Comprehensive connections
One of your first concerns when comparing receivers should be — what can you hook up to it? The RX-A3010 boasts a total of eight HDMI inputs, and they can handle 3D video — no problem. Two HDMI outputs allow you to send video to both a TV and a projector. And all of your non-HD video sources get a picture quality boost from the powerful HQV® Vida— video processor. This receiver's built-in audio processing can handle virtually any surround sound format you're likely to encounter, including the latest high-res formats available on many Blu-ray soundtracks.

Plenty of power and possibilities
The RX-A3010 weighs in at nearly fifty pounds, due in large part to its nine channels of high-powered amplification. You can use all the power of the 'A3010 to drive seven home theater speakers in the traditional arrangement: three front speakers, a pair to the sides, and a pair in the back. But you have other options, too. If your front left and right speakers are biampable, you could use two spare channels to biamp them for clearer, more dynamic sound. Or you could use four channels to pipe music outside and to another room. There's even an optical output so you can send music to a fourth zone amplifier. It's nice to have that flexibility.

Practically limitless Internet music choices
The RX-A3010's Ethernet port is a gateway to a world of fresh, new listening options. Thousands of Internet radio stations, music services like Rhapsody® and Napster® (some require a subscription), and music files streamed from your networked PC. Just think of the possibilities.

Starring iPod® as your remote control
The RX-A3010 has a direct USB input on the front panel so you can plug your iPod touch® or iPhone® directly in. That's definitely convenient, but it also sounds much better because you can bypass the iPod's audio circuitry and use the receiver's instead. And Yamaha offers a free, downloadable app for either Apple® or Android™ devices that you can use to control this receiver with ease.

Acoustic balance is just a touch away
Yamaha's auto-calibration feature tunes your speaker settings beautifully to your room. Plug in the included microphone and place it in your favorite seat. The receiver performs a detailed sonic analysis of every speaker in your home theater system, and adjusts each one individually. The 'A3010 even adds the capability to correct for sounds reflected off your room's walls and other surfaces — echoes that can muddle the sound of your movies and music. In no time at all, your receiver is ready to give you the highest performance no matter what speakers you have or where they're positioned.

Yamaha AVENTAGE® — premium design and performance
Yamaha designed their AVENTAGE series of receivers from the ground up with sound quality as the ultimate goal. They paid attention to the little details that add up to better performance — from a solidly built double-bottomed chassis, to separate power supplies for digital and analog circuitry. And to top it off, AVENTAGE receivers are backed by a three-year warranty.

    Audio Features

Aventage Performance: The Aventage line of Yamaha AV receivers is based on the audio design concept of providing a massive, full-bodied sound for movie sound effects and the accurate reproduction of music sources. By expertly harmonizing traditional and advanced technologies, every factor that affects sound quality, from materials & parts construction to circuitry layout, vibration damping, and "fine-tuning" the sound, is handled with no other thought than to achieve the best possible audio quality. As a result, every Aventage receiver has the ability to reproduce the most subtle details of high-definition sound, so that listeners can enjoy a truly high-class sound studio experience at home.

    • Aluminum Front Panel: The aluminum front panel is used to effectively shield sensitive circuitry from external noise and electronic energy generated by dimmer switches, fluorescent lighting, video monitors and so on. This ensures optimum sonic performance in the widest range of installation environments.
    • H-Shaped Cross Member Frame: The interior of the receiver is reinforced with cross members in an H-shape to provide an extremely rigid and stable frame. This reduces chassis vibration to virtually zero even during high volume output (seemingly even minor vibrations can affect the sound), maintaining the highest audio quality.
    • Double Bottom Construction: An additional bottom cover is added for additional support and to improve sound performance at higher volume levels and also support the power transformer and heat sinks.
    • A.R.T.: The A.R.T. (Anti-Resonance Technology) Wedge 5th foot is in the center of the unit. It dampens vibrations from the power transformer, power transistors and heat sinks, as well as vibrations that might be caused by the sound from the speakers. A.R.T. Wedge 5th foot helps ensure that vibrations do not affect the sound quality.
    • Symmetrical Power Amplifier Layout: The interior of the unit has been precisely planned, circuit-routed and built so that the left & right channels are physically and electrically isolated. This naturally maximizes channel separation, but also greatly improves signal to noise ratio and helps to achieve a wide, open sound stage.
    • Hybrid Power Supply: The receiver employs independent power supplies for the digital & analog circuit, resulting in less power consumption in the standby mod, and a more efficient power transformer.

150 Watts x 9 Channel: The Yamaha Aventage RX-A3010 AV Receiver is equipped with a 9-channel amplifier rated at 150 watts (into 8-ohms, at 20-20khz, with 0.09% THD, driving 2 channels) which provides high dynamic power with low-impedance drive capability.

Power Amp Assign: The built-in seven channel amplifier can be programmed to power various speaker configurations:

    • 9ch Normal: Nine speakers are powered in the main room. Both presence (front/rear) & surround back speakers can be connected. Zone2 & Zone3 speakers must be powered by separate amps.
    • 9ch + Front: Nine speakers are powered in the main room. The receiver powers the center, surround, front presence, surround back, & rear presence speakers; an external amp powers the main front speakers. Zone2 & Zone3 speakers must be powered by separate amps.
    • 9ch + Rear Presence: Nine speakers are powered in the main room. The receiver powers the front, center, surround, surround back, & front presence speakers; an external amp powers the rear presence speakers. When this configuration is applied, you cannot utilize the Zone Out/Pre Out jacks for connecting an external amplifier in Zone3.
    • 9ch + 1Zone: Nine speakers in the main room (front, center, surround, surround back, & front presence) and two speakers in a second zone are connected to the receiver; when the second zone is turned on, the surround back speakers turn off. Zone 3 is powered by a separate amp. There are no Rear Presence speakers.
    • 7ch + Front Presence + Rear Presence: Seven speakers are powered in the main room. The receiver powers the front, center, surround, & surround back speakers; external amps power the front & rear presence speakers. When this configuration is applied, you cannot utilize the Zone Out/Pre Out jacks for connecting an external amplifier in Zone2 or Zone3.
    • 7ch + 1Zone: Seven speakers in the main room (front, center, surround, & surround back) and two speakers in a second zone are connected to the receiver; Zone 3 speakers are powered by a separate amp. There are no Presence speakers.
    • 7ch + 2Zone: Seven speakers in the main room (front, center, surround, & surround back), two speakers in Zone2, and two speakers in Zone3 are connected to the receiver. When Zone3 output is enabled, the surround back speakers in the main zone do not output sound.
    • 7ch + Front + 1Zone: Seven speakers in the main room (front presence, center, surround, and surround back) and two speakers in a second zone are connected to the receiver; the main front speakers are powered by an external amp. Rear Presence speakers are not used.
    • 7ch Bi-Amp: Seven speakers are powered in the main room (front, center, surround, & surround back) with the two extra amplifier channels used to bi-amp the front speakers. Zone 2/3 speakers can be connected to a separate amp. There are no Presence speakers.
    • 7ch Bi-Amp + Front Presence: The receiver powers seven speakers in the main room (front, center, surround, & surround back) with the two extra amplifier channels used to bi-amp the front speakers; the front presence speakers are powered by an external amp. When this configuration is applied, you cannot utilize the Zone Out/Pre Out jacks for connecting an external amplifier in Zone 2.
    • 7ch Bi-Amp + Front Presence + Rear Presence: The receiver powers seven speakers in the main room (front, center, surround, & surround back) with the two extra amplifier channels used to bi-amp the front speakers; the front & rear presence speakers are powered by external amps. When this configuration is applied, you cannot utilize the Zone Out/Pre Out jacks for connecting an external amplifier in Zone2 or Zone3.
    • 5ch + Front + 2Zone: Five speakers in the main room (center, surround, & surround back), two speakers in Zone2, & two speakers in Zone3 are connected to the receiver; the main front speakers are powered by an external amp. Presence speakers are not used.

Bi-Amp Speaker Connections: The RX-A3010 allows you to reassign the Extra Speaker1 or Extra Speaker2 channels to bi-amp the front speakers. Bi-amping uses two amplifiers to power one speaker; one connected to the woofer section and the other to the combined midrange and tweeter section. With this arrangement each amplifier operates over a restricted frequency range, making its job easier. When bi-amping the front speakers, only 7 speakers (front, center, surround, & surround back) can be powered; Zone2 & Zone3 speakers must be powered by a different amplifier; Presence speakers are not available.

Presence Speakers: Two pair of speaker terminals (Extra Speaker1 / Extra Speaker2) can be used for front/rear Presence speakers, Bi-amping the front speakers, or for driving a pair of speakers in a second or third zone. The Presence speakers supplement the sound from the front speakers with extra ambient effects produced by Cinema DSP. These effects include sounds that the filmmakers intended to locate a little farther back behind the screen in order to create more theater-like ambience. The Presence speakers should be placed at the front of the room 1-3 feet outside of the front speakers and at least 6 feet off the floor.

Note: You must select in the menu whether the speaker terminals are being used for Presence, Bi-amp or Zone2/3.

Wide-range Frequency Response: The receiver's wide-range frequency response, 10Hz to 100kHz, allows you to enjoy the full fidelity of DVD-Audio and Super-Audio CD players.

192kHz/24-bit Burr Brown DACs: The Yamaha Aventage RX-A3010 uses high quality, audio-grade Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters for all channels to maximize sound quality.

Ultra Low Jitter Circuitry: Ultra Low Jitter PLL circuitry helps optimize sound imaging by reducing Jitter from digital sources, including HDMI, using a more precise timing control.

YPAO-R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control) Technology: This unit employs the YPAO-R.S.C. (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer with Reflected Sound Control), which automatically adjusts the output of the speakers based on placement, performance, and the room's acoustic characteristics. Yamaha's YPAO-R.S.C. system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters - such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers, and even the volume level; until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room. It also employs Reflected Sound Control to correct early reflections for studio-quality sound. In addition, it provides DSP Effect Normalization, which varies the CINEMA DSP parameters according to the reflected sounds. Using the supplied Optimizer Microphone, YPAO-R.S.C. performs the following checks and makes appropriate adjustments to give you the best possible sound from your system:

    • Speaker Wiring: Checks which speakers are connected and the polarity of each.
    • Speaker Size: Checks the frequency response of each speaker and sets the appropriate crossover frequency for each channel.
    • Speaker Distance: Checks the distance of each speaker from the listening position and adjusts the delay of each channel.
    • EQ: Each channel has a parametric equalizer; choose one of 3 target settings before running the setup.
      • Natural: adjusts all speaker to a natural sound; useful when the flat setting sounds too bright
      • Flat: use when all the speakers in the system have similar sound characteristics
      • Front: EQs the center and rear speakers to sound like the front; useful when your front speakers are better than the others in the system
    • Volume Level: Checks and adjusts the volume level of each speaker.

Multi-Channel/Stereo Decoding Formats: The Yamaha Aventage RX-A3010 supports the following multi-channel (Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic) and Stereo decoding formats.

    Stereo
2ch Stereo 2-channel stereo sound (from the front speakers only), regardless of the playback source
    Straight/Direct Modes
Straight 2-channel stereo sources are output from only the front left and right speakers while multi-channel sources are decoded straight into the appropriate channels without any additional effect processing
Pure Direct turns off the surround and tone circuitry, and dims the front panel display, allowing sources to bypass the decoders and DSP processors of this unit so you can enjoy pure hi-fi sound from 2-channel analog sources. During Direct playback no sound is output from the subwoofer
    Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital digital surround sound format that gives you completely independent multi-channel audio; with 3 front channels (front L/R and center) and 2 surround stereo channels, Dolby Digital provides 5 full-range audio channels
Dolby Digital EX developed as an extension to Dolby Digital, the coding technology supports 6.1 discrete channels
Dolby Digital Plus developed as an extension to Dolby Digital, the coding technology supports 7.1 discrete channels
Dolby TrueHD a lossless coding technology that supports up to 8 channels of multi-channel surround sound for the next generation optical discs; the reproduced sound is true to the original source bit-for-bit

DTS digital surround sound format that produces practically distortion-free 5.1ch sound (front L/R, center, Surround L/R, and Sub)
DTS-Express digital audio format supporting low bit rates (maximum 5.1-channels, 24 to 256 kbps)
DTS-ES (Discrete/Matrix) 6.1-channel discrete digital audio format adding a surround back channel to the DTS digital surround sound.
DTS-HD Master Audio an advanced lossless technology that delivers sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, offering a high-definition home theater experience (up to 7.1ch)
DTS-HD High Resolution high resolution audio, virtually indistinguishable from the original audio track (up to 7.1ch)
DTS 96/24 digital audio format enabling high sound quality playback in 5.1-channels with a sampling frequency of 96 kHz and 24 bit quantization of DVD-video
DTS Neo: 6 (Cinema/Music) matrix decoding technology for achieving 6.1-channel surround playback with 2-channel sources
    Dolby Pro Logic
Dolby Pro Logic processes any high-quality stereo (two-channel) movie and music audio into four playback channels of surround sound - Front Left, Front Right, Center, Mono-Surrounds
Dolby Pro Logic II (Cinema/Music/Game) a matrix surround decoding technology, Dolby Pro Logic II detects the directional cues that occur naturally in stereo content and uses these elements to create a five-channel surround sound playback experience
Dolby Pro Logic IIx (Cinema/Music/Game) enables discrete multichannel playback from 2-channel or multichannel sources; supports up to 7.1ch playback
    DSD
DSD 6ch audio signals are stored as single-bit values at a high-frequency sampling rate of 2.8224 MHz, while noise shaping and oversampling are used to reduce distortion - providing a better audio quality with a dynamic range of up to 128 db.

Note: Dolby Digital and DTS listening modes can only be selected if your audio source is connected to the AV receiver via a digital audio connection (HDMI, optical, or coaxial). An HDMI connection is required for playback of the following 7.1ch formats - Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD.

Pro Logic II Parameters: You can adjust the following parameters in Pro Logic II Music modes:

    • Panorama: Sends stereo signals to the surround speakers as well as the front speakers for a wraparound effect.
    • Dimension: Adjusts the soundfield either towards the front or towards the rear of the room.
    • Center Width: Moves the center channel output completely towards the center speaker or towards the front left and right speakers.

Center Image (DTS NEO: 6 Music): This parameter adjusts the front left and right channel output relative to the center channel to make the center channel more or less dominant as necessary.

CINEMA DSP: Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent soundfields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects ideally located in these separate soundfields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater. The AV receiver offers 17 CINEMA DSP programs for movies, music, and games.

    Cinema DSP Movie Modes
Standard emphasize the surround feeling without disturbing the original acoustic positioning of multi-channel audio, such as Dolby Digital and DTS

Surround Parameters: You can adjust the following parameters of the Cinema DSP modes.

    • DSP Level: You can change the receiver's CINEMA DSP effect level (level of the soundfield effect to be added). You can adjust the level of the soundfield effect from -6 dB to +3 dB.
    • Delay: Adjusts the delay between the direct sound and the presence soundfield (1-99ms), surround soundfield (1-49ms), and surround back soundfield (1-49ms).
    • Room Size: Adjusts the broadening effect (0.1-2.0) of the presence soundfield, surround soundfield, and the surround back sound field.
    • Liveness: Adjusts the loss (0-10) of the presence soundfield, surround soundfield, and surround back soundfield.
    • Reverb: Adjusts the delay time of the rear reverberant sound (1.0-5.0s), the delay between the direct sound and rear reverberant sound (0-250ms), and the volume of the reverberant sound (0-100%).

Adaptive DSP Level: This function selects whether to automatically adjust the Cinema DSP effect level in conjunction with volume adjustments.

CINEMA DSP 3D: The actually measured soundfield data in recorded soundtracks contain the information of the height of the sound images. CINEMA DSP 3D mode achieves the reproduction of the accurate height of theses sound images so that it can create the accurate and intensive stereoscopic soundfield in your listening room. CINEMA DSP 3D does this by using the receiver's Presence (height) Speakers.

Virtual Presence Speaker: Virtual Presence Speaker mode provides the 3D sound effect without actual front presence speakers. It creates virtual presence speakers from the receiver's front speakers, center speakers, and surround speakers, which brings you into a stereoscopic soundfield.

Virtual CINEMA DSP: Virtual CINEMA DSP is an algorithm that allows you to enjoy DSP soundfield surround effects while using a minimal two-speaker system. This unit will switch to virtual CINEMA DSP mode automatically when surround speakers are unavailable.

SILENT CINEMA: SILENT CINEMA makes it possible to hear large-scale surround sound through ordinary headphones. This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that Yamaha developed to let you listen in private to movies and other multi-channel sources for hours without listening fatigue. Virtual CINEMA DSP lets you enjoy the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound without using surround speakers (handy for use in custom installations where some rooms don't have surround speakers). It can be used with the front / center / presence speakers or even with just the two front left and right speakers.

Compressed Music Enhancer: Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3, WMA, and AAC. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life to be as close to the original as possible.

Dialogue Lift: This function adjust the vertical position of center sound when presence speakers are used. If dialogue is heard from  position lower than the TV screen, adjust this setting to raise the position (0-5).

Manual Speaker Setup: This feature allows you to manually adjust the following speaker settings:

    • Speaker Sizes: Set the size and connection status of speakers and subwoofers, and whether to designate a specific speaker (or subwoofer) for low-frequency sound.
      • Front: Large or Small
      • Center: Large, Small, or None
      • Surround: Large, Small, or None
      • Surround Back: Large (1/2), Small (1/2), or None
      • Presence: Front, Rear, Both, None
      • Subwoofer: Normal, Reverse, or None
    • Equalizer: Each of the full range channels can be adjusted individually using the seven band equalizer (63Hz, 160Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.khz, 6.3kHz, 16kHz.)
    • Bass Crossover: Select the crossover frequency (40, 60, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 160, or 200Hz) of all the speakers set to Small. Audio with a frequency below this limit (40-200Hz) will be output from the subwoofer or the front speakers.
    • Extra Bass: Select whether to play front channel low-frequencies through either of the front speaker or the subwoofer, or through both the subwoofer and front speakers.
    • Speaker Distance: Set the distance between the speakers/subwoofer and the listening point, so that the sound from each speaker and the subwoofer reaches the listening point at the appropriate timing. Select from 1 to 80 feet in 0.5 foot steps.
    • Speaker Level Adjustment: Adjust the volume (-10 to +10 dB) for each speaker and the subwoofer so that the sound is balanced. A test tone is played back through the receiver for each speaker and subwoofer to help with adjustment.

Bass and Treble Control: You can independently adjust the bass (centered at 50Hz) and treble (centered at 20kHz) from -6dB to +6B in 0.5 dB increments. The tone control of the speakers or headphones can be set separately.

Dynamic Range: The amount of dynamic range compression applied to bitstream signals is adjustable; Min/Auto is suitable for low volume listening, Standard is typical for home use, and Max doesn't compress the dynamic range at all.

Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control): Adaptive DRC automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume level. This ensures that you hear clear dialogue and vocals, and all sound effects at comfortable levels. There is no need to adjust the volume level as you listen; everything from whispers to big explosions will be heard clearly and comfortably at the same volume setting. It also tones down loud TV commercials, and is ideal for low-volume, late-night listening, when you do not want to disturb others,

Max Volume Adjustment: Use this feature to set the receiver's maximum volume level. This feature is useful to avoid turning the volume too loud by mistake. You can set the Max Volume from -30 dB to +15 dB in 5 dB steps, or to +16.5 dB (full volume range is -80 dB to +16.5 dB).

Initial Volume Setting: Use this feature to set the volume level when the power is turned on. You can choose between Off (same as the volume when the unit was turned off), Mute, and -80 dB to + 16.5 dB in increments of 0.5 dB.

Volume Trim: Use this feature to adjust the volume level of each input. This is useful to balance the level of each input to avoid sudden changes in volume when switching between input sources. The range is from -6 dB to +6 dB in 0.5 dB increments.

Speaker Terminals: The receiver has binding post speaker terminals for all speaker outputs (Front, Center, Surround, Surround Back, Bi-Amp/Multi-Zone/Presence). The function of the extra speaker terminals is set using the Power Amp Assign menu. The binding posts can accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs. The terminals are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs and the collar surrounding the posts prevents the use of spade connectors.

Impedance Selection: You can select 8 ohms or 6 ohms in the menu depending on your speaker application. The 6-ohm setting also allows you to connect 4-ohm speakers to the receiver's Front Speaker terminals.

Digital Inputs/Output: The Yamaha AV receiver is equipped with four optical digital inputs (3 rear/1 front), three coaxial digital inputs (rear), and one optical digital output (rear). The optical digital output can be used for recording or Zone 4.

7.1ch Analog Input: This unit has a discrete 7.1-channel analog input for connecting DVD-Audio and Super-Audio CD players or an external decoder.

9.2ch Preamp Outputs: The A/V receiver features 7.2-channel pre-amp outputs (Front L/R, Front Presence L/R, Center, Surround L/R, Surround Back L/R, Rear Presence L/R, and Dual Subs) for connection to external power amplifiers.

Phono Input: The Yamaha AV receiver is fitted with a Phono input (MM), so you can connect your turntable and listen to your vinyl records with high-quality sound

Headphone Jack: The Yamaha RX-A3010 is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone jack for connecting a set of headphone, so you can listen to your music privately. Connecting a set of headphones automatically mutes the receiver's speaker outputs.  Sound effects applied during playback can also be heard through the headphones.

    Video Features

1080p HDMI (v.1.4) with Dual Outputs: 1080p HDMI (v.1.4) with 3D and Audio Return Channel (8 In/2 Out) deliver crystal-clear, all-digital audio and video via a single cable. HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide you with the highest-quality home theater experience. HDMI can provide an interface between most audio/video sources, such as a set-top box, Blu-ray player, DVD player, or A/V receiver and a video monitor, such as a High Definition Television (HDTV), over a single cable. The AV receiver's HDMI jacks can be used for 2-channel and multi-channel linear PCM (up to 8-channel) and Bitstream (Dolby Digital, DTS, etc) digital audio formats as well as digital video signals up to 1080p resolution (including 1080/24p). They also support Deep Color (30 bit and 36 bit), xvColor, 120 Hz and 24 Hz refresh rates, and auto Lip-Sync compensation. The two HDMI outputs are parallel so the same video signal is output through both and can be used simultaneously.

Note: When you output a video signal from both HDMI outputs simultaneously, the receiver outputs the video signal at the highest resolution that both TVs connected to this unit can support. For example, if you are have connected a 1080p TV and a 720p TV, the receiver will output 720p video through both HDMI outputs.

HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) VHD1900 Vida Processor: This AV receiver optimizes the video signals sent to the TV by using the most advanced HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) VHD1900 Vida processor. Supporting both SD (standard definition) and HD (high definition) sources, this processor employs powerful noise reduction functions that even improve low-quality sources. The HQV Vida processor enhances image detail & quality with four-field motion adaptive de-interlacing, multi-cadence tracking, expanded 12-bit color processing & detail enhancement. The HQV Vida also incorporates two new HQV technologies (Auto HQV & HQV StreamClean) which automatically enhance the incoming image and provide powerful clean-up of source video, allowing the picture to be as crisp and clean as possible. The result transforms standard-definition sources to HD quality and makes HD look even more detailed. Moreover, the device also provides real-time clean up of highly compressed video, reducing compression artifacts of block and mosquito noise from lower-quality sources.

1080p Video Upscaling: The Aventage Series RX-A3010 is capable of outstanding upscaling and i/p conversion quality. This AV Receiver will upscale 480i/480p, 720p, & 1080i video signals from analog-to-HDMI and HDMI-to-HDMI, up to 1080p. This means a much better picture with HDTVs capable of 720p, 1080i or 1080p resolution. The receiver also features extremely precise motion adaptive and edge adaptive deinterlacing and multi-cadence detection (including 3-2 pull-down).

Note: You can also convert a composite video signal to a component video and vice-versa. HDMI can only be output via HDMI.

Edge Adaptive Deinterlacing: In ordinary deinterlacing, pixels in areas of movement are interpolated by upper and lower ranges. This causes jaggies in diagonal lines. Edge adaptive deinterlacing detects the direction of the line and interpolates the pixels optimally.

3D Ready: The Yamaha Aventage RX-A3010 AV receiver supports 3D HDMI pass-through from connected 3D-compatible Blu-ray, games and broadcast devices to 3D-compatible HDTVs (all 3D components must be connected via HDMI). 3D provides a more engaging audio and video consumer experience. Note that special eyewear may be required for viewing 3D content

ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to your receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.

Standby Through: When the Aventage Series RX-A3010 is in standby mode (power off), the Standby Through feature allows HDMI source signals to pass through the receiver to the TV. The HDMI input can be changed using the remote control.

x.v.Color: The AV receiver supports x.v.Color, offering a wider color range than the current broadcast standard. For the x.v.Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible (camera-editing-format-player-display).

Deep Color: The Yamaha Aventage AV receiver also supports Deep Color which allows the color depth of video signals passing through HDMI to be raised. The number of colors that could be expressed by 1 pixel was 24 bits (16,777,216 colors) with a standard HDMI jack. However, the number of colors which can be expressed by 1 pixel is 36 bits with a Deep Color enabled HDMI jack. Since the gradation of the depth of a color can be expressed more finely with more bits, continuous color changes can be more smoothly expressed.  For the Deep Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible (camera-editing-format-player-display).

Note: x.v. Color and Deep Color technology are supported only when source product, HDMI cable, media and HDTV all support those features.

Lipsync: This function adjusts the delay between audio and video output. You can do this manually or have the receiver set the Lipsync function automatically.

    • Auto: When connected to a TV via HDMI, automatically adjusts audio output timing (0-250ms) if the TV supports an automatic lipsync function.
    • Manually: You can manually delay the sound output up to 250ms to synchronize it with the video image.

Video Adjustments: The Yamaha AV receiver lets you make the following video adjustments - Resolution Enhancement, Noise Reduction, Brightness, Contrast, & Saturation. These video adjustments can be saved as presets (up to 6).

HDTV-compatible Component Video: The Aventage Series RX-A3010 offers four component video inputs and a component video monitor output. These inputs and output have a frequency response of 5 Hz to 60 MHz and will pass High Definition video sources up to 1080p.

Front Panel AV Input: The front panel's Video Aux input features analog stereo RCA, digital optical, composite video, S-video, and HDMI.

Background Video: The Background Video feature allows you to watch a video source while listening to a different audio source. With the RX-A3010, you can select any video input, and listen to AM/FM radio, Internet audio, Sirius Satellite Radio (optional tuner required), or select songs from a USB device, at the same time.
