A design that creates a great soundstage

The SRQ1732R's 3-way design ensures that you'll hear a balanced reproduction of your music, along with strong imaging that brings your favorite artists right into your car with you. The tough Aramid-polypropylene woofer gives you that nice thump on the low end, while the dome midrange and tweeter complete your soundstage with all the details and ambience of the vocals and instruments. Clarion includes mesh grilles in case you want to custom-mount the speakers.

Purchased these speakers for my daughter and she loved them. Great sound at a great price

2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I always buy middle of the road items, these speakers were on sale and I'm familiar with Clarion, I'm glad I bought these Speakers, even thou they're in my doors to my PT Cruiser they sound great, Easy to read instructions, which makes them easy to install.

Pros: Fits in the doors on my Cruiser, Sound Great. Easy installation.

Cons: Had to Modify the way the speakers went into the door, the holes didn't line up, and the window was in the way when it was down. So you have to use the spacer, you can use 2 holes in the spacer, but you have to drill 2 holes to get the spacer to stay put, not hard but the instructions didn't explain how to do this...

Great speakers

2007 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed as front speakers in my 07 Wrangler JK. Crutchfield sends everything you need for the install and makes it fast and easy. The speakers themselves work great and make a world of difference. Wranglers are known for many things, including crappy speakers but now I can actually hear music with the top down without having to crank the radio all the way up. Great product.

Pros: Overall great product and great price

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers. Even thought the price is a bit high in comparison to other similar speakers, the sound and ability to withstand lots of power compensates for that. I would buy again.

Pros: Sound, power handling

Cons: None

bought on specs

2000 Saturn SC1
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There is a little Luksosowa in my cocoa this rainy evening... mmmm alliteration... most reviews tend to be worthless pieces of scheiss. So I bought some speakers without reviews :D The listening room is a stock 2000 Saturn SC1. Which is actually a smooth and quiet budget sports car. The source music has been ripped at 320 Kbps from first run compact disc or vinyl. So I have good acoustics and good source material. THINK ABOUT IT ! I tested the speakers on the Kenwood (ashamed to have it in my car) head unit before I went to the trouble of switching to the new Clarion media only. The equalization was set flat. The song was Killing Joke "Mathematics Of Chaos". I was impressed with how good the Clarions sounded on a very simple, low-end deck. So I let it play for a bit ;) Installed the media only Clarion. The crappy Current 89.3 radio sounded better than it ever has in my car, almost enjoyable :D The jazz station did not come in. The previous speakers were, and will be, ummmm, Infinity Kappas. So that is why I am bothering to write a review. These Clarion speakers feel twice as heavy on planet Earth as the Kappas. It translates to a heavier live bass throughout the volume range on a flat EQ setting. Clarion was really good and LOUD in the 1980's. :D If the Clarions survive the SWANS at $100 a pair, give them 5 stars. Then to solder in some continuous 16 G copper. Maybe add a 4 channel amp.

Pros: simple, solid, lots of holes to mount, efficient and loud, good bass... no really. If they do not have good bass for you, you are doing something wrong. If you are looking for subwoofer vibration, that is not bass. That vibration is below your ability to hear acoustically, unless you are an elephant. It is your car coming loose. What you are actually looking for is an electric whoopy cushion.

Cons: Do not match my rocket ship / car. A hairy muscle daddy did not come and install them in my Satty for me. I broke a nail on those damned coupe door panels.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

I used the Crutchfield provided pinch connector to factory adapter/ GM Saturn. I pushed on the metal female connectors of the adapter onto the speaker terminals. The plugged the factory wiring into the other adapter end. The polarity will be maintained as the adapter only fits one way. I would strip and solder the adapter to the speaker terminals if using the adapter permanently. After the system was satisfactory, I ran all new 14G wire soldered to the speakers and wire butted to the head unit. The adapters are nice. I used them for testing the system before going to the work of pulling apart the car. The stock wiring is kind of anemic is a copper sense. [ erik  Jun 14, 2014 ]
They actually come with connectors; there are tabs to slide the connectors onto on the backs of the speakers, and the provided connector has a clip on the other end to hook up with the existing speaker wiring. The Crutchfield pictures show the tabs in the second pic from the left, and Crutchfield supplies the connectors. [ Stanley  Jun 14, 2014 ]
There are positive and negative terminals on the speakers. No need for soldering. Get the adapter made for whatever vehicle you are installing them in and plug and play. [ KEVIN  Jun 13, 2014 ]
No soldering. There are terminals and crutchfield supplies jumpers to match your application.. [ AUGUSTO  Jun 12, 2014 ]
These speakers have the standard slip on connectors. Male on the speaker/female on the wire. Also - is narrow and the + is standard so as to not mix them up. The Crutchfield connectors plug into the factory speaker harness eliminating any crossing of +/-. Easiest install ever and I did the front and back in 90 min They sound great [ Thomas  Jun 12, 2014 ]
When I ordered mine from Crutchfield, I told them my vehicle make and model and they supplied the proper connectors. I don't think soldering is the way to go. I'd use some kind of connector. [ Gary  Jun 12, 2014 ]
You should be able to find a small pack of female spade connectors that will fit right onto the speakers. Crimp a connector to each pos and neg wires, you'll be set. [ Kyle P.  Jun 12, 2014 ]
