell her how close she is to objects in the rear and also gives her a wide angle view. Only down side is the goofy mounting bracket. Our installer fashioned a replacement that is functional. I have not seen better without distance sensors.

Pros: clear view with lines to tell distance

Cons: goofy mounting bracket

First Backup Camera

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nothing extraordinary about this camera. I did like the distance markers that came with it Just wanted an Additional safety feature on my car. Fairly easy to install if you have a DVD receiver that supports Rear view camera. The camera comes with 3 wires yellow RCA Cable, red , and a ground wire.

IN the day time You can see things preety good. At night the whole camera looks grainy. You can still see good it just looks like a old fashion TV you need to tune.

Pros: Distance line Markers, easily can be concelled 30ft of cable.

Cons: in the dark the video looks grainy..

The one star review may have had a bad installation, or a bad screen; my Clarion camera is crystal clear. It works just fine, I got it to work with an RV. I am happy with it!

Pros: The distance lines are helpful with the RV

Cons: The user's manual is strictly for installation, and there is no distances given for the distance lines.

Terrible video

Written by: Chris from Lexington, KY on May 3, 2013

When I first saw the video, I was wondering if there was any color, it was hard to tell. And not only that, the actual video quality was poor. I decided to take a drive to see if things would change, but it only got worse. For some reason, when the sun was behind a cloud, it almost looked B&W. Then the sun comes out, and there's a bit of color... and I mean "a bit" of color (and yes, my color vision is normal). The video also seemed to "waver" in and out (couldn't think of a better word). Anyway, returning as defective, but I don't want to take a chance that this is the actual behavior of the camera, so I'm getting a refund. Didn't even give it a chance at night because daytime video was so bad. Great customer service from Crutchfield, as usual.

Pros: Very little fisheye effect with good field coverage. Easy install.

Cons: VIDEO quality.

Features

Compatibility: The Clarion universal rear-view camera (CC510) can be used as a back-up camera with Clarion in-dash monitors. However, the standard composite video output (RCA plug) extension cable makes it compatible with virtually any mobile video monitor.

Waterproof Chassis: The camera is built into a compact waterproof (IP67), UV-protected (ASTM D4329) aluminum case, making it perfect for mounting outside the vehicle.

CMOS Optics: The Clarion universal rear-view camera employs a 1/4" color CMOS image sensor (342,016 pixels) with auto iris and automatic white balance to deliver a high quality picture.

Super Wide Viewing Angle: The 150° horizontal and 90° vertical viewing angles provide an excellent near field view of anything behind you. The camera gives you a mirror image for rear view confirmation.

Illumination Range: The rear-view camera features a minimum subject illumination of 0.5 lux (at 50IRE). The 0.5 lux rating ensures you'll have visibility at night in low light.

Distance Guide Lines: This rear-view camera provides visual distance guide lines (Red, Orange, Yellow, and Green). These guidelines cannot be turned off.

Mounting Bracket: The rear-view camera comes supplied with an integrated self-adhesive bracket which can tilt the camera up and down.

3 Connectors: The CC510 rear-view camera includes an attached 31.5' cable terminated by a composite video RCA connector, power lead, and ground lead. The composite video RCA connector plugs into your in-dash monitor's rear-panel RCA camera input. The power/ground leads connect to your vehicle's +12-volt reverse lamp wire and gets grounded to a metal surface of your vehicle.

This camera is compatible with the Alpine receiver. [ Jeff  Feb 17, 2015 ]  Staff
I installed on 2009 VW Jetta TDI with Kendwood DNX719VHD stereo and the harness and radio had the connection already present. Yes it turns on when placed into reverse. If your radio does not have this connection you may be able to tie it into the reverse light power. See the instructions for other possible ways to connect. [ Jeff  Jan 19, 2015 ]
I have this camera on a Kenwood unit and it automatically shows the camera image when I shift to reverse. This is a function of the Kenwood and its wiring harness which is wired into the truck's wiring harness to sense the reverse selection. The camera simply attaches to the appropriate input of the Kenwood. [ AUBREY  Jan 19, 2015 ]
It should if the radio you choose has the ability for a back up camera. I have the Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS and I have the ability to turn the camera manually or when it goes on reverse [ Roger  Jan 19, 2015 ]
Your head unit should have a green wire that goes to your reverse light so as soon as you put it in reverse it will come on. you might have to configer your head unit too [ MICHAEL  Jan 19, 2015 ]
Yes. Turns on automatically and displays the colored lines. Installed on my daughter's car. [ ERIC  Jan 18, 2015 ]
You have to find the reverse wire under steering colum and splice into it then it will work automatically [ Jonathan  Jan 18, 2015 ]
yes it will if hooked up properly. There is a wire from the radio unit the hooks into the reverse wire in your car. When that reverse wire sends voltage across it ( basically when you put the vehicle into reverse the reverse wire in the car receives a positive voltage) the wire from the unit received the positive voltage across it as well and automatically turns on the camera when the car is in reverse. When the car is out of reverse that wire no longer receives positive voltage and therefore the picture switches back to the radio or the cd or whatever you were listening too. [ Craig  Jan 18, 2015 ]
The lines Remain straight. If the camera is not mounted on center of the vehicle, Which was the case for me, they are slightly off. There are no "smarts" or programmability To this camera. It's just a bitmap of fixed grids. Still like it though. Very convenient feature to have. [ Daniel  Jan 19, 2015 ]
Yes they do they work very well [ William  Jan 19, 2015 ]
The grids are fixed on this camera [ daniel  Jan 19, 2015 ]
I think they stay straight [ JOHN D  Jan 18, 2015 ]
The lines stay straight. My dad uses it to hook up to trailers etc and its very accurate. [ LANDON  Jan 18, 2015 ]
If I'm understanding correctly I believe they stay straight... [ RALPH  Jan 18, 2015 ]
They remain straight since it does not tie into the steering or control module that sees steering angle. The grid lines do help worth backing up distance but are not as nice as the factory ones that curve. [ MICHAEL T  Jan 18, 2015 ]
Remain straight [ RICHARD R  Jan 18, 2015 ]
They remain relatively straight. They're not movable and are just a rough guide to how close you are to an object. [ Lawrence  Jan 18, 2015 ]
They remain strait. The colors indicate proximity but thats all. I believe nissan has a commercial out depicting there camera with that capability but this unit is a bit older. What i will say is that i have this attached to a vehicle in the north east and even with the rain, snow, ice and sub zero temps the camera works flawlessly. I only make sure to wipe lense every now and again [ CHRISTOPHER  Jan 18, 2015 ]
Remain straight [ ROBERT  Jan 18, 2015 ]
No they do not as it has no input from the vehicle except power from the backup lights. [ GENESISTEMS,  Jan 18, 2015 ]
Good evening, The "grid lines" do remain straight. Aside from that, the picture is amazing for an after market camera. We've had ours for about a year and the image is still clear and no problem with the seal letting moisture in as with many other cameras. It's endured many of road trips as well as automatic car washes. You won't be disappointed. Good luck and happy shipping, Matthew M. [ J P  Jan 18, 2015 ]
They remain straight. It's very basic. And I don't know what they correspond to, I wouldn't count on them for an exact measurement of how much room you have, not like that commercial where the guy backs up within a fraction of an inch from the stuffed animal with the big eyes . It doesn't pick up the corners of the vehicle either, you still need to use the side mirror to help you back into a spot , not as sophisticated as the OEM backup cams that come with cars [ CHRISTOPHER  Jan 18, 2015 ]
The distance guide lines will appear on any screen, they are in the lens of the camera. The angle you set the camera at determines the relative distance to an object. Its perfect if your head unit has no guide lines built into it or if you can disable them. [ RYAN  Jan 14, 2015 ]
Kevin - I have this unit and I am pretty sure the lines come from and are generated in the camera and not the receiver. It is a very clear camera. Hope this helps! [ Jeremy  Jan 14, 2015 ]
They show up on my receiver. It's not a clarion. [ Robert  Jan 14, 2015 ]
Works ok on my Pioneer,,a little grainie but distant lines work just fine [ TONY  Jan 14, 2015 ]
Should be any. Works with my Kenwood. [ TOD  Jan 14, 2015 ]
Sorry I can't help with this question as I had to return the item I ordered as my installer would only install equipment they sold. [ DANNY  Jan 14, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: To hook up any backup camera to the Clarion NX603 you'll need the Clarion CCA644 Camera Cable. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jan 06, 2015 ]  Staff
