Features

All-Weather Outdoor Speakers: The Yamaha  NS-AW150 outdoor speaker has a weather-resistant enclosure that protects the speaker from the elements when mounted outdoors on your porch, patio, or deck. The NS-AW150 outdoor speaker houses a single woofer and tweeter inside the all-weather acoustic suspension enclosure. The NS-AW150 also features weatherproof binding-post speaker terminals and a non-removable aluminum grille.

Two-Way Speaker Design: The Yamaha NS-AW150 outdoor loudspeaker features a two-way driver design with one 0.5" PEI dome tweeter and one 5" high-compliance polypropylene mica-filled woofer with rubber surround. The PEI dome tweeters provides excellent high frequency response, while the 5" mica-filled polypropylene woofer handles the midrange and midbass frequencies very well.

Wide Dispersion: These all-weather speakers are designed with a wide dispersion pattern which means you will get good sound quality over a large listening area up to 400 square feet. It is recommended to place the speaker between 6 feet and 10 feet apart.

Acoustic Suspension Cabinet: The Yamaha NS-AW150 outdoor loudspeaker utilizes an acoustic suspension (sealed) cabinet for tight, accurate bass response.

5-Way Binding Posts: The Yamaha NS-AW150 outdoor loudspeaker is fitted with 5-way binding post speaker terminals to connect your speaker wire. The 5-way binding post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual).

Mounting Options: The Yamaha NS-AW150 outdoor loudspeaker can be table-top mounted or wall-mounted using the included stands and brackets.

  • Table-Top: The table-top stands allow you to simply place the outdoor speakers on a table, shelf, or stand in a vertical orientation. Or, you can use the included thumb wheels to place the speakers horizontally on a flat surface.
  • Wall-Mount: The supplied wall-mount brackets allow you to mount the all-weather speakers to the side of your house or garage (screws not supplied). You should mount the speakers under an eve to minimize their exposure to rain and snow. When wall-mounting, you can orientate the speakers vertically or horizontally. When the speaker is mounted horizontally, the speaker can be rotated left or right; when the speaker is mounted vertically, the speaker can be angled up or down.

Dimensions:

  • Vertical Table-Top: 6.1875" (w) x 10.1875" (h) x 6.125" (d)
  • Horizontal Table-Top: 10.125" (w) x 6.125" (h) x 6.1255" (d)
  • Vertical Wall-Mount: 6.1875" (w) x 10.1875" (h) x 7.125" (d)
  • Horizontal Wall-Mount: 10.125" (w) x 6.125" (h) x 7.125" (d)

Hello can I connect direct to my console or have to be connected trough an amplifier?
gilbert  Mar 05, 2022
2 answers
A
These are passive speakers so some form of amplification will be needed.
allen  Mar 05, 2022
A
These are regular speakers(not amplified or wireless). So to answer your question, Yes, you need to go through amplifier.

Hello can I connect direct to my console or have to be connected trough an amplifier?
gilbert  Mar 05, 2022
3 answers
A
I connected right to my receiver works great.
earl  Mar 05, 2022
A
These are not powered speakers, meaning unless your console is actually suppling amplified power, they will need an outboard amp. Don't take much power.
timothy  Mar 05, 2022
A
I have mine hooked directly to my receiver. As long as you got the connections I don't see any reason that you should need an amplifier.

Hi I use a bare wire.

Q
Can you daisy chain these speakers?
seth  Aug 02, 2020
3 answers
A
YES, when it comes to audio, the daisy chain is similar to a single parallel circuit. It is important to consider the ohms of the speakers as well as that of the circuit that supplies it.
gregorio  Aug 03, 2020
A
Absolutely. These are some really great outdoor speakers. I have them outdoors under a 40' x 25' lean too. They are super.
norman  Aug 03, 2020
A
Yes. If you need lower Ohms, connect the in parallel. If you need a higher ohms, connect them in series. That depends on your amplifier ability to drive the speakers This speakers are 8 Ohms, if you put them in parallel your amplifier will see a 4 ohms load, if you put them in series, your amplifier will see a 16 ohms load.
antonio  Aug 02, 2020
Q
Can these speakers be daisy chained?
seth  Aug 02, 2020
2 answers
A
it acts as any other speaker with an 8 ohm impedance. You can wire in parallel or series but the amp will let you know when it's enough, most amps will not like that configuration. Best to use a multi speaker box that connects them to a single source and provides a constant load to the amp..
rick  Aug 03, 2020
A
I'm not sure since I purchased these as a gift

Q
One speaker cover came off in a storm. May I purchase a replacement?
bob  Apr 10, 2020
1 answer
A
We do not carry those as separate parts. If you purchased the speakers from us, I'd recommend contacting our technical support to see if anything can be done through the manufacturer's warranty. We include the tech support phone number on the order invoice. If they were purchased elsewhere, and they cannot help, I recommend contacting Yamaha technical support on 800-292-2982 to see if you can get them or if anything can be done.

can I hang these in my shower? Are they waterproof enough to stand up to the steam?

Ibe are outdoors under partial cover and we've had horrible rains this year with no effect on the speakers. Don't know about the shooter but if you mount them high and it's ventilated, should be fine. They are fairly large size, however. There are Bluetooth speakers that are waterproof and small in size.
anthony  Sep 16, 2016

Yes sir, mine get direct rain on them and work fine

Short answer ; no. I purchased these speakers for a 16'x21' deck and they are perfect. MHO is you'll require more power. If this is a short term application you might get away with it... Hope this helps -Bob

I have two for 70 X 12. It covers that area well. But I think 100x55 might be a stretch.

They should work quite well. You might want to boost them with a separate amp for best performance.

That might, but you will need at least 50 watts to each speaker to get a reasonable sounds out of them.

I need a wireless outdoor speaker for my 84 yr old dad that does not have a blue tooth stereo - only cd player - what would work?
jen  Apr 07, 2015
2 answers
A
The Yamaha NS-AW150 speakers are not wireless. You would need to look at wireless speakers with built in blue tooth or some equivalent.
ben  Apr 09, 2015
A
I can tell you, Jen, that my wife and I had the same situation at our other house. We asked the man who installed it--only to hear our CDs--and he said pretty much any speakers are fine. (Our outdoor speakers were Polk and sounded great.) More important than the speakers is the amplifier. Good luck.
gary  Apr 08, 2015
Q
Are these speakers wireless. And can they be operated by a I phone. Thanks for y'all's input?
jaime  Feb 28, 2015
4 answers
A
The speakers themselves are not wireless. You could how ever purchase a Sonos connect: amp and connect these or any speakers to the Sonos device which would make them wireless and controlable with an iPhone or tablet.
steve  Mar 03, 2015
A
They are not wireless. Need to be hard wired into your receiver or your "connect" component. However, nice speakers for deck or patio. Good Luck.
john  Mar 02, 2015

These are wired speakers. For the price, they are great. I have them in the outside pool area.

Nope. These are hard wired. You're looking for something else.

Q
Could these be used on ATV ?
jessica  Feb 02, 2015
3 answers
A
Possibly, You will have to verify watt and ohms requirements with audio system. Mounting brackets may not hold up well to rugged activity of the OHV. They are intended for stationary installation. I am not saying the supplied mounting is weak, OHV'ing can get quite extreme. "roost-on" Not sure how they would hold up to direct exposure to the elements (rain, water, mud, ...) mounting in/under the cab would help. They would give you a good sound system. Hopes this helps.
ben  Feb 03, 2015
A
I'm not sure. I have installed them on a car as external speakers. They are semi protected in the weather. They are behind the grill and will be subject to moisture and any wind driven rain. The car is not o the road yet it is still being built.
joseph  Feb 03, 2015
A
The answer could be yes. You could use them on a bike also. The question is, what are you going to use to power them? A car stereo usually has 4 ohms expected for speakers, these are rated at 6 ohms. That is a little better than home stereo speakers generally rated at 8 ohms. They will absorb a little more power. Being outdoor does not mean mud proof though. They are great speakers for the money, no doubt.

Can one at a time be turned off/on?

You would have to disconnect the wires to the speaker. These are not powered speakers and they will produce sound as long as they are connected to your receiver.

Q
I've had a related pair (NS-AW350) for years and they are great, running them off a 65wpc receiver. Could I run these on a 100wpc amplifier safely? The specs say "130 watts maximum power capacity, 40 watts nominal." Thanks!
frank  Apr 07, 2021
3 answers
A
Clean power is the key to get the most out of these. I'm pushing these with a 200wpc Emerald Physics integrated. I've never gotten close to pushing them to the point of distortion, which you never want to do regardless of power.
john  May 01, 2021
A
I would say "YES". I run four of these Yamaha's of a PYLE 600W Amp. It sends 150 watts max to each speaker and they are doing fine and sound great.
charles  May 01, 2021
A
Yes you can, they can handle a lot of power

You can definitely mount them to the ceiling. Just make sure you consider which direction you would like for them to be able to be directed. Also, consider wiring and support for the speakers' weight. Great speakers!

Q
I have a covered deck which is 10 x 40, only a 7 1/2 foot high, Do I need 2 speakers or 4 for this space so it will sound good without blasting anyone?
donna  Nov 12, 2015
3 answers
A
I installed the Yamaha speakers on my daughter,s deck-not covered. The deck is 12 X 15, so no problem there. The fire pit is about 30 feet away, and the corn hole games are usually 40-50 feet away. No issues with the sound at all. It easily fills the yard without distortion for Gopher and Viking games and music by the campfire. We are very happy with the purchase.
terry  Nov 13, 2015
A
40' is a long deck you wont get coverage with 2 speakers. One in each corner, or 4 along the back wall, crossing channels R L R L.
brian  Nov 13, 2015
A
The dispersion of these speakers should be more than enough to fill that space. Make sure you have a quality receiver/amp powering them and you won't have any issues
tim  Nov 13, 2015
Q
Are these speakers actually waterproof? I want to put them outside without any cover even through a rainstorm.
connor  Jun 03, 2015
6 answers
A
Always best to bring them in for winter. Rubber surrounds on the drivers will last twice as long if you bring them in off season. Cold temperatures are brutal on the drivers, even if rated for outdoor.
brian  Nov 13, 2015
A
Yes, Yamaha outdoor speakers can be left outdoors, year round, in all weather. Make sure they are properly mounted and that the speaker wire is insulated for outdoor rating.
gary  Jun 05, 2015
A
we installed these just over three weeks ago, outside, with no cover or protection, they seem to be fine, and believe it or not, we've had some pretty heavy rain on them - in California!
stephen  Jun 04, 2015
A
Yes. They can be exposed to the elements.
bryan  Jun 04, 2015
A
Yes, they are made for the outdoors. I mounted mine on the rear of my home, and they have survived wisconsin winter and hard spring rains and still sound and work great.
mike  Jun 04, 2015
A
Yes they are. Rain, snow, all seasons they can weather it all. We had them at our previous residence in Canada for five plus years until we moved and repurchased again.
