Take advantage of Yamaha's natural sound on your deck or patio with the NS-AW190s. These speakers are designed to withstand the elements and deliver rich, realistic sound outdoors. A 1/2" tweeter reproduces the high frequencies, while a 5" woofer takes care of low frequencies down to an impressive 65 Hz. Yamaha includes fully adjustable mounting brackets, so you can aim the 'AW190s toward your picnic table or favorite lawn chair.

    Good outdoor speaker

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good sound for the price and trivially easy to install. I don't use it for sources where a lot of bass is needed. Would be even better if the mount supplied with the speakers could pivot in two directions; once you choose the speaker orientation you are only able to pivot the speaker in one plane (vertical or horizontal, for instance). As I recall there is a separate mount that can avoid this.

    Pros: Easy installation, good sound

Cons: One dimension for pivoting once the speaker orientation is chosen.

    Great for the money

I don't think you can get a better pair of speakers for $100. Bought two pair and a new Pioneer stereo receiver for my two decks and can use either pair or both. Great combo

Pros: Sound great, easy install, inexpensive

    Cons: none

I put these inside my sun room. I put the larger Yamaha's outside for the deck. These just don't have the bass and sound quality of the larger one's but they still are not bad.

Pros: Nice size for a sun room, the all window construction limits a larger size.

Cons: Needs a little more bass.

I'm happy with the Yamaha speakers they sound great. The price was great. We replace the old speakers my son got 10 years ago from Crutchfield. (they kind look like the same speakers.) We have them out by the pool.

Pros: Happy with the speakers and they look great.

    Great Bang for the Buck

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Over the decades I've owned 5 or 6 pairs of outdoor speakers, my latest are Boston Acoustics and I'd give those 4.5 out of 5.

    Bought these for my daughter.

For the price the Yamahas can't be beat.

Pros: Excellent sound, good looks, excellent brackets, easy to install.

Cons: There should be additional screw holes that are closer together to allow them to be installed on the narrow side of a 2x4 roof joist.

For the $$, I'm very happy

This product beats Bose speakers (with a 60% higher price tag) hands down. I've owned both and I am very satisfied with the Yamahas. THey're not terrifically loud, but very well-balance for reasonable volume situations. I have a set on my patio and one on my living room.

    Pros: Excellent price tag/performance ratio

Cons: They could be a little louder and they definitely need a little EQing. (nit-picking)

Just installed these and I was very impressed. Separation was good. Clarity was exceptional, Bass was acceptable for a speaker in this price range. Very satisfied for what I wanted to do out on my deck with pool. We'll see if they hold up. So far so good!

Sweet Spot Between Price and Quality

Written by: IanW from Houston, TX on April 24, 2013

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I sought speakers for my remodeled patio, the Yamaha NS-AW190 speakers hit the sweet spot between price and quality, including a must-have in any speaker I buy: rubber driver surrounds.

When I tested them inside the house, they sounded very good at have-to-yell-over-the-music volume. Accept that you simply cannot get abyss-deep bass out of a 5" woofer and you should be perfectly satisfied. Deep bass on an outdoor speaker is not a priority with me anyway: I prefer not to inflict my music on my neighbors in hopes they will return that courtesy.

There is no apparent way to non-destructively remove the grilles in case you want to paint the housings: I took the manual's silence on the issue as a "no," and since this was not a deal-killer for my use I bought them anyway.

I have always had good, long-term experiences with Yamaha stereo equipment and these speakers should be no exception!

Pros: Very good sound for this size speaker and price is fair for the quality. Driver surrounds are rubber!

Cons: Non-removable grills, if painting housings to match is a priority.

much more cost effective than Bose exterior "environmental" speakers..

Written by: JS from Marshallton, Pa on December 10, 2012

I originally bought one pair; just ordered three more. I run them outside playing water sounds to mask road noises. I also have a number of Bose environmental exterior speakers, playing the same material. And if anything, the Yamaha's sound better for what I am using them--perhaps because they are more directional...The Bose, however, are much easier to install--you don't need to hang them, as they sit on the ground; and you can therefore move them around easily if need be... The Yamaha's are stationary, meant to be hung on the wall...

    Pros: very cost effective...

Cons: you need to hang them...

Will buy from your company again. Can always depend on Yamaha even now that product made in China. Thanks!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is an upgrade to my Radio Shack Optimus bookshelf speaker. What a difference these Yamahas' has made to tonal reproduction. The highs were a lot clearer and vocals sounded more natural. Bass is adequate. I chose these for its wider frequency range and slightly larger woofer. For the price, these outdoor speakers are hard to beat. I'm enjoying my patio and grilling a whole lot better!

Pros: Wide frequency response. Nice modern design. 5 inch woofer.

Cons: None for now. Time will tell if it will last past its 2 year warranty.
