Variety of Network Sources

Network Audio Player: The Yamaha NP-S2000 network audio player decodes digital audio signals received from your home network's Windows PC, DLNA-certified NAS drive, Internet Radio, and iTunes; then sends these audio signals to your connected home entertainment system via Analog (RCA/XLR) or digital (coaxial/optical). You can also push music content from your Apple iOS or Android device to the NP-S2000 using a free controller app from Yamaha.

Ethernet Jack: The Yamaha network audio player is fitted with a RJ-45 Ethernet (10BASE-T/100BASE-TX) port to connect the unit to your home network in order access your DLNA music server, iTunes account, and Internet Radio.

Web Browser Interface: The NP-S2000 comes with a setup application that guides you through installation step-by-step, making it easy to create your own digital audio network. After setup, you can get quick, easy access to all your media via a web browser interface, which you can access from your computer or laptop.

DLNA Certified: The NP-S2000 is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7 compliant for audio networking. This means it's easier for you to access and enjoy digital music stored on your DLNA-compliant computer/laptop or NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. Playable audio formats vary depending on the media server.

• Windows Media Player 12 supports WAV, MP3, AAC, and WMA.
• Windows Media Player 11 supports WAV, MP3, and WMA.
• Twonky Media Server (supplied) supports a WAV, FLAC, MP3, AAC, ALAC (Apple Lossless), AIFF, and WMA

iTunes Server Software: This versatile network player comes bundled with TwonkyMedia server software for seamless operation with Apple iTunes. You have complete, convenient access to your full iTunes library and playlists. The TwonkyMedia server software is supported by Windows Vista, Windows, XP and Mac OS X. This free server software must be downloaded on to your computer using the following website - http://download.yamaha.com/file/45350 (an included license key is required for installation; this one key may be used on up to 3 computers).

Supported Bit and Sampling Rate: The Yamaha NP-S2000 network audio player supports bit-rates of 16- or 24-bit. The following sampling rates are supported - 8kHz, 11.025kHz, 12kHz, 16kHz, 22.05kHz, 24kHz, 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 64kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz (WAV/FLAC only), 192kHz (WAV/FLAC only).

Gapless Playback: Usually, when playing a sound source with continuous music, classical music, or a live album (gapless album), for example, the delay in transmission of song data from an NAS or PC causes silent intervals between tracks. The NP-S2000 reads the next song data in advance according to the network environment, or NAS or PC transmission delay, before the current song is finished. This eliminates the soundless interval so the music can be enjoyed with no interruptions. Compatible with gapless play of WAV and FLAC file formats.

vTuner Internet Radio: You can listen to Internet radio stations using the vTuner Internet Radio Station database service particularly customized for this unit, providing a database of numerous radio stations around the world. You can search for Internet Radio stations by Location, Genre, New, Popular, Bookmarks, or Podcast. The vTuner Internet Radio service will display station name, album name, song title, and elapsed time. vTuner Internet Radio Stations are in MP3 or WMA format.

NP Controller App (for Apple iOS & Android): The free Network Player Controller App from iTunes Apps or Google Play turns your Apple iPod touch/iPhone/iPad (iOS 4.3+) or Android device into a Wi-Fi enabled remote control for the Yamaha NP-S2000. The NP Controller App allows you to access the player's sources and control playback functions, as well as view song/artist information and album art; all from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device.

• Device Select: Networked Yamaha devices are automatically displayed in the device menu.
• Content Browsing: Browse music stored on your network connected DLNA server or select internet radio stations from vTuner.
• Music Player: Browse and play music stored on your compatible Apple iOS or Android device using the NP Controller App, with full access to cover art and track information.
• Song/Artist Information: Information such as artist name, song title, and album name are displayed via a colorful cover art image.

Favorite Presets: The preset function enables you to make a quick access to your favorite content (up to 20) with the included remote control.

Firmware Updates: New firmware will be released for the purpose of additional features or product improvements. Firmware updates can be downloaded from the Yamaha website. While this unit is connected to the Internet, the network audio player will indicate when a new firmware version is available and you can download the firmware via the network connection.

Audio Section

Mech-Less Design: The Yamaha NP-S2000 network audio player does not have its own hard drive, DVD/CD mechanism, or motor. This means no noise caused by hard drive motors and actuators, no mechanism noise, and no jitter from data buffering. The sound you hear has much greater clarity, detail and presence.

Dual Dacs: Two high-precision Burr-Brown D/A converters are used, dedicated to the left and right stereo channels. The outputs are then sent through balanced transmission circuits. When connected to an integrated amplifier with a balanced input (such as the Yamaha A-S2000; sold separately), the result is dramatically higher sound purity than from conventional systems.

Independent Power Supplies: The NP-S2000 uses two high performance power supplies, a toroidal transformer for the analog section and an IE core transformer for the digital section. This ensures higher, more stable power, while allowing the two sections to be completely isolated to prevent any interference.

Analog & Digital Outputs: The Yamaha network audio player is fitted with both analog (RCA/XLR) and digital (optical/coaxial) audio outputs to connect the unit to your home entertainment system.

• Balanced and Unbalanced Analog Audio Outputs: The network audio player is equipped with one set of unbalanced stereo RCA jacks to connect to your home stereo receiver and a pair of balanced XLR jacks to connect to your high-end integrated amplifier.
• Digital Audio Outputs: The NP-S2000 features an optical (toslink) and coaxial (RCA) digital output. This unit can output digital signals up to 192kHz/24-bits linear PCM.

Other Features

FL Display: The Yamaha network audio player features a front-panel full dot matrix display that shows the current status of the unit. The unit displays song/artist information from your DLNA server, iTunes, or Internet Radio. Supports English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, and Japanese text.

Front-Panel Controls: The NP-S2000 features a Power on/off switch, two push-buttons (Source/Return), and a 3-way rotary dial across its front-panel for basic operation. The 3-way rotary dial is multipurpose; it allows you to select menu items, as well as perform Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track playback functions. The front-panel display offers four brightness settings.

Remote Control: The Yamaha NP-S2000 comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the unit. With the remote control, you can select a playback source and operate this unit while viewing information on the front-panel display of the unit. The remote will also operate basic functions (Input/Volume/Mute) of a Yamaha receiver.
