About the Clarion XC2110

Charlie Pastorfield

Compact bass powerhouse

Clarion's XC2110 mono subwoofer amplifier delivers up to 300 watts RMS from a chassis that's about the size of your hand. This micro-sized amp can fit almost anywhere, even behind many dashboards. And Clarion managed to pack more watts per square inch inside this little powerhouse than most other mono amps on the market.

Compact bass powerhouse

Ready for outdoor work

The XC2110's circuits are coated on both sides for protection, so this amp is a great candidate for use in ATVs, boats, and other challenging applications. Clarion nickel-plated all the connectors to resist corrosion and ensure electrical flow, even during harsh conditions.

Super-clean signal

The XC2110's input circuitry resists the electronic noise common in cars, so you will enjoy clean, distortion-free bass. Soft turn-on and turn-off circuitry prevents potentially damaging thumps to your system as it powers on or off. A variable low-pass filter eliminates the sounds that your subwoofers can't reproduce, and a bass boost lets you emphasize the low-end thump. You'll also appreciate the high-level inputs, so you can hook this amp up to almost any system, even factory radios without RCA connections.

Features

RCA Inputs: One pair of female RCA line level inputs (left and right) are attached to the left end of the amp with 7" wires.

Speaker Level Inputs: The 8" speaker level input wires are also attached to the left end of the amp.

Crossover: The built-in low pass crossover is continuously variable from 35 Hz to 250 Hz and the slope is 12 dB/octave. Because this is a subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged and it cannot be used full range.

Gain: The rotary gain control is continuously variable; the range depends on which input you're using:

  • RCA: 200mV to 8V
  • Speaker Level: 600mV to 20V

Bass Boost: The bass boost is continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB and centered at 50 Hz, allowing you to dial in the amount of bass according to your personal preference.

Power Harness: The included power harness plugs into a pigtail harness attached to the amp, for a total of 18" power and ground wires. The power wire should be connected directly to the battery, so it will likely need to be extended using a 10-gauge or larger wire (the attached power and ground wires are both 12-gauge). An in-line fuse holder on the power wire holds the included 40-amp ATO style fuse and another in-line fuse should be added close to the battery.

Speaker Output Harness: The included speaker output harness plugs into a pigtail harness attached to the amp, for a total of 18" speaker wires. The remote turn-on wire is also in the speaker output harness.

Customer Q&A

Q
what is a good place to attach grounding wire in a boat?
jamie  May 17, 2021

A
Hey Jamie, No matter what your boat is made of, I'd have to recommend grounding right to the negative terminal on the battery, or a distribution block coming off the negative terminal if you have one. Either way, just make sure all your other cables are in good shape, free of cracks and whatnot, to prevent any unwanted feedback or spikes, and that will do the trick. Safe sailing and rock on!

Will this amp work without plugging in the remote wire?

No sir, the high levels don't kick this one on; you definitely have to run a remote lead. And even though it has 10 gauge power/ground pigtails, it likes at least an 8g ran to it. Awesome little amp with surprising amount of punch; hope you enjoy it!

Q
Why is 10 ga wire recommended if the pig tail that the amp comes with is 12 ga?
chris  Jul 06, 2018

A
It's probably only needed if you're running it over a long distance.

How do you wire this amp as far as ground , power and remote wires? Description says "wires not included". Also... where are the speaker wires located on this amp?

We recommend using 10 gauge power & ground leads with this amplifier: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK10/item.html The remote turn-on lead should be provided in the aftermarket stereo's wiring harness. If you will be connecting the amp to a factory stereo, you can run a custom remote turn-on lead from your vehicle's fuse panel. The amp comes packaged with a speaker output harness (18") you'll use to connect to your speaker wire and speakers. Q
How much heat does this generate? Could it be mounted inside an enclosure? Thanks!

I put mine in an enclosed compartment of RV. have had no problem yet.

The Clarion XC2110 is a compact Class D amp that's designed to draw less current and produce less heat than traditional class AB amps do. It should work fine in an enclosure but you may want to monitor its performance to make sure its not overheating in tight/enclosed spaces. I hope that helps.
