About the Clarion CC520

Alexander H.

Your compact back-up solution

Clarion's CC520 rear-view camera uses a CMOS sensor to deliver a crisp image of what's behind you, and it features a composite video output so that you can pair it with any compatible aftermarket video receiver. Clarion also equips you with multi-colored parking lines and a wide-angle lens to help you park safely and accurately. And with an impressively low 0.1 Lux minimum rating, you'll always have a clear picture, even when it's pitch black out.

Clarion supplies it all

This waterproof camera comes with all the wiring and hardware you'll need to install it. It'll fit in almost any location you pick, even many license plate frames. Use the included lengthy video cable to connect your rear-view camera to your dash monitor or receiver.

Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you. It is not intended as a replacement for your mirrors.

Features

Compatibility: The Clarion CC520 can be used as a back-up or front camera with practically any in-dash video receiver or on-dash video monitor that is equipped with a composite video camera input.

Note: This camera is meant as a visual aid only; never solely rely on the camera. In addition to using the camera, always physically look to make sure everything is clear around your vehicle.

Waterproof Chassis: The camera is built into a compact waterproof (IP67), UV-protected (ASTM D4329) aluminum case, making it perfect for mounting outside the vehicle.

CMOS Optics: The Clarion CC520 camera employs a 1/4" color CMOS image sensor (322,752 pixels) with auto iris and automatic white balance to deliver a high quality picture.

Normal or Reversed Image: The CC520 is capable of providing normal or mirror images based on where you choose to mount it. By mounting the camera on the front of your vehicle, you'll see a normal image. By mounting it on on the back of your vehicle, you'll see a mirror image. You will need to connect the two tiny white wires labeled "Mirror option" to see a normal image.

Wide Viewing Angle: The 126° horizontal and 100° vertical viewing angles provide an excellent near field view of almost anything behind you or in front of you, depending on if you mount the camera in the front or rear of the vehicle.

Illumination Range: The CC520 camera's 0.5 lux rating (at 50 IRE) ensures you'll have visibility at night in low light.

Parking/Distance Guidelines: As a rear-view camera, the CD520 provides visual parking/distance guidelines (Red, Orange, Yellow, and Green). These guidelines cannot be turned off. You will need to connect the two tiny green wires labeled "Parking Line" to turn off the guidelines if you using it as front camera.

Mounting Bracket: The CC520 camera comes supplied with a self-adhesive mounting bracket which can tilt the camera up and down. Its also compatible with Clarion's CAUU02 and CAU001 license plate mounting kits (sold separately).

Power/Ground/Signal Harness: The CC520 camera includes an attached 31.5' cable terminated by a composite video RCA connector, power lead, and ground lead. The composite video RCA connector plugs into your in-dash monitor's rear-panel RCA camera input. The power/ground leads connect to your vehicle's +12-volt reverse lamp wire and gets grounded to a metal surface of your vehicle.

Q
How do you disable the guide lines? I keep seeing that you can snip or connect wires to turn them off. Where are they? Are they inside the camera?

Hi Michael, yes you can disable the guide lines. Built into the cable are 2 small protruding shielded wires. It lists clearly in the directions that if you want the guide lines "do nothing" but if you want them disabled, you simply connect the 2 wires. Easy as twisting them together! Hope this helps.

This camera was specially made to fit specific Clarion units. Its been some time since i installed it with a Clarion NZ503 unit and it works perfectly. However, I cannot confirm whether or not this camera will work with another brand of radio.

Thanks for your question. I'm sorry, no. You would need your own display/receiver. This is for the camera only. On the product webpage you can check out "What's in the box" to see everything that is included. Hope this helps.

I have not spent a ton of time on it, but I cannot get the camera to activate automatically when I put truck in reverse, despite checking the wiring a few times now. I can select it manually and it works well, but it takes several seconds to come up. I would really like it to be automatic.

Q
Is this camera compatible with my 2010 f150 factory screen? My truck came with a backup camera, but the camera has gone bad, so can this camera just plug right in?
dwayne  Sep 06, 2016

A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
my Clarion CC510 camera was broken in an accident so I need to replace the camera unit. Can I disconnect the camera at the connector nearest the camera and replace it with a CC520 or do I need to replace all the wiring? I ordered a CC520 from Crutchfield an hour ago and am hoping to minimize the replacement time by not having to remove the Pioneer unit from the dash.
