The rugged Yamaha PDX-11 iPod/iPhone speaker system is designed to grab and go. Just take hold of it up by its metal handle and you're off. The PDX-11 features a unique octagonal case with a sturdy steel grille. Inside is a powerful 4" woofer to punch out mids and lows, and a 1-3/8" tweeter to deliver the high frequencies. And because it's a mono system, the sound is concentrated so it can really kick.
Just pop in your iPod or iPhone, and let the party begin! The system delivers up to eight hours of non-stop music with 6 "AA" batteries (available separately). Or use the AC adapter to keep the music going (and recharge your docked player in the process).
Needed something to take on the golf cart with me for tunes and also to listen to while I'm sitting on the front porch. Didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars, so I found this. Money well spent. Good, clear sound, and gets pretty loud for the size/money. The bass is a lot more pronounced as you turn the speaker volume down, so I usually listen to it pretty loud to even out the bass and treble. If I need to adjust the volume down, I've found that if I leave the speaker volume all the way up, and adjust the volume on my iPhone, the bass doesn't override as much. It will distort pretty bad if you do it the other way (phone up all the way, and adjust speaker volume), at least it does if you're listening to heavier music. I like the shape and look of the speaker, although it doesn't fit perfectly in my golf cart basket (frownie-face), but I can still make it work. It impressed my brother enough that he is thinking about getting one as well.
Pros: Loud; Good, clear sound
Cons: Bass is a little too much when volume is turned down, but I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing
Nice speaker, loud and clear. Great for use wherever.
Pros: simple, loud, clear, light
Cons: Can't attach an iPhone to the dock if the phone has an OtterBox case. Can use the aux jack just as easily though.
Great for tailgating , sound is dispersed over a large area with minimal distortion. You can get better sound from other devices , but this is hard to beat for outdoor activities.
It's the perfect portable speaker .
Pros: Has great sound. It also comes with a standard mini jack for non apple devices.
Cons: Does not inclued the iphone/ipod mount adapters.
PLEASED WITH PRODUCT AND PRICE
Pros: MET MY EXPECTATIONS
Cons: NO NEGATIVE CONS
Bought this for daughter's birthday. Outstanding unit for the price, beats BOSE hands down!
Pros: Great sound, powerful, rich and full. looks and fees more rugged than most other iPod docks. Would definitly buy another if I need too. Remote works nicely with iPod controls.
Cons: No cons really. one note though.....remote is kind of small gets lost easy.
The sound is good and what I expected for this one speaker. I really like the durable look and it sits nice and firm on a table or the ground. So far I have no compliants. Works great out on the deck and we take it on our camping trips.
Pros: Remote works good.
Cons: Iphone Ipod holder is a little weak.
Nice sounds for a tiny box! Very happy w/ the purchase!
I purchased the Yamaha PDX-11 so I could take my Ipod outside for yard work. For the price it does a decent job, but it is not as powerful (loud) as I expected. Battery consumption appears to be expensive, but I plan to power this unit from an external 12 VDC supply (think the lawn mower battery). As an inexpensive Ipod player, I like my Kicker ik 150 better for the garage and the house, but the Yamaha has the carrying handle and appears a little more robust construction wise for travels in the yard.
Pros: Robust construction, nice remote, battery powered, good sound.
Cons: Not as loud as one might think from the beach party advertising that Yamaha promotes. High consumption on batteries.
Works perfect for what I need it for. Sounds great for working out or ambient music when camping or tailgating.
Pros: Sounds really good, easy to use. The remote has more control of Ipod fuctions than any I've seen.
Cons: Its mono and not stereo.
It allows me to listen to music, etc. whether I'm working in the basement, garage, outside, or traveling. I enjoy the convenience and freedom of movement that it affords. I bought it to replace another portable speaker that only used an auxiliary input and I intended to use this one inn the same manner, but the ipod docking makes it even better! I really didn't expect to use the remote, but it makes it easier to use while I am driving (stopped at a light, of course). It is functional and attractive.
Pros: Good volume which allows it to be heard over a moderate amount of background noise. Fair battery life with rechargeable batteries. Attractive (I am partial to the blue that they use.) Compact and portable Recharges ipod when the unit is powered from the AC adapter. The battery compartment and door are more robust than those of most portable electronic devices made for home use
Cons: The ipod mount is not secure. It is easy to dislodge the ipod while carrying the speaker by its handle. I fear that some day the ipod mounting connector will become damaged and I will have to go back to using the auxiliary input only. It is not designed robustly enough for a job site speaker, but that is the way I'm using it.
Bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas and it was very much worth the price tag! For such a small speaker, the sound is great! May buy one for my mother as well!
Great portable for use with an Ipod Touch. When at home with Wi-Fi, I can enjoy Pandora while in the yard. Sounds good and at a great value for the price. Great for outside use, camping, etc. Like that it can run on batteries so that when in a remote area do not have to worry about charging. Have not used the remote, but a nice accessory. Would be nice if there was a storage port for the AC adapter.
Pros: Portable and good sound quality for a single speaker unit.
Cons: No AC adapter storage.
My Wife I and really like this Speaker. Good sound anywhere we go. It is rugged to go to the pool and beach. I only wish the Ipod Touch would lock in place --It has a tendency to fall out of the cradle when carrying. Still, I don't think there is another product on the market that is rugged with good, loud sound, and runs for hours on AA batteries.
Pros: tons of play time on batteries, rugged, deep bass, loud, take anywhere, inexpensive
Cons: Needs a way to lock Ipod in cradle.
Wanted portable speaker that had Good bass and Good sound.... We now use it inplace of our home stereo. What was suppose to be portable, now sits permantly on the kitchen counter and still projects great sound into open living room. When we do take it with us, unplug and go. Very Pleased... Love the look, Love the small size, it is sooo easy.
Pros: Bass, sound, small, portable, easy to use
Cons: None at this point... Has met all our wants and needs.
Buy it, can't go wrong. It is new to the market and will be one of the best ipod related items to buy very soon. I read a review of it in "Popular Science" magazine. It rocks. Also has an aux connection but have not used yet.
Pros: Arrived today. The sound is exceptional and loud. Loud clear sound. The remote is really useful. I highly recommend this speaker/player. You will not believe the sound and solid quality.
