Features
CD Compatibility:
The Yamaha CDC-697 5-disc CD changer will play prerecorded CDs, finalized CD-R discs and finalized CD-RW
discs.
Super-Silent Mechanism and Disc
Stabilizer: This design uses a belt and gear drive to ensure smooth disc
rotation and plastic rollers under the tray to allow it move more smoothly. The
disc being played is isolated from vibration on a separate tray and held in
place by a disc stabilizer. The quieter and smoother disc changing system helps
maximize the units sound quality.
Laser Pickup Floating Mechanism:
The laser pickup is isolated on a floating mechanism so its delicate operation
cannot be affected by vibration.
Intelligent Digital Servo System:
This type of system uses a microcomputer to monitor the signal, adjusting
pickup tracking and focus, as well as spindle motor speed, to compensate for any
problems.
Power Supply: The special
low-impedance power supply uses extra thick wires to ensure that power is
absolutely stable even under low-impedance conditions.
PlayXchange:
PlayXchange allows you to change up to 4 discs without interrupting playback.
Most of the tray extends from the unit when opened, which allows you to insert
all four CDs without rotating the tray.
CD Text: When a CD Text
encoded CD is played, this unit will display the CD Text information.
Disc Scan: This
feature plays 8 seconds of each disc in the changer.
Program Play:
Up to 40 tracks from any combination of the 5 discs can be programmed and played in any order.
Random Play: This
unit allows you to choose single disc random or all disc
random play. Note: Random play is only accessible with the remote control.

Index Search: If the disc
includes index numbers, play can be started from any desired index number.

Output Level: The output level of the line output
is variable and can be adjusted by remote.
Music Calendar: The
player has a 20-track music calendar, the numbers
corresponding to the tracks on the disc are lit until the track has played.

buttons on the front panel you can directly access the 5 discs. On the supplied
remote there are buttons to skip disc in either direction. Direct track
selection is available on the remote.
Dimmer: Using the remote
control, the display brightness can be set to one of three levels.
Automatic Peak Level Search: This feature
automatically searches a disc for a part where the source level peaks and then
plays the part repeatedly. For recording to tape, this feature is very helpful
in adjusting the recording level of the tape deck.
CD Synchronized Recording: Using a
compatible Yamaha tape deck, you can synchronize the tape deck to start
recording automatically when the CD starts playing.
Automatic Tape Programming: By memorizing
the tape's total possible recording time, the unit will automatically program
tracks, or help you to program tracks, so they will fit onto the tape with the
least amount of unrecorded space remaining at the end of the tape. You can
select any of four preset tape lengths by pressing the Tape button. You can
choose from Off, 46, 54, 60, or 90. You can also choose to manual enter in the
total possible recording time of the tape.

automatically program tracks on a disc in random sequential order for recording
