About the Yamaha PRO 400
Sharp looks, smooth sound
Sharp looks, smooth sound
If you're serious about music, then you have something in common with Yamaha. The renowned maker of musical instruments and audio equipment is taking their expertise directly to your ears with its slick-looking line of headphones. Their PRO 400 headphones look sharp while bringing clarity to your music with crisp highs and deep bass response that is full but not boomy. Yamaha's proprietary neodymium-magnet drivers are optimized for efficiency, so your portable device will easily push the PRO 400s to peak performance.
Go with or without a remote
When you're listening on the go, it's always easier to control your music with an in-line remote. The PRO 400 features a three-button remote for volume and track control without removing your iPod® or iPhone® from your pocket or purse. And the built-in microphone lets you make phone calls on your iPhone as well, with the remote providing convenient answer and hang-up functions. If your mobile device isn't compatible with Yamaha's remote, you can swap out the detachable cord with the included standard cable or add an aftermarket cord designed for your particular device.
A smart choice for any listening environment
Cleverly designed to highlight Yamaha's iconic logo on the earcups, remote and miniplug connector, the PRO 400 headphones are as stylish as they are comfortable. The nicely cushioned earcups fit snugly around your ears, while the sturdy headband provides just the right amount of clamping force to keep them secure without feeling too tight. The around-the-ear design also provides excellent noise isolation, so you can enjoy your music without external sounds leaking in. It also means you can listen anywhere without sound leaking out and disturbing others, whether you're in the office, the library or on the go. Fold them up and stash them in the carrying case for instant portability.

Features
Overview: The Yamaha PRO 400 headphones have an over-the-ear design to isolate noise. The folding design lets you collapse them and store them in the included semi-hard zippered case. They come with two tangle-resistant flat cables: a 4' cable with an in-line remote and microphone so you can control your music and phone calls with ease, and a 10' cable to use at home or in the studio.
Audio Quality: The PRO 400 headphones deliver superb audio performance. The newly-developed 50mm Yamaha-proprietary drivers have powerful neodymium magnets that make them easy to drive with today's portable electronic devices. You'll get accurate musical reproduction for most any kind of music. The over-ear design shuts out external sound so you're only hearing the music, not the outside world.
Comfort: The soft padded ear cushions and adjustable headband give you hours of listening pleasure without fatigue. The headband is shaped to apply just the right amount of pressure--not too tight, but snug enough to isolate much of the exterior noise.
Cables: The PRO 400s come with two cables: one for portable use and the other for home/studio use. The tangle-resistant flat cables separate the internal cores to minimize interference. They are coated with a durable rubber-like material to reduce contact noise. The 4' cable terminates into a right-angled 3.5mm plug, while the 10' cable has a straight 3.5mm plug. A gold-plated 1/4" adapter is included for listening to your home audio equipment.
In-line Remote/Mic: The PRO 400's 4' cable has an in-line remote control and microphone that is optimized for Apple iPod, iPhone, and iPad. The 3-button remote has "+" and "-" buttons for raising and lowering the volume, while the center button controls your music (play, pause, skip to next song, skip to the previous song) and your phone calls (answer call, end call). The remote/mic is compatible with:
- iPod:
- shuffle: 3rd generation and later
- nano: 4th generation and later
- classic: 120 GB, 160 GB
- touch: 2nd generation and later
- iPhone: 3GS, 4, 4S, 5
- iPad: iPad and iPad2
Specifications:
- Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz
- Sensitivity (dB/1mW): 106dB
- Nominal Impedance: 23 ohms
