About the Clarion XC2510

Charlie Pastorfield

Compact powerhouse for the whole system

Clarion's XC2510 5-channel amplifier delivers 50 watts RMS to your front and rear speakers while sending up to 300 watts RMS to a sub, all from a chassis that's just slightly larger than your hand. This micro-sized amp can fit almost anywhere, even behind many dashboards. And Clarion managed to pack more watts per square inch inside this little powerhouse than almost any other 5-channel amp made.

This micro-sized amp can fit almost anywhere, even behind many dashboards. And Clarion managed to pack more watts per square inch inside this little powerhouse than almost any other 5-channel amp made.

Ready for outdoor work

The XC2510's circuits are coated on both sides for protection, so this amp is a great candidate for powering speakers and subs in ATVs, boats, and other challenging applications. Clarion nickel-plated all the connectors to resist corrosion and ensure electrical flow, even during harsh conditions.

Super-clean signal

The XC2510's input circuitry resists the electronic noise common in cars, so you will enjoy clean, distortion-free music. Soft turn-on and turn-off circuitry prevents potentially damaging thumps to your system as it powers on or off.

Variable high-pass filters help you clarify the sound by eliminating the extremely low bass that your speakers can't reproduce, while a low-pass filter eliminates the higher frequencies from the subwoofer to clean up your bass. A bass boost on the sub channel lets you emphasize the low-end thump. You'll also appreciate the high-level inputs, so you can hook this amp up to almost any system, even to factory radios without RCA connections.

Product Research

Features

5-Channel Design: The XC2510 is made up of three sections, two full range stereo amps (front and rear) and a subwoofer amp. The front and rear amps are independently bridgeable, meaning the XC2510 can be used as a 5-channel, 4-channel, or 3-channel amp. The minimum impedance for each section is 2Ω, 4Ω when bridged.

RCA Inputs: Three pair of female RCA line level inputs (front, rear, and sub) are attached to the left end of the amp with 7" wires.

Speaker Level Inputs: The 8" speaker level input wires are also attached to the left end of the amp.

Crossovers: The front and rear channels have built-in independent high pass crossovers, the subwoofer channel has a built-in low pass crossover. The high pass crossover points are continuously variable from 15 Hz to 250 Hz and the low pass crossover point is continuously variable from 35 Hz to 250 Hz. The crossover slopes are 12 dB/octave.

Gain: The front, rear, and subwoofer sections have independent continuously variable rotary gain controls; the range depends on which input you're using:

  • RCA: 200mV to 8V
  • Speaker Level: 600mV to 20V

Bass Boost: The subwoofer amp's bass boost is continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB and centered at 50 Hz, allowing you to dial in the amount of bass according to your personal preference.

Power Harness: The included power harness (two power wires and two ground wires) plugs into a pigtail harness attached to the amp, for a total of 18" power and ground wires. The power wires should be connected directly to the battery, so they will likely need to be extended using an 8-gauge or larger wire (the attached power and ground wires are all 12-gauge). In-line fuse holders on both power wires hold the included 40-amp ATO style fuses. Another in-line fuse should be added close to the battery.

Speaker Output Harness: The included speaker output harness plugs into a pigtail harness attached to the amp, for a total of 18" speaker wires. The remote turn-on wire is also in the speaker output harness.

Q
I'm running a pair of 6.5" jbl 2 way full range speakers and a pair of 6Ã?9" jbl 3 way full range speakers and a 10" jbl shallow mount subwoofer... My question is it possible to run this amp full range only through the front and rear channels, if not at what frequency should it be set at to get both high n mid range sound to said speakers thanks???

A
Greetings Charles, and thank you for your question. There are setting for all channels on this Clarion amplifier. The HPF for both front and rear channels can be set as low as 15 Hz but you don't want that low of frequencies getting to your full range speakers. You can set it as high as 250 Hz, then your speakers get nothing lower than the 250 HZ. Where you set it depends on where your speaker is going to distort. You do all the settings on the amp by ear, and cut off the frequencies accordingly.

Q
What size (gauge) speaker wires needed?
vv11b40  Dec 09, 2021
1 answer
A
16-gauge is ideal for the front and rear channels and 12-gauge for the subwoofer.

Q
I'm considering installing this in a 2012 seadoo challenger jetboat. I see that the unit has (2) 12 gauge power and ground wires. The manufacturer suggested 8 gauge for primary wire from the battery (with single fuse) but I don't see an 8 gauge to 12 gauge distribution block. Do you have a specific product you recommend?

A
I do have I had it installed and it pushes a 10 Jl and 4 clarion mid range it's a pretty sweet amp for the size. Not sure about the connection as I was lazy but he did put 12gauge with a fuse.
craig  Oct 13, 2021
A
I did not use a distribution block, I installed clean to battery with inline fuse.

Q
Do I need to connect the high input and the low inputs on the amp from head unit?
michael  May 04, 2021
1 answer
A
If your head unit has RCA connections, use those. Otherwise connect the wires but don't do both.

Q
I need to run some wire from the XC2510 amp to a CM3013WL subwoofer about 15 feet away at most. What gauge wire would work best?
dan  Nov 18, 2020
1 answer
A
You can use as low as 16 gauge but I would personally use 14 gauge, as you can upgrade your amp later if you need more power.

Q
Will this be fine in the original location of a Monsoon amp on a Solstice/Sky/GT/G2X (GM Kappas) Or would there be a ventilation problem?
william  Feb 19, 2018
1 answer
A
Any aftermarket amplifier will do well to have at least some ventilation. The Clarion is very compact (12-1/4"W x 1-5/8"H x 4-3/8"D) and highly efficient (Class D) so, it does not generate as much heat as an A/B amplifier does. Q
it's clase D Technology means ?
hugo  Jul 21, 2016
1 answer
A
Thanks for your question. Here is a Crutchfield article that may be helpful: http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/amplifiers_glossary.html?c=3 This is the excerpt from that article: Class D amplifiers use output transistors as switches to control power distribution - the transistors rapidly switch on and off at least twice during every signal cycle. Class D amps boast higher efficiency, produce less heat, and draw less current than traditional Class AB designs. Class D amplifiers produce higher distortion than AB designs due to the high-speed switching on and off of the transistors, but this distortion occurs at frequencies above hearing, and is easily removed by a low-pass filter. Hope that helps.

Q
Does this amp support differential balanced inputs?
cjcj11  Apr 12, 2016
1 answer
A
There aren't any balanced audio inputs on the Clarion XC2510 amplifier. It has three pair of female RCA line level inputs (front, rear, and sub) and includes 8" speaker level input wires for connecting to a car stereo without RCA pre-amp outputs. I hope that helps. Q
Do you need two batteries to run this amp or you just connected both leads to one single battery?
furler  Mar 13, 2016
2 answers
A
Both leads to one battery or both leads into a fuse holder and 8 gauge wire from there to the battery.
todd  Mar 15, 2016
A
I connected both leads to a single battery, however my vehicles has two batteries in parallel. The XC2510 is a combo unit, having an amp for four speakers and a subwoofer, to my understanding the two separate leads are for the two amps inside the combo unit.
hugh  Mar 15, 2016
Q
How did you deal with the fact that the amplifier has two separate power cables?
mark  Dec 06, 2015
2 answers
A
I suppose you could run a 4Ga or 8Ga wire like normal (cable fuse as close to the battery as possible, and secured down... ran parallel to existing wiring until you go through the firewall in a safe place and way).. then use a distribution block to make the connections... Although you might really consider 4Ga wire instead. (maybe 6Ga if it can be found.)
william  Feb 19, 2018
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss installation. They can go over the details of how to connect this to your vehicle.
