If your car has a double-sized dash opening, why settle for filling it in with a regular-sized receiver and a mounting kit? Take advantage of your wide open spaces and install Clarion's DUZ385SAT CD receiver — a great-looking car stereo that delivers strong performance and a wide range of entertainment options.

The DUZ385SAT's built-in amp belts out your favorite tracks with plenty of punch, playing regular store-bought CDs as well as those you've loaded with MP3, WMA, or AAC files. Clarion's Z-Enhancer EQ provides tone-shaping options so you can customize the sound for your vehicle. Song titles and system information stand out in clear detail on the bright 2-line display.

Expand your musical options with the USB input — perfect for connecting thumbdrives, hard-disk drives, or your iPod®. Clarion builds iPod controls into the DUZ385SAT, so you won't need an additional adapter to control it from the receiver. You'll also find a front-panel auxiliary input, as well as provisions for adding satellite radio or a CD changer.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Plusses: Nice, big buttons make this unit very easy on drivers.

Minuses: Ipod interface is slow and cumbersome. Limit of 255 songs for USB. That last one had me scratching my head. I plugged in a 4GB thumb drive with 540 songs on it. Kept hearing the same bands over and over. Found out the hard way I can't go past song 255.

    Excellent Product!

I recently purchased the Clarion and had it installed by an expert. I am satisfied with the
product itself. I have a Nissan Altima and the quality of the sound is much better and much
clearer from before. I really like the USB hook up and I'm able to play music from my iPod
touch. A huge plus is being able to control my playlist through the CD receiver. This is an
excellent product and if you're thinking about a CD receiver with good quality, I would go with
    this one.

    Good for the price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used to install car strereos in the 1990s. I hated the small buttions and the crappy displays and flimsy adapter kits of a single din radio in a double din car. We have a 2008 KIA Sedona (double din) and I didn't want a sigle DIN radio. This radio fits perfectly and looks great. I like the large buttons and factory look of this radio. FM reception is poor compared to the stock radio. IPOD functions work perfectly through the USB cable. The remote is limited in function. I am not a huge fan of the gimmicky light display on modern clarion radios. The internal amplification is alot stronger than the stock radio. A overall good deal for the low cost.

I purchased the Clarion unit for my daughters 99 Maxima. The fit was perfect and so far, we couldn't be more pleased with it's performance. I was even more pleased with the sevice that I got when I had to call the Crutchfield service techs a couple of times during the installation. Wiring is definitely not my thing. I had a friend help me out with the basics but there were a couple of things that weren't very clear. When I called in, both times, it was like the tech knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to set me straight in a matter of a few minutes. They couldn''t have been more helpful or proffesional. Crutchfield just earned a new happy customer!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This radio fits and works just fine in my 2005 Suburban (factory Bose speakers w/ OnStar). I used the Crutchfield recommended adapter harness and I added the
steering wheel control adapter as well. The sound is MUCH improved, the original cd deck was just not cutting it. The iPod controls do work with my iPod
Nano and my iPhone 3Gs. It may not have the best and newest style display screen but, for the price this is a hard unit to beat.

I installed this unit on a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. I replaced the factory
speakers with Pioneers 6 1/4. Installation was easy thanks to Crutchfield
guides. iPod sounds great, now I can get rid of my FM adapter. Looks nice
and does not alter too much the factory look. BUT, the FM tuner is really
bad. At home, the factory radio scan feature found about 12 stations with
good signal. This receiver only found ONE!. I do not listed to radio very

I installed this cd player in a 2007 Toyota Corolla and it fits well and has a great appearance in the dash. I currently using it with a JL Audio G4500 amp and Kicker speakers. I can't comment on the player's built in power as I never hooked it up this way. It has an excellent sound (as far as the signal goes) with my Ipod Touch and cd's.

Here are the reason's why I only give it 3 stars out of 5:
The optional remote control is flimsy feeling and worthless for Ipod functions.
The display is very difficult to see in sunlight even with the contrast turned all the way up (not to mention that I have tinted windows).
The FM tuner on this player is worse than the factory radio. It will not pickup stations that the factory radio would and the sound quality is awful.
The volume knob is small and difficult to grasp (and I don't have large fingers).
The Ipod controls are worthless. Don't even bother trying to use them unless you are parked.

    Great upgrade!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this specifically for the iPod connection options. I have an iPhone with nav software and there wasn't any way I could get the audio into the stock head unit of my 2005 Subaru.

Some reviewers have complained about the display. I can see how it may be an issue, but honestly I think the display is a little bit better in sunlight than the stock unit, so I don't see it as a huge issue. Secondly, the lame "screensaver" graphics can be turned off through a menu (it's a shame that manufacturers feel like they have to do stuff like this). Lastly some have complained about the audio quality, and I have to agree that without any sound shaping this thing sounds thin and downright bad. I just set it to it's "excite" mode and it sounds a lot better (and a good measure better than the stock unit).

I have nothing but good things to say about this unit. For the price, it's a good solid buy.

It's not clear (enough), but the iPod connection gives you control and audio over USB for iPods (and iPhones). As is typical, the control on the head unit is a little annoying due to the limited text space on the screen, but it works like a charm.

As a note this unit is "made for iPod" by not "works with iPhone". Basically it means that on iPhones you will get a message asking if you want to enable airplane mode on your phone. You can tap "no" and everything works great.

A good HU with a couple of annoying problems

Written By Anonymous, Bill, West Sonoma county on Wednesday, September 23, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The good: This unit plays it all and it sounds great doing it. the Ipod sounded particularly good through this HU.

The Bad: I ended up retuning this unit because the display was unreadable in day light. My truck has large windows and light tan interior which made the screen unreadable 50% of the time. It does not help that clarion used a very shiny plastic to cover the display. It had one other annoyance. If the HU was set to the tuner function when the vehicle was turned off when the vehicle was restarted the HU would switch to the USB function on its own. A minor inconvenience.

Conclusion: If you have tinted windows and a dark vehicle interior this HU will serve you well.

    1995 Maxima

Written By Stuart, Kansas City, MO on Monday, September 14, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit went in with no problems whatsoever, perfect fit. Huge improvement over the stock receiver. Slightly disappointed that the receiver doesn't show what is playing on the radio. Looks great. Also purchased two sets of the Infinity Reference 6032si's to replace the front and rear stock speakers, along with the Nissan Maxima harness (NOT the Scoshe harness), which was spliced in to the existing harness with the use of the nifty little screw connectors (get a set of these!). The only problem in this installation was that everything I had read said you couldn't use a non-bose receiver with the bose amplifiers for each speaker. This is incorrect, since the Clarion unit and the Infinity speakers worked perfectly with the existing bose speaker amplifiers (unfortunatley, I destroyed one of the amplifiers in splicing in the new speaker directly, and it needed the amplifier to produce big sound, which now the other 3 do, so now I have one "weak sister" speaker in the Front Left speaker. (the factory bose unit was made by Clarion, which I discovered when I removed it). I also had to drill holes in the metal speaker mounts for the rear speakers in order to attach the speaker amps--if you plan to do this, be very careful to use a drill bit short enough that once you go thru the metal it doesn't contact the speaker cone!! All in all, very satisfied with the new sound.

Clarion DUZ385SAT with some notes on mp3 playback

Written By WILLIAM, New York, NY on Tuesday, September 08, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It is a good radio overall. Sound quality out of the box was rather flat, but there are enough tuning options to make it sound as good or better than my factory toyota stereo. Navigation is quirky but you get used to it. The silver paint job on the front dial could go. Display is an 80's era alpha-numeric flourescent design -- a little hard to read in direct daylight but otherwise it is fine, and it does some funky character animation while its playing. Didn't recognize my 5th gen ipod but it could be my ipod (it works fine in my other car though).

The documentation about the 510 file limitation is not correct. They actually mean 510 folders, so it should read "The player can recognize up to 8 hierarchical levels, 255 files per folder and 510 total FOLDERS". This gives you the 130,560 songs they are talking about later in the documentation. This typo is in the manual so Crutchfield just copied it.

There is no "easy' way to skip over a file in random "Play All" mode which is the mode you would use to randomly play any file in any folder. If you are in this mode and hit the next button it will skip to the next file in the folder rather than a random file. To skip randomly you need to go back and press the RDM again and then press it once more and hold it for at least one sec. While this works, it is somewhat annoying as you need to hold the button and when traveling over bumpy roads it can be a challenge. Other than this, the mp3 playback is great.

[Editor's Note: You are correct. It should read 510 folders. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.]

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit for my daughters 2007 Corolla. The factory radio/CD worked, but it lacked some features that I was looking for. It took a bit to get the old unit out, but let me tell you, the effort is worth it. The unit fits into the stock opening like it was made for the Toyota. Now the six factory speakers really sound great. The added ability to hook an iPod to the system makes this much easier on her when she commutes back and forth from school. The ability to plug a flash drive into the unit makes it easy for me to plug in some of my music when we get her to drive us around.

Crutchfield is my only stop for any audio equipment that I have ever or ever will buy.

    Problems...still not fixed

Written By Eddie, Dallas, GA on Monday, August 24, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A good radio for the price. The radio went in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer to replace the factory AM/FM 6-CD unit with subwoofer. Had to get clarification on some of the wiring because some of the connections were not clear to me. After installation and power was on, a loud popping noise was emitted from the factory subwoofer. After contacting technical service, they told me to install a voltage regulator (PN 276-1770) to reduce the voltage going to the subwoofer. This did not work. I called technical service a second time and they insisted that is the fix. So I bought another voltage regulator and it did not work as well. So I ended up disconnecting the wiring harness going to the subwoofer. The radio works fine except I don't have a fully functioning system. Highly recommend crutchfield incorporate/include a voltage regulator or something that will work for a factory subwoofer. I gave two stars for the pain I went through trying to make the system work and having to buy two voltage regulators and a Y-adaptor for the RCA radio connectors.

Installing the system was very easy, took me a couple of hours for my 4runner but only because I was double checking everything along the way. Had to call Crutchfield once during the installation and got excellent advice from customer service.
Radio sounds nice - especially for the price! - and being able to play MP3s from CD or USB flash drives is great. Only problem was that the unit doesn't seem to work with my 4th generation ipod, only 5th generation and newer are supported according to Crutchfield CS.

    Superior Sound for Stock Bose

Written By NissanFan, Chico, CA on Saturday, August 15, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit in my 97 Nissan Maxima which had a stock Bose system.
The sound of the Clarion is outstanding! Takes a bit of time to splice wires
to harness but well worth it. Be sure to adjust levels on new harness as
this determines sound quality. The Clarion unit fits perfect and I can't stress
how much of an improvement over the stock Bose unit it is. The controls are
simple yet advanced...I love the USB connection for my Ipod and the ability
    to fine tune sound. Instructions
from Crutchfield are very good. This is my second order from Crutchfield and
I have found from my research that these guys know your vehicle. If I
bought from the local stereo shops I would have been left in the dark.
    Thanks Crutchfield....another home RUN!

    Nice unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit replaced a 1-1/2 year old JVC unit that croaked in my '98 Toyota
Tacoma. This unit looks more "OEM" in the dash than the JVC, but could
really use a brighter display. If you're looking for dancing lights on your
dash, this one's not for you. The USB connection for iPod works just as
advertised, but will take a little trial & error to figure out how to maneuver
around through the music. Fairly intuitive controls otherwise. I wish I had
purchased this unit first - could have saved myself about $85 and a WHOLE
lot of trouble and frustration. Buy it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in Nissan Frontier 2007 King Cab about 1,500 miles ago. Install was
easy... ask Crutchfield to include the (free) wiring adapter for your vehicle.
Have used the USB and/or Aux. for iPods (Nano 3gen, iTouch 2nd gen, &
original), all work well, sound is good, and charges iPods when using USB.
When iTouch uses USB the touch screen become unavailable, control is then
from head unit. Ran USB into glove box. Radio tuner reception seems equal to
OEM radio, the instant return button to your preferred station is nice. CD plays
good, controls are as expected. Several choices for pre-set tones, or set your
own bass & tremble, it take a couple of steps to set or change tone. Haven't
used XM or Bluetooth. Display LED screen should be brighter... SETTING THE
CONTRAST TO MAX (16) makes the display acceptable in sunny weather, even
with sunglasses, barely. The sound quality and volume are good through my
OEM speakers. For the price it's got great features, that work well... and no
worries about some schmuck breaking-in to steal it is priceless. One star gone
    for display brightness.

    Nice look but horrible sound

Written By payne, Camp Hill, PA on Friday, July 03, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My husband and I bought this deck for my 07 Fusion. I was so happy to have something that looked really nice and that a large amount of people had great things to say about it. However, after we installed it the stereo was horrible. It would fade in and out of reception and I couldn't even get 105.7 The X which isn't even two miles from my house. I was so frustrated b/c I got such a good deal, a free remote control and a 6 disc CD changer but I had no choice but to get rid of it. I would never recommend this product to anyone. The look is very nice and simple but the quality is HORRIBLE, So I resorted to one of the brands I've always owned in the past and never had a problem with, Kenwood. However, I would also recommend a Sony Explod to anyone, the speakers and system are AMAZING and Kenwood has just as good of quality. I hate to write a bad review but contrary to what everyone else has written this product is not worth all of the free items you receive with it b/c the quality is horrible. Do yourself a favor and go with a Kenwood or Sony b/c the Clarion doesn't come close to matching up. Crutchfield has been wonderful with everything to the point that I return the clarion at 5:12 pm and the next morning I received an e-mail stating they received it and my Kenwood was being shipped out. Thank you Crutchfield for ALWAYS being reliable, friendly and AMAZING when it comes to anything you sell, I will continue to go with Crutchfield for all of my future purchases!

Very easy install. Required the PCA-2 OEM, Antenna adapter and adapter
connector/harness to plug into the factory harness.

Installed over this past weekend. Nice simple features and functions. The
Aux and USB connections are working perfect for the Ipod and external XM

Only issue that stopped this review from being 5 stars is the radio is not an
exact fit and leaves a 1/8 gap around it. When you use the provided space
filler it doesn't fit on the front because of the slight inward bevel on the
    original dash panel.

Would highly recommend this head unit.

Just installed this in my '99 Mazda Miata. It has everything I need without being too flashy. The last you need in a convertible is something that screams " Hey look at me " !!!. It fit perfectly in my dash. My only complaints are 1) The chrome volume control knob kinda stands out against the all black unit,it would be nice if they made a black knob available as a replacement, and 2) with a unit that has the capability to play a usb flash drive, that Clarion doesn't make one available on a special order basis. I have seen pictures of a flash drive in the Clarion catalogue with their corporate logo on it and yet they don't make one available.

The installation wasn't bad with the instructions they sent but they could have gone into a little more detail with the installation kit instructions (took a while to figure out what went where). But once you get it in it fits perfectly in the dash. My favorite part of this radio is the USB interface. I can plug in my Ipod and control it from the stereo. This receiver fit perfectly in my '97 Nissan Maxima. The Amplifier harness
and diversity antenna that Crutchfield provides at a deep discount for my
car also fit perfectly and really made my sound system come alive with
powerful, crisp sound. The radio is very nicely laid out with great features
and performs beautifully. It comes with a USB 3' long pigtail on the back of
the radio which one can run into the glove box for an out of site connection
to an IPOD, memory stick, etc. I've connected my IPOD to it and always
keep it in the glove box as the receiver comes with great built in controls to
navigate and control the IPOD as well as keeps it charged. The receiver
also looks great at night. The only two very small cons I found were that
the supplied remote control does not allow one to navigate the IPOD's
menu (except jumping back and forth among the songs in the currently
selected folder/playlist) and the display is not as bright or bold as I wish it
were so I sometimes have some difficulty reading it during a very sunny
day. Other than these two trivial issues, I couldn't be happier with my
purchase and Crutchfield's service and install accessories are hands down
    the absolute best as usual.

This radio looks great in our 2004 Toyota Sienna and install was a snap. The adapter that we purchased works great with the factory JBL amp and speakers.
The iPod functionality works very well and we can confirm that this unit works great with the iPhone 3G. The phone does give a warning about using airplane mode but it can be ignored and everything works just fine. Calls can still be made and received and a bluetooth headset makes it even better.
This radio provides a solid bang for the buck. Our aim was to play music from the iPhone so that we can do away with all the old CDs and have all our kids' music available. Problem solved!
Also, the iPod navigation controls are pretty intuitive and its easy once you glance at the instruction manual.

I called Crutchfield for a couple of answers on wiring connections, received an immediate answer. A++ service. I have owned everything from a VW bug to a 2001 Corvette, and have tried many steraos. If you want a high quality great product at a budget price, this fits the bill. The features alone are worth the money, not to mention the sound quality, on factory speakers! As stated in many reviews, the brightness could be better, but who cares. IPOD works great, Sat Radio too.

    Ahhh..price is low now :(

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You get what you paid for. I bought this one last year in November or December, forgot when it was exactly. I really recommend this product for anyone who likes to have the an excellent after-market cd,mp3 player. here's what I LOVE about this player.

    1. USB! Top of the line feature; saves me money and time! Imagine if you have to burn so many CDs or MP3 Cds everytime you want to change music. With USB, you plug and it plays instantly in just about 2 secs. No relay! I just used a 1GB Flash Drive formatted with FAT32 and music just sounds great on my Accord 2001 V6 4 Dr Sedan. The high 50Watt is great pump to the speakers.

    2. You can set to display artist only, title and album, or simply the time. The options for the music sound is a must have. It adds a way of entertainment to the sound, you choose to play Pop, Jazz, or your own custom ways.

    3. The look, sometimes you replaced the original with the after-market, it doesn't match very well, but with this Clarion version; it's an excellent match to my Accord.

    4. Crutchfield tech answered to the best the can with any questions you have. I spent 4 HOURS to install this one, it was mostly my fault that consumed the hours. The tech was very informative and patient. Their services can't be beaten.

    1 CON

    1. ONLY 1 thing, it would be NICE to have colors on the displays, because they would like really cool/nice at night. I am satisfied with my spending. thanks Crutchfield!!!

I looked around a bit and Crutchfield had the best price due to free shipping, plug connector adapter, and remote. I was skeptical as I don't install stereos, but was willing to give it a try. Crutch filed sends me this pin connector along with the replacement unit that you plug into the factory wiring harness after removal of old unit. The wires that come from this pin connector are colored to match the new Clarion unit. It was a no brainer. Butt splice the red to red, black to black, violet to violet etc.
Came with wiring diagrams and pictures of my specific trucks dash and how
to take it apart with tools required list. I bet I had it installed up and running in less then 1 hour. This CD/receiver has basic functions and a few custom. Love the iPod adapter and aux input that a factory replacement would not have. The illumination actually looks better then the factory unit and better matches my dash. Sound is pretty much the same as factory but has 2 outputs for amps that I did not utilize yet.

YES! THATS RIGHT! it POWERS the iPhone 3G! I didn't think any units did this. I was all prepaired to buy a used ipod but then I plugged my iphone 3G into the USB cord and it showed as charging. YEAH! Controls are flawless. The phone rings through the speakers with calls and texts. I LOVE IT! The sound is outstanding this is a great head unit.

I purchased this head unit to replace the factory radio in my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Crutchfield send me an installation kit and factory wiring harness. Within 35 minutes I had the new unit in place and operational. The kit provided allows a flush seamless fit and finish. This aftermarket unit looks stock (which is a good deterrent for would be thieves). The unit has many features including a USB cable to hook up an IPOD. Performance and sound quality are excellent. The only grievances I have with the unit is during the day the display is not very legible/bright and it is very confusing trying to navigate through the sound settings to adjust/set bass, treble, etc. Overall a good product for a great price. Shopping with Crutchfield has been a pain free satisfying experience. They provide excellent products, prices, and service. Keep up the good work Cruchfield!

    Fantastic System Fantastic Price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The install on this system went like a dream. I wired the harness while sitting in my living room, and walked out to our 2005 Explorer, popped the Mach system out, and popped the Clarion in. I simply ran the USB/Ipod connector into the back of the glove box, so no problem there. Seriously, other than the time it took to wire up the harness, this was a 20 minute install and the sound is just awesome. The Ipod controls work flawlessly and make the need for a CD player almost nil. If I had any complaints, they are minor ones. The lack of an on/off button, the fact that it takes a while to scroll through the artists on the ipod by pressing a button instead of a scroll wheel, but that's about it. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this system at this price.

    Christmass Eve Install

Written By Yesman, Calif. on Friday, December 26, 2008

(Shaker 500 : 05 Mustang ) The Clairon head unit is great loaded with features and sounds perfect. Now for the bad news , the mustang requires an expensive wireing harness even though it does not have -Rear Seat Entertainment-Rear Seat Controls-or THX. you still need this part.

Also the metra install kit must be trimmed back for the stock screw's to hold the unit in place, you may say "just get longer screw's" ,Im glad i didn't do that because the depth is perfect this way and looks better than stock.

In most cars this stereo would be a 45min install , in the mustang count on 3 to 4 hours of hard work and call's to crutchfield for help. I installed mine on Christmass Eve . The one time customer service is not available. You will be asking "where do the purple and green sub wires go ?" and "do the aux and rse wires just hang there not connected ?" and " do i need to plug in the rear seat entertainment module even though my car dosen't have that ? " So the mastersheet for this car is incomplete that's what phone's are for.

Dont get me wrong the clairon looks like it was made for the new mustang Fit, color and style are perfect and Im glad i got this unit.

This Clarion unit was used to replace my Nissan Frontier's DD unit. All in all
it is a pretty nice reciever, but a bit complicated than it has to be for a car
stereo. Although the mechanical install was painless, and resulted in a
better-than-stock look, I found it quite annoying to have to navigate the
booklet in order to arrange the settings. I have to keep the booklet in my
glove box for future refence. God forbid someone borrows the car and
plays with the settings! For this reason, there should be a lock-out feature
after you get the settings just right. Again, a nice unit with great sound,
but there is no way to safely adjust bass/treble/fader while driving. I am
sure this could have been simplified, thus my 4star rating of this unit.

    Near Perfect OEM Replacement

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this unit to replace the OEM double DIN 'clunker' that was in my '02 Miata LS. The major draw for me was that this unit didn't look like an after-market HU. Features are great, and sound is exponentially better than the unit it replaced. My only gripes are with the illumination - poor daytime visibility and just a bit too much light at night. The unit has a contrast control, but this does nothing to adress the above noted items. The other complaint is with this (and seems most aftermarket) HU is the lack of a simple ON/OFF button. Since the volume knob only does that one function, how hard would it have been to allow it to also control ON/OFF? The SRC button carries this function, but is rather smallish, and not distinct enough for the casual user to figure out how to turn this thing on. Strongly recommend otherwise.

This radio was great for the price. Was installed in my '97 maxima with ease. I use a 8GB flashdrive which works great, why bother with cd's. Jumping from folder to folder is easy, as well as navigating around the radio and comes to you quick after the first time. Only problem that I feel is the FM tuner is not as strong as the stock bose system, or it could be me (im very picky). But like i've said before i've always used the usb flashdrive. A friend seen the radio installed and also purchased one for all the great features with low cost. dont wait any longer, Just buy it..No regrets!!

    Great Price Performance ratio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed this unit in my 1997 Nissan Maxima (Non-BOSE) to replace the factory head unit. Crutchfield instructions were very good for removal of the existing unit (also Double DIN). Harness adapter provided was simple to setup and had just about a perfect color to color match with the Clarion wires. Clarion unit went in with no mods and bolted right to the factory mounting plates. No problems at all. Trim ring provided works well and unit almost looks like a factory unit in terms of styling and fit. Sound is very good, quite a bit better than the factory unit even without an amp - much crisper highs and lows. AM and FM station capture is good. MP3 play works well via the USB plug and a thumb drive. No issues yet with CD skip.

Only issues are pretty much related to the interface which could be better. It's not always intuitive on how to do something, but in reality - once you get it setup the way you like you aren't digging into the controls that often. You also get a feel for how the menus work and which buttons are used for which menus and it eventually becomes second nature. Inputting titles for radio stations and CDs is kind of painful if you don't want to see 'NO TITLE' displayed all the time - but this is a pain for just about all units.

All in all an excellent value, a purchase I would make again.

    Satisfied with this.

This is the cheapest Double DIN player that I could find over here, so I ordered it. I have to say that I'm satisfied with this. Sound quality is good enough for me. I like having the backend USB cable rather than In-Dash USB port. Now my USB thumb drive is sitting happily inside the ash tray (which I don't use of it's purpose anyway).

You can't beat the features this unit has to offer for the price. iPod, USB, Satellite Radio, aux in. I have been enjoying it for three months or so and have had no problems. Installation was a breeze in my Honda Accord and sounds better than the stock unit hooked to the factory speakers. Love the fact that I can load op a USB drive with my favorite MP3s and listen for hours without the need for an MP3 player. I can also choose to listen to XM radio without the mess of wires and big klunky MyFi hanging on my dash. The only complaints I have is no direct tuning for the satellite radio and Clarion could have done a better job with ergonomics and function of the remote (at least the remote was free).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having never swapped out a radio in a late model automobile, I found it very easy. The documentation supplied by Crutchfield was excellent. I had some question concerning the wiring harness scheme and a short late night call to Crutchfield tech support answered the issue. As for the unit itself, the sound is excellent. The unit recognized and played my Ipod immediately. The tuner sensitivity was as good or better than the stock unit in my 2006 Nissan Frontier. The unit looks OEM in the Frontier dashboard although the units lights are blue and the dashboard lights on the Frontier are orange. This would be a very minor issue. For those of you who own a Nissan Frontier or Extera, plan on some additional install procedures if you are going to place your Ipod somewhere convenient. I ran an extension USB cable from the head unit, through the center console and into the arm rest glove box. This enabled me to plug in the Ipod and have it out of sight. If you do this plan on taking the center console out which is not problem. A more convenient place to place the Ipod would be to drill a hole in the back of of the center console but this neccesitates taking additional interior trim out.

Cons: I gave this unit a 4 or 5 rating simply because of the low light output for the clock and display make viewing in daylight almost impossible. As with any head unit, the Ipod display is lacking but at two lines, it has one more than most.

    Perfect fit

Written By Orion30, PDX on Wednesday, August 20, 2008

I just installed this unit into my 99 Accord last night and I couldn't be happier. I wanted to keep the stock look, so that meant a double din unit. This was the only decent one I could find, and it fit the bill perfectly. The install went fairly smoothly. I actually used the mounting brackets from the stock stereo with a little modification.
    - Clean stock look.
    - Easy install. The harness supplied by Crutchfield wired up nicely. I had a quick question about the two yellow wires on the wire adaptor. Two and a half minutes on the phone with a Crutchfield tech answered my question. The local car stereo shop wanted to charge me $80 to install this same unit. I'm sure glad I didn't go that route.
    - Works perfectly with my Ipod Nano. We tried it with my wife's older Ipod mini, but its not supported. Kinda knew that going in.
    - Sounds good once we toyed with the level settings a bit. The factory setting is a bit flat.
    - The USB cable that comes out the back of this is about 2.5 feet long. So I can place it just about anywhere in the front of my dash.
    - The lights are not too obtrusive. Some units make the inside of your car look like a German rave party. This one is almost a perfect match to the stock lights on my dash.
    - With only two lines on the display, it takes some time to move around in the Ipod menu.
    - The silver volume knob in the center is a bit out of place. It kinda breaks the stock look I was looking for. But quick work with a sharpie fixed that.

The instructions for connection the wires were not complete, but a 5 minute call to Crutchfield answered all my questions then the unit went into the car in under 30 minutes and worked perfectly.

The unit isn't at all glitzy or fancy and the display could be brighter in daylight, but it does what I needed: controls my iPod and gives me an aux for my Sirius receiver. A pleasant surprise is that the iPod navigation is MUCH faster than it is on the Pioneer unit I bought for my other car.

this is a great unit, and fits excellent in the Chevy Trailblazer chassis. Install was a breeze, using all the stock mounting points and the Metra VT-GMRC-01 wiring adapter (dont chince here, the metra adapter keeps your factory door and fuel chimes intact!!) The unit is super easy to use, sounds great and looks excellent! USB mode is the best, espically with a nicely organizied thumbdrive (8 gig thumbdrive runs 39-59 bucks and holds 800-1000 mp3s!! no need for an ipod!!), and if you have an ipod, just plug it in and let it rip! the stereo settings are fully customizable with individual controls for bass and treble. all in all, a user friendly unit that performs with the big dogs for half the price!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Clarion DUZ385SAT was an excellent upgrade to the existing OEM in my
99 Nissan Sentra. It has plentry of power to drive 4 speakers however, I
would recommend the addition of a subwoofer to really kick up the bass.
The unit has a USB attachment for an IPOD or thumb drive which was a
big plus for me. I hooked up my IPOD Nano and it immediately began to
play the music. Make sure the IPOD has an adequate charge before making
the hookup. The auxillary input in the front works well with my Sirius
Satellite portable unit and allows me to adjust the input sensitivity from low-
medium-high. All in all, I would highly recommend this head unit. The only
con is that it does not perform well as a tuner. Clarion needs to beef up the
AM/FM tuner and then they would really have a winner on their hands.

    Sound And VERSA-tility

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield sold the DUZ385SAT & XM Mini-Tuner as a package. It was the lowest total price on the web. Install took an evening. It's a perfect physical and electrical drop in for the Versa basic radio (also made by Clarion). Power & sound are excellent even with stock Nissan speakers.

I wrote an 8-pg, step by step illustrated instruction manual for the Versa and gave it to the crew at Crutchfield - because - Clarion's "operating" instructions have only 2 pages on installation and left out major pitfalls (but Crutchfield support saved me).

The DUZ385SAT will accept media from FM/AM, CDs (AAC, MP3 & WMA encoded), XM Satellite & IPod (AUX or USB Controlled). But the coolest part of the radio is the ability to control USB memory as if it were a giant CD-ROM, turning the whole magilla into an onboard IPod. 1000 songs of standard Mp3 music or a dozen audio books go on a $15 Thumb-Drive with your PC. Your $300 IPod can stay safely at home or in your pocket.

Alas, iTunes and other DRM files will not play on USB drives. Note: A program called "Sound Taxi" will fix them.

The XM satellite "mini-Tuner" receiver fits in the Versa pocket and it's Antenna works just fine on the dash; external mounting is not required.
A terrific product at an unbelievable price!

I had been debating about one from the time I bought my Xterra 2 years back and I had previously tried one Panasonic unit. My only requirement was to integrate my iPod to my car. The first unit that I tried was single din and I didnt like either the sound or the backlight of the unit. This one seemed to be a good one for the price and I finally bought it.
Installation was a breeze and it fit perfectly in my car. Sound is really good. Controls could have been more intuitive. Excite mode should work for most of us who are not audiophiles. Bass boost significantly adds bass, but at the expense of clarity of sound. I was not interested in xm and so, havent tried that. Display is a laid back style which is what I like. Except for 3 stripes of blue color, the other lights tend to be almost off white which is quite pleasing to the eyes. ipod display is not great. It doesnt even scroll the names to display the full name. Also, audiobook integration has some drawbacks. If there are multiple chapters in one book, pressing fwd will take you to the next audiobook instead of the next chapter. But in ipod, if you press fwd, it will take you to the next chapter.
But I guess Ican live with all these minor issues. So you are getting a pretty descent system for a very good price. Also, it is double din which gives the system an oem look in my car.

I replaced the stock head unit in my 2004 Pontiac Vibe with this Clarion receiver. It is a great value for the money. I teamed it with 2 pairs of Polk's db651 speakers and am very happy with the results. Note: the pre-2009 Vibe/Matrix twins are not the most sound friendly cars so i was looking for an honest, clear sound and not panel-rocking power.

I added the Dynamat Extreme speaker kit and the DynaXorb pads on all 4 speakers [could not afford the full door kits and installation...:( ].

    + sounds great!
+ enough power for most listeners (who intend to keep their sense of hearing past their 20's ;)
+ simple controls (once it's set up, it's a breeze to use (love the ISR!)
+ looks better than the original head unit :)
+ covers all my bases for sound sources

Minuses: (they are few and minor)
    - the USB connection should really have been a port on the front (it will get more use than the AUX jack in this day an age)
    - the setup could be more intuitive (it's still easy if you keep the manual next to yourself)
    - display contrast could be better (the use of a glossy screen window does not help... they should have use an antiglare surface in front of the display)
    - the equalizer is a bit cumbersome to set up if you want to customize the profile (the Excite mode works great in my car's sound environment)
    - the base boost mode tends to dull the sound and generate vibration

$300 including everything needed to install free, built in ipod control, great look and style, double-din. What more could I ask for? Nothing -- I love this stereo soooo much!

    Nice Electronics

I was skeptical initially about buying this product. I had purchased a Clarion head unit once before and it was a real piece of work (not in a good way).
The audio output is crystal clear with very little distortion on the receiver. The user interface is moderately difficult and will take a good 30 minutes to master all of the selections made available. The MP3/IPOD and Satellite features work well except for some minor issues with recalling selections. However the overall audio output for all media selections is very clear and clean for the 20 watts RMS you pay for. There are some mounting issues if you are going to be using the unit in a Nissan Frontier. First you will need a pigtail adapter to spare the factory wiring harness, and second not all of the screws that came out of the factory din will be used in the install. I feel three screws on each side were adequate enough to prevent vibration noise. There is a faceplate trim that is rather flimsy since the head unit is about 3/8 of an inch to low. The signal to the sub woofer was surprisingly very clean when compared to the 400 dollar Kenwood unit I just replaced. Overall this product was well worth the money I spent on it.

    Great Fit - Good Performance

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased for a 2006 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. Easy install, did not need to cut out support bracket as with most Chevy Trucks. Ipod cable is great! Will look to replace factory speakers in a month or two. Good value for the price. Tech support was helpful with a few last minute wiring questions.

    I installed this

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Veryeasy to install, Crutchfield instructions were great. as far as the unit goes the only complaint is the way it sorts through folders in USB mode. and fails to reat ID header tags from audio files. In Ipod mode it is fanatastic. I simply tucked a 8gig thumbdrive in the glovebox loaded up with tunes.
